9th Russian-Norwegian Oil & Gas Conference

Subsea Development of the Kirinskoye Field

Presented by: Endre Smedsrud, FMC Technologies

St Petersburg, 27th January 2011

Background• FMC Technologies have been working with Subsea Systems

in Russia for 6-7 years

• Main focus have been study work at different fields in the arctic area

• Late 2009 we were challenged by Gazprom Dobycha Shelf to develop a gas field in the Sakhalin area as a fast track subsea to beach development. Deliveries to take place summer 2011!

• An impressive decision making ability was demonstrated on the Russian side

• A start up contract was signed in April 2010, including long lead items.

• Signing of the final Hardware Contract (EPC) took place end June 2010.

Kirinskoye Subsea DevelopmentWell Location

Kirinskoye Subsea DevelopmentXmas Tree

• Enhanced Horizontal Xmas Tree (EHXT) System

• 5-1/8” Production x 2-1.16” Annulus bores

• Tubing Hanger located within XT body

• Connects to a UWD-15 wellhead

• Separately retrievable modules:– Choke Module (CM)

– Subsea Control Module (SCM)

Choke Module

Contains instrumentation in a retrievable module:

• 5” Production Choke Valve

• 2” MEG Flowloop

• Multi Phase Flow Meter

• MEG Dosing Throttle Valve

• Acoustic Sand Detector

• Erosion Probe

• Dimensions: 1,4 x 2,8 x 2,6 m

Kirinskoye Subsea DevelopmentSubsea Control Module

Kirinskoye Subsea DevelopmentSubsea Control System

• Electro-hydraulic closed control system

• Flow metering system• Provides live feedback of well data• Controlled by operator from Master

Control Station (MCS)• Connects to subsea equipment via

dedicated control Umbilical• XT mounted Subsea Control

Module• 2 x SCM on manifold• ESD and PSD link to onshore plant

Kirinskoye Subsea DevelopmentHydrate Prevention Strategy

• Cold temperatures and cooling effect of choking combined with produced water necessitate hydrate mitigation

• Chosen strategy is for continuous injection of MEG to inhibit produced water

• MEG injected at each Xmas Tree down stream of multiphase metering

• Remedial action by depressurizing
