WEEK 1 TERM 3 21 July 2020 MORUYA PUBLIC SCHOOL Welcome to Term 3. We are excited about another term of fabulous teaching and learning and are looking at lots of different ways that we can enrich the curriculum and connue to provide addional opportuni- es for students despite current restricons. Over the next few weeks there will be informaon about virtual wring workshops with authors and a range of acvies for students to parcipate in. Last term you should have received your childs school report. Later this term we will hold formal parent teacher interviews. Depending on health guidelines these may be over the phone rather than in person. At any me if you wish to discuss your childs learning you are welcome to contact the class teacher. I would like to thank everyone in our community for their support of our school and for connuing to follow health advice. As advised yesterday, students will be escorted to Murray St and Evans St gates in the aſternoon to connue to minimise the number of adults on site. We connue to ensure extra cleaning throughout the day as well as regular hand washing, wiping down of surfaces and use of hand saniser. We ask that you connue to follow the advice of NSW Health and nofy us of any potenal cases of Coronavirus so that we can take appropriate acon. Please at any me if you have any quesons do not hesitate to contact me. At this stage our Kindergarten Orientaon and informaon sessions are on hold. As soon as it is possible for us to hold these sessions we will provide you with informaon. In the mean me, if your child is starng school next year and you would like to discuss their enrolment or find out informaon about our school please contact the front office and I will be happy to talk with you and provide addional informaon. We can also send out informaon and enrolment packs when requested. Our school banking program will connue next week. Students can resume bringing in bank books for banking from next week. I would like to thank Merryn for making this program available to our students. Our canteen reopened this week and I thank Nicole and the P&C for enabling the students at our school to have access to a canteen and a great range of food. Mr Johnson and Mrs Mercer will be on leave this term. Mrs Wassell will connue as the class teacher for Chameleons and Ms Dyason will connue as the class teacher for Buerflies. MORUYA PUBLIC SCHOOL

Welcome to Term 3.

We are excited about another term of fabulous teaching and learning and are looking at lots of different ways that we can enrich the curriculum and continue to provide additional opportuni-ties for students despite current restrictions. Last term you should have received your child’s school report. Later this term we will hold formal parent teacher interviews. Depending on health guidelines these may be over the phone rather than in person. At any time if you wish to discuss your child’s learning you are welcome to contact the class teacher.

I would like to thank everyone in our community for their support of our school and for continuing to follow health advice. If you have a child, or know of someone who has a child, who will be attending Kindergarten in 2021 at

Moruya Public School please ensure you call and let us know 4474 2363. Alternatively fill in the slip below

stage.

I have taught Writing for Children and Young Adults in the Profession-

al Writing and Editing course at RMIT and at the Victorian Writers’

Centre. I also visit schools and libraries to give talks and writing work-

shops to kids

Library News

Last Term our school had an amazing donation from the Children’s Charity Network of

two large boxes of books. It is also providing an opportunity to have online sessions with

leading authors and illustrators, free of charge.

On Wednesday 29th July (Week 2) Marc MacBride, illustrator, will be presenting a

workshop with Stage 3. More information about him below.

On Wednesday 5th August (Week 3) Meredith Costain, author, will be presenting a work-

shop with Stage 2. More information about her below.

Meredith Costain is a versatile writer whose work

ranges from picture books through to series fiction and

non-fiction. Her latest series is the best-selling Ella Dairies.

She offers workshops on narrative non-fiction and poetry.

Marc McBride is the illustrator of Emily

Rodda's best-selling Deltora Quest series, which has

sold over eighteen million copies around the world

and has become an Anime TV show.

His new book, written by Emily Rodda, is called

The Glimme and was published by Scholastic

Australia in October 2019. During the presentation

Marc will talk about the unique collaboration he

enjoys with Emily Rodda. Marc will paint a dragon

during the presentation as he explains the process

of creating artwork, beginning with imagination

and where ideas come from.
