Chosen to represent the qualities we stand for.

We chose them because they represent the qualities we

Heroes

1914-1918The Great War

10 million people died in the First World War.

46 were from South Wigston.

Our Houses are named after 7 men who died in Belgium in the

Great War.

Their bodies were never found.

They are remembered in Belgiumon these memorials.

The Menin Gate has the names of 55,000 of the fallen whose bodies were never found, including

Corporal Thomas Henry Foster and Private George Edward Boulter.

The Ploegsteert Memorial has 11,000 names of the ‘missing’ on it, including

Sapper George Whyatt and Private Bernard Corbett.

The Tynecot Memorial has 17,000 names of the ‘missing’. These include Trooper James Spencer Potter, Private Thomas Chapman

and Corporal Thomas Henry Foster.
