What about “Great Things...”.
In 2001, Kyocera and Copystar launches the 2530 and 3530. These “clean sheet” design
MFPs quickly became the benchmark for all Copystar Products, and served notice to our com-
petition that the Copystar Brand and Kyocera Technology was a force to be reckoned with.
In 2003, our company continued the tradition with the CS-3035, CS-4035, and CS-5035,
redefining what the term “Workgroup Multifunctionals” could mean for your customers. With
strong features and options, and “Best in Class” drum yields and preventive maintenance, and
unsurpassed reliability, these impressive MFPs have been extremely successful for Copystar
and our valued Dealers.
Now, in 2006, we’ve has taken a bold step forward with three new Monochrome
Multifunctionals, the CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050. Exciting new Workgroup MFPs that
expand the possibilities for your customers. Standard Network Printing. Standard Color
Scanning. An exciting new Color Touch Screen Interface. New features and options that
improve performance, exemplify ease of use in an imaging device, and provide the reliability
and durability that the market expects from the Copystar Brand.
“Great Things...” indeed. Here and now. The wait is over.

Standard Printing and Scanning
When a discussion of the benefits that Digital
technology affords with Imaging Devices, the
single most important benefit has been the abil-
ity to incorporate printing with the traditional
“office copier”. This feature provided customers
with a single footprint output device, often
reducing expenses and simplifying device man-
agement, and improving productivity in the
workplace. As Digital Technology evolved in our
industry, the addition of Network Scanning has
become a required feature and function that
customers are interested in.
The new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 offer
standard Network Printing and Scanning in
addition to traditional copy functionality. These
additional standard functions offer customers a
clear choice from a manufacturer that has
always been at the forefront of technology. Very
few customers are looking for a “:copier only”
device, with the market shifting to the connect-
ed product in every business environment and
vertical market. Standard Network Printing,
Scanning and Copying on the
CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 provides a
competitive advantage, addresses market
requirements, and most importantly, gives cus-
tomers the best that technology has to offer.
Single Board Architecture
The new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 also
mark a new direction for Copystar
Multifunctional Products with the introduction of
a new single board controller for Print and
Scan. With previous products, two separate IP
(Internet Protocol) addresses were required for
Network Printing and Scanning, theoretically
complicating management for IT in larger
accounts, and requiring Dealers to provide
additional equipment, such as hubs for cus-
tomers, in both large and small installs.
The new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 pro-
vide a new Single Board Architecture on the
controller, so a single IP is required for Printing
and Scanning, as well as Network and Internet
Faxing when the optional Fax System (M) has
been installed.
Color Scanning
In addition to Standard Network Scan function-
ality, the new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050
incorporate Color and Monochrome Scan capa-
bilities. This is a significant improvement over
the previous models, and provides a strong
competitive advantage in the market today.
True Color Scanning with a Monochrome MFP
gives customers looking for an integrated scan-
ning solution a cost-effective alternative for
Document Input and Output.
Color scanning is also an incredible value-add
for customers interested in the KYOcapture
Document Capture Workflow Solution that can
be integrated with the new CS-5050, CS-4050
and CS-3050. Documents can be captured,
processed and routed as color images, so
absolute document integrity can be maintained.
Expanded/Shared Memory Resources
The new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 take
advantage of shared memory resources for
Print, Send and Copy. Standard RAM (Random
Access Memory) is set at 512MB, upgradeable
to an incredible 1GB. These new Workgroup
MFPs also feature a standard 40GB HDD for
Document Printing and Kyocera’s new
Document Box. Previous models offered two
individual 20GB HDD options, raising overall
costs to the customer.

Document Box
One of the many new features that will differen-
tiate the new Workgroup Multifunctionals from
the competition is the standard Document Box
function accessible from the new Color Touch
Screen Interface (TSI).
Document Box allows indi-
vidual users and groups to
deliver print and scanned
data to the 40GB HDD on
the new MFPs for storage. Once stored, these
documents can be sent via Scan or Fax func-
tion to an ultimate destination. Customers who
frequently transmit the same documents
repeatedly will find this especially beneficial.
This includes companies that provide training
materials and manuals, static forms, or price
lists and inventories.
Color Touch Screen Interface
When comparing the new Workgroup MFPs to
the previous models, one of the most striking
differences is the addition of the Color Touch
Screen Interface on the CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050 models. This Color Touch Screen is
designed with the customer’s environment and
workflow in mind. Simple and easy to use, this
GUI (Graphical User Interface) is very intuitive.
The addition of Color is also benefit to the cus-
tomer, making icons and features easier to rec-
ognize, simplifying the Copy and Send
processes. Icons for features such as duplex
and finishing have also been improved to
improve a customers experience with a
Kyocera Multifunctional.
The Color Touch Screen is positioned on a
newly designed Control Panel. This Control
Panel is Section 508 Compliant, and can be
adjusted for disabled users.
Network Authentication
For any Workgroup or Enterprise, protecting
the network is a key corporate mandate. Many
of the markets you will prospect will require
Network Authentication on any MFP that is
installed on the network.
The CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 offer
standard Network Authentication, using NTLM
(Windows® NT) or KERBEROS (Server
2000/2003). With Network Authentication
turned on, users will be required to login to the
MFP using their unique network ID and pass-
word.
Administrators can also setup Local
Authentication with a user name and pincode
security is an issue, but it is not critical to use
Network Authentication.
New Features Abound
The new Workgroup Multifunctionals offer so
much in the way of new technology and
improvements that an in-depth explanation is
required in each area of this Product Guide.
From Paper Handling and Finishing, to connec-
tivity and document sending, the new
CS-5050, CS-4050, and CS-3050 push the
boundaries to new limits. Each section of this
Product Guide will outline and highlight what’s
new and important, and provide you with an in-
depth explanation.

New Features
When design consideration were first drawn up
on the new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050
Workgroup Multifunctionals, a number of new
and innovative features were included. These
new features are part of a strategy to provide a
high performance, easy to use, secure and reli-
able MFP that benefits customers environ-
ments.
Marketing these new features to prospective
and existing clients will be a key selling strate-
gy you will want to explore.
Performance
When describing performance, it is necessary
to expand our idea of what performance
means. For the Workgroup and Departmental
customer, performance encompasses the pro-
ductivity and versatility of the MFP, and the
impact on business workflow. Customers will be
interested in how individual features and func-
tions can improve their in-place business per-
formance.
New Features (Performance):
• Document Box
• Improved Scanning Features
Scan to FTP
Scan to Folder via SMB
LDAP Standard
• Multi Access Functions
• Multi Send Functions
• Advanced Job Programs
Document Box
Document Box is an on-board storage/sharing
solution utilizing the standard 40GB HDD. With
Document Box, users will be able to print criti-
cal documents quickly, directly from the Color
Touch Screen Interface.
Multi Tasking Functions
Workgroup and Departmental users are typical-
ly engaged in a variety of document processes
involving not only copying, but also printing,
scanning and faxing of hardcopy and digital
documents. The adoption of a new platform on
the CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 with Multi-
Access Functions to enable the processing of
multiple jobs simultaneously is and incredible
benefit and indispensable feature for the cus-
tomer, designed to improve employee produc-
tivity in every office environment.
With previous models, Print, Scan, Copy and
Fax functions operate independently, with a dif-
ferent board installed for each function. Multiple
jobs could not be processed simultaneously.
The new Workgroup 5050, 4050 and 3050
MFPs are built on a single board architecture,
with the ability to process documents from dif-
ferent functions simultaneously. This is a vast
improvement for any customer’s environment,
and provides a true improvement in perform-
ance.
Multi Send Functions
With Multi Send, the new CS-5050, CS-4050
and CS-3050 can send documents to vastly dif-
ferent destinations from a single scan, greatly
improving overall productivity in any busy work-
group.
Multi Send allows users to send documents
simultaneously to:
• FTP Sites • e-Mail Addresses
• Network Folders • Fax Destinations
Multi Send is a key competitive differentiator of
these products, so plan to demonstrate the
benefits of this performance-improving feature.

