NewsfromKeyStage2

It’sbeenafantasticstarttotheyearinKeyStage2.Year3havebeguntheirtopiconFairtradeinearnest,gettingstuckintotheirnovelCharlieandtheChocolateFactory.Year4arewellunderwaystudyingextremeweather,andplansareafootfortheirveryownhotairballoons!ThechildreninYear5and6havebeenespeciallybusypreparingfortheirrespectiveplaysattheAlbanyaspartoftheShakespeareSchool’sFestival2019.Thisyear,Year5willperformMacbethandYear6willtakeonRomeoandJuliet.

Aremindertoalloftheimportanceandnecessityofeverychildreadingathomeforatleast20minutespernightandkeepingalogthreetimesaweekintheiryellowreadingrecords. LeoWallace

InclusionNewsOverthelasttwoweeks,theinclusionteamhavebeenworkingwithKeyStage2teacherstocreateprovisionmapsforchildrenwhohavespecial

educationalneeds.Teachersandteachingassistantshavebeguntheplanninganddeliveryofinterventionstosupportthesechildrentomakeasmuchprogressaspossible.ItwaslovelymeetingReceptionparentsatMeettheTeacherandwelookforwardtoseeingyourchildrenthriveinthecomingmonths.Inthecomingweeks,Iwillbebusymakingthenecessaryreferralstoandliaisingwithoutsideagenciesforadvice,assessmentsandsupportforchildrenacrosstheschool.Asalways,ifyou’dliketospeaktomeaboutaninclusionrelatedissue,doseemeintheplaygroundbeforeorafterschooloremail:dYielding@ashmead.lewisham.sch.uk DavidFielding

Ourcurrentvalue WearecurrentlylookingatthevalueofPerseverance.

SportsNewsThisweekselectedchildrenfromY5&6representedtheschoolintheannualLewishamboroughFootballtournamentatStDunstans.The6-a-sideteamcompetedin5matches,winning2,drawing1andconceding2gameswithintheirgroupjustmissingouttoqualify,itwasagreatdaywithhighmoraleandagreatshowofeffortandteamworkfromthechildren.WearelookingforwardincompetingintheupcomingSportshallAthleticstournamentandHockeytournamentinOctober.ChildreninY3-6havebeendevelopingtheirhockeyskillsandhavebeenpractisingtravellingwithcontrol.ChildreninKS1havebeendevelopingbalancingskillsandknowledgeofmovementwithlargeandsmallbodypartsandhavestartedtocreateminisequencestodisplaytheirmovements. NewsfromNurseryandReceptionWe'vehadanexcitingfewweeksinReceptionandNurserygettingtoknoweachotherandbuildingnewfriendships.ThechildrenhavesettledintothenewenvironmentverywellandarebecomingmoreconYidenteveryday.Wehaveparticularlyenjoyedtherainyweatherrecently,thechildrenhavealllovedgettingtheirwaterproofsandbootsonandhavingagoodsplashinthepuddles,catchingthedripsanddigginginthewetmud.
