Purpose of the Programme

An awareness programme was planned in order

to celebrate “Oral Hygiene Day” with the

following agenda:

1. To create awareness regarding the relationship

between periodontitis and diabetes.

2. To educate patients regarding correct brushing

and flossing techniques

3. To motivate patients regarding regular dental

check-ups and treatment.

Protocol Of the Programme

The aims of this programme were fulfilled via:

1. Free dental check-ups

2. Free scaling and polishing

3. Free diabetes evaluation (Random blood

sugar levels and HbA1c)

4. Free blood group testing

5. Motivational videos and lecture on diabetes-

periodontitis inter-relation, and oral hygiene

techniques.

Propaganda for the programmeThe following means were used to advertise the programme :

1. Banners in 3 different languages (viz English, Hindi,Marathi)

and standees (in Hindi and Marathi) were displayed at

different locations within the campus of Y.M.T; one week in

advance.

2. Posters were displayed in various colonies and

societies in Kharghar and the secretaries of the

respective buildings were requested to publicize the

same to the residents.

3. Every walk-in patient (old and new) visiting

YMT Dental College and Hospital was handed

over a bilingual pamphlet (English and Hindi)

along with their case paper.

4. Bilingual pamphlets were distributed in local

newspapers on Sunday 30th July, 2017 so as

to reach out to as many residents of Kharghar

as possible.