Job Programs (50)
Unlike most devices in the market, with limited
functionality for copy job programs, the
5050/4050/3050 MFPs capitalize on Single
Board Architecture and provide up to 50 Job
Programs for Copy and Send functions. Access
is quick and simple, with a button on the left
side of the Control Panel.
Ease of Use
One of the considerations many of your cus-
tomers will question is the simplicity, or ease of
use of your solution. Kyocera designed the new
Copystar CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 with
this point in mind, and has incorporated many
new features that address this concept.
New Features (Ease of Use):
• Color Wide Touch Screen Interface
Improved Icons
• Advanced Help Key/Help Guidance
• Dual Scan (Color) Document
Processor
• Operation Status LEDs
• Job Finish Notice (Copy/Send)
• USB Host Interface
• DF-710 Finisher Sub Tray (C)
• Improved DP visibility and accessibility
• Improved Paper Cassettes
The most striking feature at first glance of the
new models is the Color Wide Touch Screen
Interface that many customers will consider the
“window” to the MFP. Color Touch Screens are
easier to navigate and use than traditional
Mono panels, simplifying all of the functions for
every user. The Color Wide Touch Screen also
features the Thumbnail Viewer and improved
icons for features such as duplex, finishing,
booklets, etc.
In addition to improved icons and the addition
of color on the Control panel, the devices also
incorporate an Advanced Help Key/Help
Guidance function for on-board assistance with
product features, as well as the occasional mis-
feed or service issue. This is a benefit to users
who would like to use all of the superior fea-
tures of the product, but are not quite sure how
to execute the actions.
An optional 100 Sheet Dual Scan Document
Processor has been designed for the CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050. This Dual Scan
Document Processor (DSDP) scans single and
dual sided pages in a single scan, similar to the
Document Processor on the CS-8030 and
CS-6030 Enterprise MFPs. What makes the
DP-710 option so innovative is the ability to
scan color and monochrome pages. In
Monochrome mode, the DP-710 can scan at up
to 50 originals per minute (simplex); in Color
mode, up to 25 pages per minute (simplex).
In busy Workgroups and Departments, a device
that stops working due to a misfeed or other
issue can be detrimental to all users who rely
on a central unit to Print, Send and Copy
important documents. With this in mind, the
new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 were
designed with Operation Status LEDs that pro-
vide users with the ability to see what the sta-
tus of the device is without the need to go
directly to the Control Panel. The Operation
Status LEDs can be viewed from across a
room of department.

The innovative USB Host Interface is a feature
that could be a benefit to Performance, Ease of
Use or Security. Located directly on the right
side of the Control Panel, the USB Host inter-
face serves a dual purpose; first, it simplifies
and firmware or software upgrades that may be
required, or optional, in the case of the High
Compression PDF Kit and Data Security Kit.
Secondly, it allows users to print PDF data
stored on a common USB “thumb drive”
quickly, efficiently and securely.
For printing PDF documents, users would
access the Media Box at the Document Box on
the Control Panel. Once the proper document
is selected, any page document/page attributes
such as duplex and finishing can be assigned.
Please note that the USB Host Interface can
only recognize and output PDF data.
Security
Security of data, documents and the network is
a prerequisite in many companies, especially
any industry that faces compliance regulations
from Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), HIPAA, or other
federal government mandates. The CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 will feature many new
security features that should be a competitive
advantage when marketing these products.
New Features (Security):
• Network and Local Authentication
• HDD Overwriting/Encryption
• PDF Encryption and Compression
• IP Filtering
• Secure Watermark (via KX Driver)
Authentication
Network Authentication is a strong security
component that many corporate IT
Departments will request as a necessary fea-
ture. With the new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-
3050, the devices can be set so that
Authentication is required whenever a user
sends a document across the network. Network
Authentication supports Windows® Active
Directory, so users will be required to enter the
same login name and password as required on
their individual PCs. The authentication level
supports Kerberos and NTLM authentication.
Local Authentication is a device-based security
protocol that requires users to enter a pincode
that has been registered at the MFP. This
works in conjunction with the Account
Management system of the MFPs and provides
a level of device security for smaller
Workgroups and Companies that may not have
server authentication implemented.
HDD Overwrite/Encryption
Data security and document confidentiality are
also critical criteria when compliance is a factor.
Many companies adhere to specific compliance
statutes such as Sarbanes-Oxley or HIPAA, or
print, send and copy highly confidential material
that cannot be compromised. For these types
of environments, the new Workgroup MFPs
offer an optional Data Security Kit (C), which
can encrypt and overwrite data at the device
level. This is a strong competitive advantage
that only a number of manufacturers can offer.
Data Security Kit (C) will undergo evaluation for
ISO 15408 Certification after launch.

The image below illustrates the methodology
behind our new Data Security Kit (C).
With Encryption included in the process, not
only is the data management table eliminated,
but also the image data itself, providing a
stronger security solution for any company
looking to utilize Data Security Kit (C).
IP Filtering
For IT management and administration, the
new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 supports
IP Filtering, allowing administrators to desig-
nate, by IP segment, individual assignments to
prevent unauthorized usage and ensure net-
work security.
IP Filters can be assigned for the following:
• SMTP
• FTP
• IPP
• LDAP
• HTTP
• RAW Port
In competitive situations, the ability to filter indi-
vidual protocols will be a large advantage for
the Copystar Sales Consultant.
Secure Watermark (KX Driver)
One of the new features available for the
KX Driver is the Secure Watermark feature that
can be used in conjunction with the new
CS-5050/CS-4050/CS-3050 MFPs.
The KX Driver Secure Watermark places a faint
watermarked image in the background of the
original printed document, similar to any other
watermark. When this original document is
copied, this watermark and the background are
printed

