My 3D KEYRING The past term stage three has been using a 3D printer. We were told to create a 3D design using the website Tinkercad. Almost every design that was printed looked great although there were a few fails. I created a keyring that said ‘Bianca’ with a small bee on the end. One of my classmates did a pic-ture of Australia although in the end it looked a little bit man-gled. When we made our keyrings the first thing we did was have a go at Tinkercad. Tinkercad is an awesome 3D design website that allows you to create almost any design you think of. We were allowed to do any design we wanted and so I went with my name and a bee on a platform. Next, we put our designs on a USB stick so the teachers could upload it to collaboration. Once we had uploaded it to collaboration the teachers programmed the printer to print our designs. The 3D printer printed our designs using white filament.
Once my design had printed I coloured it in with sharpies. Everyone in the class had to take a picture with their design although the colour on my keyring had rubbed off. When I got home I painted mine with fabric paint and it looks so much better now. In the end result it looks bright and colourful! I would happily do this again next year.
