One Side Zipper Tape Purse

Take to rectangles pin right sides together
Stitch ½” seam allowance along the edge and across the
bottom
Or fold a retangular piece of fabric in half.
Stitch across the bottom edge
Roll out zipper coil 2x’s finished length across the top of
the finished purse, plus a ½”.
Use only 1 side of the zipper coil.
Take the zipper and line it up
against the top edge of the purse.
Small side of zipper teeth is face up.
Allow ½” of zipper tape extra to lap
off end of the fabric.
With zipper foot stitch
close to zipper teeth, ½”
seam allowance, keeping
zipper tape lined up on
the edge of the purse
top.
As you approach seam
allowance for side of
purse, press seal
allowance flat and
continue to stitch zipper
tape to the end of the top
edge.
Here is the top of the purse with one side of the zipper
stitched on. Side edge is not finished.
Match zipper teeth together, with coarse side of zipper
face up. One end of the zipper coil can be cut shorter, to
help slide on zipper slider easily.
Slide the zipper slider onto the longer end of the zipper
coil large end, then slide in to the shorter side of the coil.
Pull it until it clicks, pull slide a little.
Turn fabric wrong side
out and stitch the open
seam closed using a ½”
seam allowance.
Stitch ½” seam allowance
up to and over the zipper
teeth. Go slow when
stitching over the zipper
teeth. Do back tack, so
edge of zipper does not
come open. Trim zipper.
Here is what the inside
of the purse will look
like when stitching is
finished.
Finished top edge of the 1 sided zipper purse. You still have
the other side of the zipper tape to make another purse. You
just need another zipper slider.