Connectivity
The ability to integrate seamlessly into an
Administrator’s network is an asset for any
Workgroup or Enterprise. Simple installation,
minimal interaction and reduced troubleshoot-
ing are all items on any IT departments wish
list.
The OPTIMIZE strategy, targeted at IT, is one
of the many factors that customers will find
beneficial when they invest in the new
CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 MFPs. This
strategy is to provide intuitive, efficient and pro-
ductive network components, from the MFP
hardware to software and utilities that assist in
the day to day management and solution imple-
mentation that an Information Technology
department faces.
Network Setup
The new Workgroup MFPs connects quickly
and efficiently to the network in any environ-
ment. The Single Board Controller offers a
standard 10/100BaseTX interface that can be
controlled directly from the desktop with the
web-based Kyocera Command Center (KCC).This useful tool can be accessed from most
Web Browsers, including Internet Explorer,
Netscape Navigator, Mac’s Safari or any other
browser currently supported.
The IP Address can be assigned to the device
(static or dynamic) from the Control Panel or
the Quick Setup Tool. Once the appropriate IP
scheme has been designated, the KyoceraCommand Center can be accessed, and
advanced networking commands and settings
can be entered. This web page can be given a
password and secured, so only authorized
Network Administrators can change settings
when the need arises.
What’s most important to your customers and
IT contacts is that full network control of the
CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 is available at
the desktop, so Administrators can focus on the
day-to-day tasks of their job, and not have to
devote their time to managing the MFP.
From Kyocera Command Center, administra-
tors can also set the IP Filters, turn on/off the
IPP (Internet Printing Protocol), and set e-Mail
(SMTP and POP3) and Management settings
at the desktop.
Business environments that determine that
Network Authentication is required at the
device can set the proper Authentication set-
tings in Kyocera Command Center.
With Kyocera Command Center, the ability to
select and designate any network setting pro-
vides administrators with a powerful tool that
can simplify their day-to-day tasks.

KM-NET Suite
When customers think of the Copystar Brand,
our award-winning Copier/MFP Products and
Kyocera Printers are what come to mind. But
beyond the hardware, our company has been
at the forefront of the Information Technology
field for over twenty years in IT-related manu-
facturing and Research and Development
(R&D).
One of the core components of Connectivity is
our KM-NET Suite of Software and Utilities for
the Administrative and End-User. These com-
prehensive tools offer a tremendous “value-
add” to any company. Whether your audience
is the Administrator, Key Operator or end-user,
KM-NET Suite delivers a strong message.
KM-NET Viewer
KM-NET Viewer (KMNV) is the leading piece
of the suite, and is offered as either a stand-
alone Windows® utility or as a web-based tool,
with some slight differences. For the
Workgroup environment within a company, with
the possibility that multiple Administrators may
be monitoring device activity, KM-NET Viewerfor Web is recommended. The standalone utili-
ty will be best suited for networks which will
require only one or two sessions of the utility
active simultaneously.
Information inside KMNV is both precise and
pro-active, and available in real-time, so any
issues can be addresses as soon as they arise.
This point of attack allows overall productivity
to be maintained, which will increase the ROI
from a technology factor.
Another facet of KM-NET Viewer is our ability
to monitor not only Kyocera devices, but those
of other vendors as well. In a perfect world, all
of our customer’s would have nothing but the
systems we market and sell, but reality tells us
that other devices are on customer’s networks.
In the meantime, customers should be aware of
the value that KMNV brings to their business,
even with other brands.
KM-NET Viewer gives Administrators the abili-
ty to filter devices by Model Number, Speed,
Group, Status and Protocol. The ability to
arrange by filter and create groups based on
department or floor plan is particularly advanta-
geous, so diagnostics and any subsequent
actions are easier to perform.
KM-NET Viewer Web Edition 2.0
KM-NET Viewer Web Edition 2.0 is built on a
Java® platform, guaranteeing stability and
allowing cross-platform integration. KMNV Web2.0 can be supported across Windows®, Linux
and UNIX platforms, giving Network
Administrators a great deal of flexibility manag-
ing the network.
A more intuitive graphic interface has been
added, making it easier to navigate, add, and
administrate devices. KM-NET Viewer Web 2.0
supports all Kyocera Printers and
Multifunctionals, as well as other brands.

KM-NET for Clients
In larger companies and environments, device
administration and management may be han-
dled at multiple levels. Each department or
workgroup may be responsible for the daily
tasks associated with their output devices. In
this case, an all-encompassing tool such as
KM-NET Viewer may be more than manage-
ment is willing to distribute. Key Operators and
Managers have an obligation to their own point
of need. For this important assignment,
Kyocera developed a utility called KM-NET forClients.
Unlike KMNV, which can view all output
devices on the network, KM-NET for Clientscan view up to five (5) Kyocera or Copystar
devices at a single time. Once installed, the
utility can perform a search on the local net-
work segment or port. Once auto-discovery is
accomplished, up to five devices can populate
the utility for administration. A Virtual Front
Panel will be accessible, showing machine sta-
tus, estimated paper levels and default Page
Description Language (PDL) of the interface.
As an added value, KM-NET for Clients gives
users the ability to output any temporary or per-
manently stored print jobs on the HDD. This
data is rasterized at the HDD, so documents
can be output quickly and efficiently. Document
settings, including duplexing and finishing can
also be adjusted, so the desired output is
always correct.
KM-NET for Accounting
For the customer who has a need for tracking
usage of our new Workgroup MFPs, KM-NETfor Accounting (KMNA) is software for depart-
mental access and accountability. This tool will
be an integral part of any company that wishes
to track usage for departmental or client
charge-backs.
Key features of KMNA include:
• User authorization to access utility to
secure account information
• Remote Activation/Deactivation of
device
• Job Account Management feature
• Remote Account Management for
Print, Scan, Copy and Fax volumes
• Auto Device Discovery and
Registration
• Select Spreadsheet or Graphical View
of Account Codes
• Import/Export for Accounting Code
and Printing System database back up
Enterprise System Management
Since the CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050
Multifunctionals may be targeted within large
companies workgroups, many of these cus-
tomers may have already invested in
Enterprise System Management (ESM) solu-
tions from another party. These customers will
be looking for a device that can fit within their
infrastructure. Some of the ESM solutions that
our Products can integrate with include:
• HP Web JetAdmin®
• HP OpenView®
• IBM Tivoli®
• Novell® NDPS Monitor
In any instance where integration with these types of
solutions are critical to the successful implementation
of any Kyocera device, please contact your Regional
Sales Engineers or Network Solutions Managers.

