27th May 2018 The Most Holy Trinity (B)
Sunday (B)
Parish of St Wilfrid, Widnes
This Week’s Reflection: Just as grace gives us perfect conformity with the substance common to the three divine Persons, the
supernatural gifts which perfect the intellect and will give us a likeness to the very Persons who are
sent in that which is proper to them. Now, the supernatural gifts of grace which perfect the intellect and
the will so that we can enjoy God in this life as the object of our knowledge and love are never
possessed without the presence of the infinite Persons to whom they make us similar. Thus, the Holy
Spirit is given to us with charity, as the Apostle says: “The Charity of God is poured out into our hearts
by the Holy Spirit who is given to us”.
In the same way the person of the Son is sent co-jointly to the intellect with the light of grace, by which
we are like unto him, as the same Apostle says, in order that Jesus may dwell in our hearts by faith.
Hence, the whole man becomes the perfect image of the most glorious Trinity in the representation of
its being by grace and in the imitation of the eternal productions by the operations of the theological
virtues of faith and charity.

statue of Our Lady of Walsingham and to attend Mass at 12 noon.

Ditch Disposables
It can be tempting when having a party or
BBQ to think of the convenience of
disposable plates, cups and cutlery.
They may lower your pile of dishes to wash,
but the time has come for us all to get
serious about paper and plastic waste.
Dear Lord,
Help us to keep mindful not only that we
are your stewards of this world, but also
that your creation is a gift for all
generations.
Amen

The Parish of St Wilfrid can offer you a chance to meet like-minded people… to share conversation
together, in a warm and friendly atmosphere… to provide a place where some of the questions that
may puzzle you can be explored… to have time and space to discern if you are being called to a
Catholic way of life.

Co-ordinating Group
Our Parish Co-ordinating Group (Fr. Mike Fitzsimons, Pauline Rolt, Fr. Joe Bibby, Mary Rudder, Fr.
Matt Jolley, Sr. Catherine Darby, Tony Rudder, Shelagh Hindley) meets each week to try to co-ordinate
the overall development of the parish.
• The meeting started with the Archdiocesan Prayer to the Holy Spirit.
• During the main part of the meeting representatives from the Archdiocesan Surveyors’ section;
Brian Dunne; Mark Jones and Kevin Harvey, gave a presentation explaining the extensive role
of their department and what it offers to support parishes. Amongst many other things, their
work enables parishes to function safely; meet buildings guidelines/requirements; oversee
tenders; survey and advise on sites etc. The meeting provided opportunity for conversation,
queries and questions which proved very helpful.
• Conversation then took place to update the group around the General Data Protection Register.
Shelagh reported that the Archdiocese will be forwarding advice and further information shortly,
many steps towards are already in place but further action will be needed in some areas.
• Eucharistic Congress; SYNOD 2020; Parish Talks continued to be the focus for further planning
and consideration. After the Eucharistic Congress in September the parish focus will be working
towards SYNOD 2020.
Parish of St Wilfrid Celebrate First Holy Communion
Calling Extraordinary Ministers, Readers, Instrumentalists, Altar Servers, Catechists, Singers & Sacristans…
Many families from across our Parish are celebrating First Holy Communion with their children. On these very special occasions one thing that makes a huge difference to the children and their parents is the involvement of people from the wider parish community at the actual Masses.
Thank you to everybody who has volunteered so far: all Masses now have enough readers.
Altar servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Catechists and/or musicians are still required at Masses on 2nd June and 9th June.
2nd June: St Michael’s 11am - St Bede’s 1pm
9th June: St Bede’s & St John Fisher - 1pm
If you are able to take your place in supporting our families in any of the above roles please contact Susan, Shelagh or Alex on 422 1772 to confirm your availability
