Hello Students & Families!  Here are this week’s activities. Just a reminder that all of the Phys-Ed, Media and Music activitiesare voluntary. If you choose to complete some or all of the activities and would like to sharethem with us please feel free to e-mail your work to Mrs. MacKenzie (kmackenz@hwdsb.on.ca),Mrs. Rich (srich@hwdsb.on.ca) and/or Miss Harrison (kharriso@hwdsb.on.ca). Choice 1 Bonus Challenge:The Cup Game

There are many versions of this gameand once you master the basicversion you can create your own. Youneed a partner and two plastic cups.If you don’t have plastic cups, you canuse plastic containers from therecycling bin. Ask an adult to help youfind the right ones and wash yourhands before you play!

Last week we reviewed differentinstrument families and practicedsorting instruments into their families. After watching this short video, thinkabout which instruments you saw andheard Olaf play and which instrumentfamilies they belong to. Music sounds interesting to our earswhen it is made up of many differentinstruments, from different instrumentfamilies. You might be thinking that becauseyou are only one person, you can'tplay more than one instrument at atime...well guess what?! Today is yourchance to create your own one manband or one kid band! Hand clapping games are great! Allyou need is a partner, a little spaceand some patience! Try the DoubleDouble clapping game with a familymember. An adult you live with mighteven remember other hand clappinggames. Don’t forget to wash yourhands first!

Can you design a poster to put in yourwindow to encourage and  supportour essential or front line workers?  These are the people who arecontinuing to work to help ourcommunity and world to function.  You can use whatever paper andmaterials you have around yourhome. Even small notepad paperscould make a puzzle piece typemessage once all put up together!

Choice 1 Bonus Challenge:Create your own one man band or one kidband. You can use this cool website to addinstruments from different families to yourone man band. You will need Adobe FlashPlayer to use this website. If you are not able to use the website youcan draw and label yourself as a one manband. Be creative with the differentinstruments you choose to include and tryto identify which instrument family theybelong to. Can you create a one man band that usesinstruments from all four instrumentfamilies? Take a screenshot or picture of the oneman band you create!

Using one of the three emoji choicesdecide how you feel about the cover of thebook. Next, listen to the book read aloud by theauthor. Finally, at the end of the story decidewhich emoji describes how you feel aboutthe story now! So you have evaluated thestory with 2 emojis. You may feel differently AFTER you haveheard the story. The author has to choosean illustrator they think best interpretstheir written ideas. Now try this sketching activity on how todraw a hockey goalie. Choice 2 Bonus Challenge:Try the Musical Art activity with 2different songs from the playlist. Use the Venn Diagram on page 12 (K- Grade 2) and page 13 (Grade 3 -Grade 5) to compare the art youcreated while listening to each pieceof music. You can even choose yourown instrumental songs if you want! Let a sibling or family member listento both songs and challenge them toguess which art was created whenlistening to which song.