Controller
The CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 all use
Kyocera’s new Single Board Architecture and a
single Network Interface (NIC) for Printing, as
well as Sending. This single board controller
features an embedded PowerPC® RISC pro-
cessing chip, delivering high performance for
any customer’s printing environment.
The CPU of the controller has a ‘clock speed”
of 600MHz (MegaHertz), which is very competi-
tive for MFPs in this range. Most competitive
MFPs top out at 500MHz, with quite a few in
the 300MHz range. Faster clock speeds pro-
vides faster processing times of documents,
improving the overall efficiency of the device,
and inevitably, the customers workload.
Document Output
When discussing Document Output, and how it
pertains to the overall look and layout of the
printed page, three critical factors play a major
role in the process.
Resolution often refers to the sharpness or
clarity of an image, or document. Resolution for
printing is explained as “dots per inch” or dpi. A
device capable of higher resolutions will often
appear smoother or “fuller” than a printer imag-
ing at a lower resolution. Customer’s will recog-
nize a notable difference from 300 x 300 dpi to
600 x 600 dpi output.
Adding to the equation is the ability to enhance
the resolution with interpolation. This process
increases the printed image data in one direc-
tion or another to give a finer line or graphical
image on paper. The CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050 can output pages at an interpolated
resolution of Fast 1200 Mode without any loss
of engine speed. Fast 1200 Mode is an interpo-
lated 1800 x 600 dpi resolution.
Page Description Languages (PDLs)
Page Description Languages or PDLs are the
embedded command sets that a printer under-
stands for document output. The most common
PDLs in an office environment will be PCL
(Printer Control Language) or PostScript. The
new Kyocera Workgroup MFPs support both of
these PDLs, as well as other PDLs that will
often be found in environments, such as back-
office or mainframe printing.
PCL XL is an extended PCL language based
on PCL 6 and 5e, that supports advanced print-
er features, and is device dependent.
Documents printed using PCL language are
usually general office documents created in
popular office programs. Printing documents
with PCL sends the data from the application
with the print commands for page layout and
output is dependent on the device.
PostScript is a PDL most commonly used with
desktop publishing software, though it can be
used for office applications as well. PostScript
is device independent and utilizes a PPD
(PostScript Printer Definition) to output pages.
The PPD sets the page layout without any
device requirements, so documents can be
printed from one device to the next without any
issues. Kyocera provides a PostScript emula-
tion called KPDL3 with our devices as stan-
dard.
The CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 support
the following PDLs:
• PCL XL (PCL 6 and PCL 5e)
• KPDL3 (PostScript 3)
• KC-GL (HP-GL/2)
• Diablo 630
• IBM ProPrinter X24
• Epson LQ850
• Line Printer

P R I N T
Kyocera’s ability to emulate a variety of PDLs
provides our products with a significant advan-
tage in any environment that requires integra-
tion with operating systems beyond a typical
Windows model. Customers with Macs, Linux
systems or running UNIX will find that Kyocera
is a critical choice to solve their printing issues.
Font Support
Business documents printed on monochrome
devices, whether they are MFPs or Printers,
will typically be text-intensive, rather than
graphics-intensive. Because this is the case,
the appearance of the text, or fonts, is impera-
tive for any output device. The new CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 Workgroup MFPs will
provide customers the following Font Outlines:
• 80 Outlines for PCL XL/5e
• 136 Outlines for KPDL3
• 1 Bitmap Font Outline
Font Support for popular TrueType Outlines
will guarantee that documents look exactly how
the person printing has intended. The
KX Driver will allow users to select a variety of
choices.
Driver Support
One of the benefits that Kyocera has over the
competition is the Print Driver Support that
we provide for all of our products. The comput-
ing world is not only made up of PCs, but also
includes Macs, Linux, and UNIX Operating
systems, all with different requirements from an
MFP or Printer.
Kyocera provides the following Print Drivers:
• KX Driver
• Windows® 64-bit Drivers
• Certified Uni Drivers
• PPDs for Mac
• PPDs for Linux/UNIX
Providing a Print Driver for every OS, and stan-
dard cross-platform compatibility is a strength
that these products will bring to any diverse
Workgroup or Enterprise. For IT, providing a
choice of Drivers for every OS simplifies device
management and deployment. Users do not
need a to print to a special device for their OS,
eliminating the task of inventorying supplies
and parts for a device that is not used to it’s
fullest potential.
For Windows® users, the CS-5050, CS-4050
and CS-3050 provides our innovative
KX Driver for most users. The KX Driver for
Windows® is unique in the industry, providing
a strong competitive advantage in your market-
ing efforts. The KX Driver has the same look
and feel for all PC users, no matter what ver-
sion of Windows® is installed, what Kyocera or
Copystar device is used, or what PDL (PCL or
KPDL) is selected. This benefits IT with the
ability to deploy a single driver per device
across a company that may be running differ-
ent versions of Windows® Operating systems.
Since the driver looks the same from one
Kyocera device to the next, incidences of help
desk and printing assistance can be drastically
reduced, eliminating the burden on IT. For the
people actually printing in an every day situa-
tion, using the KX Driver will be a benefit
because it is easily navigated and simple to
use. When the time comes to upgrade the OS
on their PC, they have already mastered the
driver, so human error and associated print
waste can be
kept at a min-
imum.

Kyocera’s KX Driver for Windows® supports all Kyocera and Copystar Products (Printers
and MFPs), PDLs (PCL XL/5x; KPDL3) and Windows® OS in a single unified GUI. This is
a major advantage when discussing our Products with Network Administrators,
Department Heads and end-users within an organization.

Windows® 64-bit Drivers
Microsoft’s launch of 64-bit versions of
Windows® XP and Server 2003 has provided a
platform for greater scalability and improved
performance. Positioned as an alternative to
UNIX, 64-bit computing is becoming a force in
Corporate America. Kyocera has responded to
this change in the market by releasing our own
Windows® 64-bit Drivers for our products,
including the new CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050 MFPs. These new 64-bit Drivers are
available for PCL or PostScript, enabling IT to
deploy drivers designed for their OS of choice
to the users on the network.
Certified Uni Drivers
The Certified Uni Drivers for PCL or
PostScript are also designed for Windows®
environments, such as Terminal Services, or
other Server-Based Computing (SBC) platforms
like CITRIX MetaFrame or Tarantella.
PPDs for Macintosh
While Apple Macintosh® computers will be a
small percentage of computing devices you
encounter, the ability to provide a precise print-
ing solution, for the latest Mac OS’ is a benefit.
Users in a corporate environment who utilize
Macs may be strong influencer for Imaging
product choices inside a company. Mac users
will be especially eager to hear that the
CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 offer the lat-
est PPDs for Mac OS’ up to and including OS
10.4 (Tiger). Combined with a strong message
about these new Workgroup
MFPs scanning capabilities in a Mac environ-
ment should be a strong argument for placing
any of these new MFPs inside that company.
PPDs for Mac provide users with control over
advanced printing functions and features such
as duplex and finishing. In addition, job storage
using the new Document Box function is also
available.
PPDs for Linux/UNIX
One of the benefits that providing a PostScript
emulation (KPDL3) as a standard feature of our
print controller on these new models is the abil-
ity to integrate in both Linux and UNIX environ-
ments. Both the Linux open source and UNIX
architectures utilize a PostScript Printer
Definition to enable printing.
For most environments, the CUPS (Common
UNIX Print System):
“CUPS provides a portable printing layer forUNIX®-based operating systems. It is devel-oped and maintained by Easy SoftwareProducts to promote a standard printing solu-tion and is the standard printing system in MacOS® X and most Linux® distributions.”(Source: CUPS.org)
Kyocera’s PPD for the CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050 supports the CUPS print layer, and
integrates seamlessly into these alternative
types of environments.
In addition to CUPS, Kyocera partners with
CodeHost for the BrightQ® solution for Linux
and UNIX printing environments. BrightQ® is a
“windows-like” GUI that gives users an easy to
use interface.

