November 2016
Follow us! Search “Paralegal
Association of Florida, Inc.—
Brevard Chapter” and join!
We list useful links, infor-
mation regarding upcoming
meetings and events!
I think we can officially say we have
entered the Holiday Season. We will
leave behind daylight saving’s time and
hopefully enjoy some cooler weather. I
hope everyone had a fun and spooky
Halloween!
This year is especially exciting for me. I
graduate from UCF in December and
can finally have more time for my
family and friends. They have all been
so supportive and patient. I would like
to take the NALA exam next year and
I am hoping there are other members
who would like to create a study
group. Let me know!
The Board is so excited about all the
Chapter’s upcoming meetings and
events. On Saturday, December 5,
2016, we will hold the Chapter’s annual
garage sale. Last year we held the
garage sale at Penny Chambers’ house
in Merritt Island and it was a successful
and fun day (Penny’s husband is a great cook and treated us to breakfast and
lunch – you can tell what is important
to us!). So, we have nominated the
Chambers’ residence again this year.
All proceeds from our garage sale will
go to the Children’s Hunger Project.
This would be a great time to clean out
your home of those things you keep
meaning to take to Goodwill, and bring
them to the November 10th meeting,
drop them off at Penny’s house, or
contact a Board member. Anyone
who wants to help on the day of the
garage sale, let me know. You are
sure to lots of fun.
On February 11, 2017, we will hold our
Chapter’s yearly seminar “Lights,
Camera, Action”, at the Hilton in Melbourne Beach. The Seminar
committee has put together an
impressive list of guest speakers. Mark
your calendars, you will not want to
miss this seminar.
In March, we will have our next social
and are looking into “Painting with a
Twist” in Downtown Melbourne. We
know that would be a great evening for
us to unwind and get creative.
I look forward to seeing many of you at
the November meeting where we will
hear firsthand how Federal Rule 26 was
extensively amended in December
2015 and how it has effected civil
discovery procedures.
As we approach this last meeting of the
year, I would like to take this
opportunity to wish you all a safe and
happy holiday season filled with family
and friends.

tacting PAF Headquarters. Con-
tact information and web site are listed below.
All applications and membership

FRP CE Requirements
As many of you are aware, the CLE requirements for
attorneys have changed to now include technology-related
courses. However, this is not a requirement for paralegals.
The FRP CE requirement has not changed.
FRPs are required to complete 30 general hours of CEs, with
5 of those hours in Ethics or Professionalism. Although
technology-related courses are not required, feel free to take
them for credit towards your general CE requirement. Please
remember that only courses approved by The Florida Bar,
NALA or NFPA are permissible.

that will provide information that will be beneficial for all of us. We appreciate your patience
and we look forward to receiving all of your responses once the survey is complete.
Upcoming Social Events
We want to thank all of you who took the time out of your busy lives to join us for a fun
night of bowling this past Saturday for Cosmic Bowling in Merritt Island. It was a success and
everyone that showed up had a blast!
We are planning our next social to take place in Spring at Painting with a Twist. Stay tuned for
more details.
Spring Seminar
We have confirmed the date for the Chapter’s Annual Spring Seminar. It will be held on
