Difference between what we

teach and other trainers• According to HSE Working

Group on Work-related

Aggression and Violence 2008

‘off the shelf trainers’ provide

– ‘One size fits all approach’

– ‘Training is a licensed

product so commercially

influenced’

– Trainers have only weeks

of training

– Provider led

– Participant needs only

partially met

• Us– Training is participant centred

– Programme content is determined

by a training need analysis which

assesses the tasks, places and

processes of work, appraisal of

records, consideration of the

prevailing professional, legal and

ethical parameters in which staff

work

– Learning outcomes are

• Service specific

• Service user specific

• Needs assessed

• Fit for Purpose