stress the cross-platform compatibility of these
new Workgroup MFPs.
The CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 can be
installed in any of the following networks:
• Windows® 9x/Me/NT4/2000/XP/2003
• Novell NetWare® 3.x/4.x/5.x/6.x
• Mac OS 8.x/9.x/10.x
• UNIX
Protocol Support
The standard controller on the new CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 MFPs support the fol-
lowing network protocols for printing:

Standard Interfaces
The CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 all pro-
vide a number of standard and optional inter-
faces so integration in virtually any printing
environment is possible.
Standard Interfaces include:
• 10/100BaseTX
• High Speed USB 2.0
• Parallel IEEE1284
• USB Host (3)
The standard 10/100BaseTX interface of these
new models is a single NIC, so Printing and
Sending will share an IP address. This elimi-
nates the burden of maintaining or leasing a
higher number of addresses that dual NICs
require.
Print Utilities
Kyocera’s unique Print Utilities expands the
possibilities of any Workgroup, boosting per-
formance and productivity. Print Utilities
include:
• PDF Direct Print
• KX SpoolCenter
• PRESCRIBE Utilities
PDF Direct Print allows users the flexibility to
print PDF documents without the need to open
the file in Acrobat Reader and follow the typical
“CTRL + P” or “File:Print” commands that they
are used to. PDF Direct Print allows files to be
added directly into the PDF Direct PRint queue
for output. Control over duplex, finishing, job
storage and accounting is still available with
PDF Direct Print.
KX SpoolCenter takes multiple Kyocera or
Copystar printing devices and allows business-
es to combine printing power and engine
speeds into an efficient output solution. Up to
three devices can be set to print documents
simultaneously, increasing the output speed
times three. Printing and queues can be set for:
• Tandem Printing

Color and Monochrome Scanning
Customers looking for a strong scanning solu-
tion for their workgroup or business environ-
ment will be very interested in the ability to
scan documents in color. The new CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 will accommodate this
growing trend, incorporating a scanner that can
read color and monochrome images, enhanc-
ing the products capabilities, and allowing cus-
tomers to integrate their color color scanning
requirements with a monochrome output
device.
Scan speed (simplex) from the optional DP-700
Dual Scan Document Processor will be a very
productive 50 originals per minute (OPM) in
Monochrome mode, and 25 OPM in Color
mode. The DP-710 can hold up to 100 Letter-
size originals, maximizing productivity for scan-
ning applications.
Scanned files can be saved in one of three for-
mats, and can be selected from the Color TSI.
In Monochrome mode, files can be scanned as
PDF or TIFF files. In Color mode, scans can be
saved as PDF or JPG files. Resolution can be
selected from 200 to 600 dpi, depending on the
application and intended destination. For
archival, customers may wish to scan at 200
dpi, so file sizes are constrained.

Customers who require OCR (Optical
Character Recognition) for inclusion with other
documents or applications may select a higher
resolution for best results.
The single network interface on the new
Workgroup MFPs allows customers to scan
over a TCP/IP protocol. TCP/IP is an acronym
for Transmission Control Protocol/InternetProtocol, standard addressing scheme in
Ethernet environments. Please note that cus-
tomer’s using IPX/SPX protocol for printing
would also need to utilize TCP/IP for scanning.
Customers interested in scanning/sending will
most likely have requirements that cross differ-
ent functions. The new CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050 provide customers with a choice of
standard scanning functions, as well as the
ability to integrate with our innovative
KYOcapture Document Capture Workflow
Solution and iTag Document Management
Solution*.
Scanning functions on the new Workgroup
Multifunctionals include:
• Scan to e-Mail
• LDAP on-board
• Scan to Folder (SMB)
• Scan to FTP
• TWAIN (PC)

Multi-Send Function
Without a doubt, the most striking feature of the
Send functions is the ability to Multi-Send a
document to multiple and various destinations
from a single scan. This reduces the amount of
time required when the same document must
be sent to many destinations over the course of
time.
With the Multi-Send Feature, users can select
multiple locations from the Consolidated
Address Book or add them on an ad-hoc basis
with the QWERTY-style keyboard from the
Color Wide Touch Screen. Once the appropri-
ate destinations have been selected, the docu-
ment can be scanned and sent in the most effi-
cient manner. Up to 500 destinations can be
set in Multi Send mode.
Scan to e-Mail
Customers often see Scan to e-Mail as one of
the most important aspects of scanning/send-
ing. From the Color TSI and Dual Scan
Document Processor, hard copy documents
can be scanned as PDF, TIFF or JPG files to
be included as attachments with an e-Mail.
The CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 all sup-
port LDAP at the device level, eliminating the
need for the LDAP Converter Utility used in the
past. LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access
Protocol) allows users to obtain addresses
directly from a corporate server for easy and
accurate access.
Scan to Folder
Unlike past Copystar MFPs that used a PC or
Mac utility installed locally on a user’s comput-
er, to enable Scan to Folder features, these
new monochrome Workgroup MFPs utilize the
SMB delivery protocol for documents intended
for a destination folder.
SMB is an acronym for Server Message Block,
a protocol for sharing files, printers, serial ports
and communications abstractions between
computers and peripherals.
SMB is a client server protocol based on
‘request-response’. Using a network’s architec-
ture and infrastructure, scanned files can be
delivered to the intended destination on the
server. In the case of the CS-5050, CS-4050
and CS-3050, the scanner makes the request
and the server sends back a response. Once
completed, the file can be delivered to the
appropriate folder.

With the ability to Scan to Folder via SMB, we
are no longer confined to a Windows® or Mac
environment. SMB can be translated into Linux
architecture with Samba, making Kyocera’s
new Workgroup MFPs a force with virtually any
computing platform.
For many administrators you contact, the elimi-
nation of the Scanner File Utility will also be of
value, simplifying management, which saves
valuable time.
Scan to FTP
The File Transfer Protocol, or FTP, is an effi-
cient and effective way to share large files,
without file size restrictions. Many corporate
accounts will severely limit the size of the files
that can be attached with an e-mail, if they
allow attachments at all in this day of prolific
computer viruses, worms and trojans. FTP is
also designed to transfer files at a high-rate of
speed, since that is the purpose it is primarily
used.
Delivery to an FTP server can alleviate the
headaches that IT faces on a day to day basis.
Since the new CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050 can scan in color, file sizes may tend
to be larger than with a monochrome image, so
these larger files can be shared amongst an
intended group within a secure structure. For
many IT departments, FTP has become the
preferred way to communicate and share docu-
ments.
TWAIN
TWAIN is a widely-used program that lets you
scan an image directly into an application like
PaperPort or Adobe PhotoShop®. The TWAIN
driver runs between an application and the
scanner hardware. The new CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 are all TWAIN compli-
ant for the PC environment.
Consolidated Address Book
The Consolidated Address Book located at the
device level is for Send Functionality, namely
Scan and Fax. The Consolidated Address Book
allows for businesses to store up to 2,000 des-
tinations with e-Mail destinations or Fax num-
bers. Combined with the standard LDAP for
Scan to e-Mail function, the CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 provide a strong com-
petitive advantage for any workgroup.
Kyocera Command Center
Like Network and Print defaults, Kyocera
Command Center also provides control over
scanning defaults and port settings.

