User Roles – Versions Prior to Release 4

Prior authority used one of five operation modes to grant login and functional authority per sub area Operation modes were hierarchical and the user was assigned

the highest mode he was authorized to use

Disadvantage: Unable to define users who can have the highest functional authority but not have the intermediate functions

Operation Mode Typical Application

5 Administrator

4 Supervisory Control

3 Open/close

2 Not used

1 Read-only

BB

. -

27 -

User Roles – Release 4

Now authority uses a combination of user roles and an unlimited number of operation modes to grant login and functional authority Operation modes are NOT hierarchical but independent levels

used to configure authority for different roles

Administrator needs to determine a grouping of functionality first and then assign the appropriate number of opmodes

28 -

Examples of User Roles

Admin Perform admin functions in Ormap

Cannot perform supervisory control

Cannot assign crews

Cannot update outages

Operator Open/close fuses

Cannot open/close switches

Grid Management Open/close switches

Roles and Operation Modes

Role can comprise any mix of operation mode levels

Number of operation mode levels is unlimited

Operation mode can now be defined per device type
