Poisonous Plants

There are 350,000 kinds of plants in the world, some which are poisonous.

They may be found on deep forest or even in the household gardens.

It is important that you learn to

recognize them.

Poisonous Ornamental Plants

1. House Plants – these are the decorative poisonous plants that may be found inside or near your home.

Dumb cane – when eaten can cause burning, swelling or even death.

Philodendron– a very beautiful plant that can cause death when eaten.

2. Garden Plants– these are found in the garden.

Hyacinth, azalea, poinsettias, daffodils, irises, wisteria and mistletoes.

3. Berries – do not eat any berries unless you are absolutely sure that the berries you find are not poisonous.

Things to do incase of plant poisoning:

1. Stay calm

2. Call for help- family doctor or

3. call 911

4. Report your name, address any detail regarding the food

that a person ate or accidentally swallowed.

5. Remember to give the co.rrect information

Poison Ivy – is a shrub or a vine that has three

leaflets. A bushy poison ivy is called a poison oak.

It gives of an oil that when rubbed against the skin can

cause blister.

If you think that you’ve accidentally touch

an ivy plant, here’s what to do:

1. Wash the affected are with soap and water

2. Do not let it touch the other parts of your body

3. Carefully wash the clothes you wore

4. Use alcohol after washing

5. Put lotion for relieve the burning and itching

The plant tobacco

contains a poison called

nicotine.

Nicotine is a habit forming drug

It causes lung cancer, heart

disease and other illnesses.

Nicotine is use as an

insecticide.

Poison ivy may be a plant that we accidentally come

across to, but nicotine is a drug that you can choose

not to be poisoned with.

Determine in your hearts to keep the temple of the

Lord (my body) to be free of nicotine poisoning. It

will be a choice you will not regret.