Additional Scanning Features
In Scanning Mode, users have the ability to
change default settings and select individual
features that best suit their requirements at the
point of need.
In Send Mode, the Touch Screen Interface uses
a tabbed architecture like Copy Mode. The
Quick Setup tab can be customized with the
Sending features important to a customer’s
business processes.
Scanning Features include:
• Zoom
• Density
• Resolution
• Sending Size
• Image Type
• Color Select
• File Separation
• Image Direction
• Background Density Adjustment
• Border Erase
• Sharpness
• Duplex/Book Scanning
• Mixed Size Scanning
• Continuous Scan
• Long Original
• Centering
• Multi-Page Form
• File Name Entry
• Job Finish Notice
• e-Mail Subject/Body
While many of the available Scanning features
are recognizable, there are new features that
every Sales Consultant should make their cus-
tomers aware of.
File Separation allows users to scan a stack of
documents directly from the Dual Scan
Document Processor and deliver the docu-
ments as individual files. This is especially use-
ful when documents like invoices and bills of
lading are scanned.
Continuous Scan lets users scan more pages
than the Document Processor is capable of
holding, or add scanned pages from directly off
the glass for inclusion inside a scanned docu-
ment. This is incredibly valuable to the Legal,
Financial and Healthcare markets, who may
require information from statutes or laws from
bound books in the document they are scan-
ning.
Long Original provides businesses and indus-
tries that use contracts and forms longer than
17” to process a document in a single scan.
Typical industries that use these forms are the
Auto and Heavy Equipment Leasing markets.
File Name Entry allows users to name the
document at the time it is scanned. This avoids
confusion, especially when documents are
scanned to an FTP or Network folder. File
names can be up to 30 characters long.
Additional information, such as Date & Time
and Job Number can also be input.
Job Finish Notice provides a message via e-
Mail or network notification when a large job
has been completed in Send Mode.
e-Mail Subject/Body allows users to cus-
tomize a message during the Scan to e-Mail
process. This ability assists in the delivery of
documents that may otherwise be trapped in an
e-Mail Servers spam filter*.
With this feature, an e-Mail Subject line can be
set up to 60 characters, and Body text can be
added up to 500 characters.

* Kyocera does not make any claims or guarantees that the e-
Mail Subject/Body feature will allow users to bypass corporate
e-Mail filters and protocols.

For many customers, Printing and
Scanning/Sending will be the functions that
their businesses focus on. In a Workgroup
environment however, copying will always have
a significant presence, as copies will inevitably
be made as required in every office.
When the subject of copying arises, ease of
use is always a concern. If users cannot get
the output they desire quickly and easily, frus-
tration mounts, resulting in decreased job per-
formance.
With this is mind, Kyocera took the necessary
steps to ensure that the new Workgroup MFPs,
the Copystar CS-5050/CS-4050/CS-3050 were
easy to navigate from every screen. This con-
cept starts with the Color Touch Screen
Interface, the first of it’s kind from our company.
Color Touch Screen
The newly designed Color TSI for the CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 is intuitive for the cus-
tomer, with an easy to view color display and
improved icons that assist the user with their
document output requirements. As displayed on
this page, the TSI incorporates a new tabbed
architecture, similar to file folders, so users can
easily find the features required.
The five tabs on the Color TSI include:
• Quick Setup
• Original/Paper/Finishing
• Image Quality
• Layout/Edit
• Advanced Setup
Selecting any of these tabs allows users to
access the features that correspond according-
ly. A Copy feature list is outlined on the next
page.
To simplify the office copying, the Quick Setup
tab can be customized with up to six (6) feature
buttons. These buttons can also be arranged in
any order, determined when the features are
registered.
Another improved feature is the ability to create
Shortcut Keys on the main screen for often
used features. With previous models, only
three Shortcuts could be registered. With the
new CS-5050/CS-4050/CS-3050 models, up to
six Shortcuts can be registered in Copy Mode.
The Touch Screen keyboard can be set to the
following choices:
• QWERTY
• QWERTZ
• AZERTY
Depending on your customer’s natural lan-
guage preference, the keyboard can be set so
it best fits their environment.

resolution, with a 28 sq. inch surface. In addi-
tion to the Color LCD, the Control Panel also
features LEDs for specific functions and mes-
sages on the panel.
Control Panel
In addition to the Color TSI, the Control Panel
has been redesigned with new Function and
Application hard keys, display LEDs and key-
pad area.
New Function/Application Keys
The left side of the Control Panel provides
access for:
• Copy Mode
• Send Mode
• Document Box
• Status
• Program
• Application
While Copy, Send and Document Box are self-
explanatory, the other three hard keys require
further explanation.
Status shows the status of all activity, including
Printing. From the Status key, pending job infor-
mation, as well as job logs can be accessed.
The Program key provides access to
Copystar’s unique 50 Job Programs that are
stored. These Job Programs can be set for
both Copy and Send modes, raising the bar on
office performance and ease of use.
The last key is for Application. Pressing this
button allows users to access the optional iTag
and KYOcapture Solutions when available. This
key will also be used for future functionality of
these models.
System Menu/ Counter
The System Menu key provides access to the
setup and configuration of the MFPs, including
default settings for Copy, Send and Document
Box, customizing the Color TSI, network set-
tings, language and other features that each
customer may wish to change. The System
Menu can be “locked” by an Administrator
directly from the Kyocera Command Center
web interface, so once the appropriate settings
have been made, they can only be changed by
authorized personnel.
The Counter key displays the individual coun-
ters (Copy/Print/Scan/Fax) that have been
printed and scanned This data can also be
printed directly from the TSI on the MFP Status
Page.

In order to improve large work group user pro-
ductivity and performance, it is important to
consolidate the management of a variety of
documents, including scanned images of hard
copy originals, and documents made by com-
puter applications. These documents should all
have the ability to be shared as needed. The
CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 is designed
with a standard Document Box as an on-
board document management solution.
With Document Box, it is possible to save
scanned or printed documents to a specific Box
on the MFP. Whenever it becomes necessary
to access the stored document, it is easily
retrieved and processed from the control panel
or from the PC. The Color TSI of the CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 offers a thumbnail
image of the first page for proof checking to
ensure the right document is being accessed.
Document Box is a functional approach for
Enterprise Workgroups and Departments that
require immediate access to information from a
centrally managed point. Document Box utilizes
the standard 40GB HDD with a default reten-
tion period of 7days. Retention can be set to fit
the company’s requirements as needed. While
total Document management is possible at the
MFP, data can be lost if an issue arises, so
Workgroups may wish to designate that
Document Box be used as a temporary storage
device.
One of the strong product features of the
Document Box is the various functions built
within the system. Document Box includes four
distinct types of boxes, each with a different
purpose and potential use.
The four types of boxes within Document Box
includes:
• CUSTOM BOX
• JOB BOX
• MEDIA BOX
• FAX BOX
CUSTOM BOX
Custom Box can be allocated for individuals
and groups and be used for temporary storing
and sharing information. When users register
individually, User Box can be used as a private
box effectively. A User Box also can save color
images which are scanned.
JOB BOX
When a particular application such as Repeat
Copy or Private Print is selected, Job Box is
used to store and output that specific job. Job
Box supports Job retention mode which is HP
compatible.
MEDIA BOX
Media Box works in conjunction with the USB
Host function of the CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050. With USB Host, data can be printed
directly from a USB “thumb drive”. This is a crit-
ical feature for cus-
tomers who are
interested in a high
level of confiden-
tiality and security.
Portability is also a
key factor of this
feature.
FAX BOX
The Fax Box can save fax documents which
are received by facsimile communication. The
Fax Box can also be used for F-code
Subaddress confidential reception. (Fax Box appears within Document Box only when Fax
System (M) is installed.)

New and Improved Fax Capabilities
Standard Scanning on the new CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 provides any cus-
tomer’s connected to all of the fax features on
these new models, including Network Faxing.
For customers, the ability to fax directly from
the PC or using internet protocols will result in
not only increased productivity, but substantial
savings. Considering that most documents are
created at the desktop, the ability to send a fax
direct from the PC eliminates the need to print
the document first. Depending on your cus-
tomers workflow, they may realize significant
savings, since fax communications can be
accomplished using electronic data.
Incoming faxes can be received electronically
as well, as PDF or TIFF files, and delivered to
a centralized network folder.
Access to the optional Fax Functions on the
new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 are

KM Network Fax Driver
The process of sending a document from the
desktop requires the KM Network Fax Driver,
which installs locally in the PC Printer Folder.
Users electing to PC Fax would access this
Fax Driver in the same manner as printing a
document, so training to use the
KM Network Fax Driver is kept at a minimum.
The KM Network Fax driver is fairly simple, giv-
ing the user control over the media size, page
direction and imaging mode details.
Once the command to PC Fax has been
selected using the “OK” button, the job spools
to the local queue and the Transmission
Control dialogue box appears. Transmission
Control is where all of the necessary TX set-
tings are selected.
Destination Addresses
Fax destinations are set once the Transmission
Control TX Settings appear. These addresses
can be set manually as needed.
Consolidated Address Book
The Consolidated Address Book located at the
device level is for Send Functionality, namely
Scan and Fax. The Consolidated Address Book
allows for businesses to store up to 2,000 des-
tinations with e-Mail destinations or Fax num-
bers. Combined with the standard LDAP for
Scan to e-Mail function, the CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 provide a strong com-
petitive advantage for any workgroup.
Network Fax Reception
Transmitting faxes from the desktop isn’t the
only consideration for Network Fax. A consider-
able amount of resources and savings can be
realized by utilizing Network reception.
Working in conjunction with the fax modem and
and Single Board Architecture, network recep-
tion can be configured. The CS-5050, CS-4050
and CS-3050 will direct incoming faxes to the
appropriate folder. .

While the new CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050 offer many standard features that pro-
vide a strong competitive advantage in your
sales efforts, the addition of paper handling and
finishing options will often make a difference
based on your customer’s workflow demands.
A complete configuration chart can be found in
the Product Overview Section.
Dual Scan Document Processor
The CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 can all
be configured with the new DP-700 100 Sheet
Dual Scan Document Processor (DSDP).The
DP-700 is similar in technology and design to
the DSDP for the KM-8030 and KM-6030
Enterprise Multifunctionals.
Scanning speeds (simplex) on all three models
are 50 OPM for monochrome for copy and
send functions and 25 OPM for color for the
send function.
The optional Dual Scan Document Processor is
a significant change over the preceding models
for the Workgroup, which offered an RADF
option.
The Document Processor on the new MFPs uti-
lizes a “Dual Scan” technology, rather than the
conventional reversing-type, so two sided
pages can be read in a single pass. Changing
this process greatly increases productivity,
since the second side does not need to be
“flipped” to be scanned. By design, the paper
path through the new DSDP is straighter, which
reduces the possibility of mis-feeds, especially
with volatile and sensitive originals. With an
RADF-type feeder, paper may be required to
make five “turns”. With our unique 100 Sheet
Dual Scan Document Processor, only a single
turn is necessary for duplex originals.
As illustrated with the image below, the origi-
nals are fed through the Document Processor
where both sides are scanned. Unlike many
competitive machines that utilize this technolo-
gy, the scanners are offset from each other
slightly, so the intense light from the scanner
cannot bleed through and pick up the residual
image from the other side. This is a factor that
many of our competitors are having an issue
with, but is no concern for Kyocera’s carefully
designed Document Processor.

Paper Handling/ Throughput Options
Paper throughput will be of particular interest to
many customers. All three models come stan-
dard with embedded duplex, 500 x 2 universal
drawers and a 200 Sheet Multipurpose Tray
(MPT). Paper capacity can be maximized for
busy Workgroup environments who may have a
higher paper requirement.
3,000 Sheet Paper Deck
For Workgroups looking for maximum paper
quantity, the PF-750 Paper Deck is capable of
holding 3,000 Sheets of Letter (81/2” x 11”) sized
paper. Like the standard paper drawers, the
PF-750 Deck can accommodate paper weights
from 16 to 28 lb. Bond. With the PF-750 option
added, maximum paper capacity is 4,200
sheets from four sources.
500 x 2 Universal Drawers
Some Workgroups may be less interested in
capacity, and more interested in the number of
paper sources and media size. For these cus-
tomers, the PF-700 Dual Paper Drawers can
be added. The PF-700 offers a 500 x 2 configu-
ration that can accept paper sized from state-
ment to ledger (51/2” x 81/2” - 11” 17”). Paper
weights of 16 to 28 lb. Bond are accepted. With
the PF-700 Dual Paper Drawers installed, max-
imum capacity is 2,200 sheets from five
sources. The PF-700 Option also increases the
total capacity of Legal and Ledger size media
from 1,200 sheets to 2,200 sheets. Customers
in Legal and Financial markets will find this
configuration beneficial, as well as any cus-
tomer who’s finishing requirements will involve
Saddle Stitched Booklets.
Finishing/Output Options
The new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050
MFPs will be installed and utilized in many
environments where document finishing will be
a strong requirement. With a number of finish-
ing and output options available, the right
choice is essential for your customer.
3,000 Sheet Multi-Finisher

Finisher can add a single staple up to 30
sheets of 81/2” x 11”, and 20 sheets of 81/2” x 14”
and 11” x 17” sizes.
DF-720 Internal Finisher
For economy, the CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050 can all be configured with the DF-780
Internal Finisher. This finisher is installed within
the open section below the Control Panel area,
and can staple up to 30 sheets of 81/2” x 11”,
and 20 sheets of 81/2” x 14” and 11” x 17” sizes.
Up to 500 sheets (Letter) can be stacked using
this finisher.
JS-700 Job Separator
The JS-700 Job Separator can also be installed
below the Control Panel in the open space of
the device. This option allows businesses to
direct specific job types, like faxes, to a desig-
nated area, eliminating the burden and confu-
sion of mixing output on a busy MFP. When
installed, the JS-700 can stack 150 sheets dur-
ing the output process.
NOTE: The DF-720 Internal Finisher and JS-700 Job
Separator are mutually exclusive and cannot be
installed together.
In addition to the traditional hardware options
like finishing and paper handling, the new
CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 offer the fol-
lowing:
• Fax Backup Kit (BU-10)
• Data Security Kit (C)
• PDF Expansion Kit (UG-30)
Details regarding the BU-10 Fax Backup Kit are
located in the Fax Section of this Product
Guide, and a complete section regarding the

PDF Expansion Kit (UG-30)
The UG-30 PDF Expansion Kit consists of two
components:
• PDF Compression
• PDF Encryption
The UG-30 option comes complete within a
USB Flash Drive that is installed in one of the
USB Host ports on the single board controller.
Each UG-30 option has a unique serial number
identifier, and can only be installed in one MFP.
Customers who have special requirements for
document transmission or archival may find the
UG-30 option incredibly valuable.
PDF Compression
The PDF Compression component is an
advantage for customers looking to utilize the
standard Color Scanning on the CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050. With our new PDF
Compression, the text and photo (or image)
areas of a scanned document are divided, and
a suitable image compression is applied. File
sizes can be reduced for document storage in
a network folder.
Note: With PDF Compression turned on, scanned
images no longer have the best image quality for doc-
ument output.
PDF Encryption
For customers interested in a high level of
document security when scanning, PDF
Encryption allows users to set a PDF pass-
word at the Control Panel. Once the docu-
ment reaches the intended destination, the
password is required, maintaining the
integrity of the document from anyone not
authorized to access the PDF. Note: PDF Encryption supports 128bit encryption for
Acrobat 5.0 and later and 40bit encryption for Acrobat
3.0 or later.

Improving Business Processes
While scanning has become a feature that’s
been given inclusion in the MFP, the area of
Content Management (CM) is now moving to
the forefront of our industry. Customer
Applications require solutions, and in the past,
our industry has offered “turn key” products that
have rarely integrate with a customer’s work-
flow, or met expectations. Never content to rest
on our laurels, Kyocera recognized this unique
problem and found the perfect solution.
KYOcapture.
KYOcapture is a Document Capture
Workflow Solution that integrates with the
new CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 for
Content Management customers.
KYOcapture is a server-based application,
designed to work within existing Content
Management systems and structures. Now,
companies that rely on these Content manage-
ment systems can integrate products like the
5050/4050/3050 into the environment,
deployed as a printer and copier, realizing a
huge savings over installing multiple devices on
the network. KYOcapture also offers Network
Authentication and ABMSync (Address Book)
components, available as options.
From the Control Panel and Touch Screen
Interface (TSI), users will be able to access any
supporting database or Content Management
software that is crucial to their business.
Complete workflows can also be created within
KYOcapture, so multiple destinations and
applications are possible.
KYOcapture’s key features include:
• Automated document capture from the new
Workgroup MFPs, directly from the Color TSI
• Seamless integration with existing Content
Management systems
• Centralized control of all workflow and device
management
• Custom indexing from the TSI for improved
efficiency
• Drag and drop interface for workflow creation
and adaptation/updating
• Open architecture
• Bi-directional communication for accurate and
quick indexing from TSI
• Flexible and scalable
• Many value-add options
Capture/Process/Route are the ideals that the
KYOcapture solution are built upon. What
makes KYOcapture so unique is the integra-
tion of Kyocera MFPs with the framework of the
NSi product, AutoStore.
Capture/Process/Route
Filling in all of the holes of the
Capture/Process/Route workflow has always
been a challenge for our industry. One side of
the triangle may be strong while the next is
adequate and the last, non-existent.
KYOcapture offers a fully-realized triangle
solution, one of the most comprehensive in the
industry.
4 4
P R O D U C T G U I D E
S O L U T I O N S / K Y O C A P T U R E
Capture
The Capture portion of the triangle is accom-
plished directly from the MFP, namely the new
CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 MFPs.
Directly from the Color Touch Screen, users
can select the desired workflow or database,
and from the QWERTY keypad on the TSI,
enter any pertinent information for indexing.
Documents can be scanned from the 100
Sheet Dual Scan Document Processor, which
is capable of batch scanning, saving valuable
time over a scanner that offers less functionali-
ty. Since the new Workgroup MFPs can scan in
color as well as monochrome, customers will
see a true value-add to this solution integration.
Once scanned, documents are quickly sent
through the network to the intended destina-
tion.
Process
Once a document is captured, a specific
Process (or processes) are set in motion,
depending on the workflow creation.
Documents and information can be extracted,
reformatted, indexed via OCR, or encrypted.
Some of the Processes that can be accom-
plished include:
• Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
• Forms Recognition
• Basic Image Processing
• Virtual Image Processing
• Barcode Recognition
• Document Encryption
• PDF Server
• Watermark
• VB/Java Scripting
Every Process is configurable, as well as cus-
tomizable, so existing infrastructure do not
need to be changed to integrate KYOcapture.
Route
The ability to Route has always been the area
most-lacking in a solution offered in our indus-
try. Quite simply, Enterprise customers are not
interested in “turn key” solutions from Imaging
vendors that have absolutely nothing to do with
how they accomplish their tasks. Integration
within a current structure is imperative to these
customers, and KYOcapture does exactly that.
Some of these destinations include:
• Documentum D5
• Documentum ApplicationXtender
• Domino.Doc
• SharePoint Portal Server
• Hummingbird
• iManage
• OpenText LiveLink
• Lan Fax
• FTP
• Folders & Directories
• IXOS
• Lotus Notes/Domino
• Microsoft Exchange
• ODBC Databases
• Send To PC
• SMTP
• TRIM
• VB/Java Scripts
By integrating with applications that makes
business run, KYOcapture will define new pos-
sibilities in your sales efforts.

Concerns For The Modern Age
In today’s age of information and technology,
one of the growing concerns is security and
confidentiality. This issue has become a
“hotbed” of discussion within our industry, as
well as how it relates in other sectors and verti-
cal markets, such as Healthcare, Government,
Education, and Finance to name a few. Indeed,
sweeping reforms such as Sarbanes-Oxley
(SOX) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability
and Accountability Act) have led manufacturers
to rethink and reconsider the security of cus-
tomers' data stored on Multifunctional Devices.
Kyocera has recognized this dilemma that cus-
tomers in the public and private sectors face,
and has been diligent to provide a solution that
meets the need for data security on our
Multifunctional Products. The new Copystar
CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 Workgroup
MFPs will offer the optional Data Security Kit(C)* to ensure the highest level of confidentiali-
ty is maintained.
Common Criteria Certification
The Common Criteria (CC) is an evaluation
and validation process that utilizes the ISO
15408 international standard as the bench-
mark. This will guarantee the buying public that
products given the CC validation are of the
highest standards, and meets all the neces-
sary requirements put forth by the Common
Criteria Project.
ISO
ISO is an acronym for the “International
Organization for Standardization”. This is a
strategic mark that signifies a feature or prod-
uct is recognized to meet standards set forth
for the manufacturing community.
Data Security Kit (C)
The optional Data Security Kit (C) will provide
customers concerned with security and main-
taining confidentiality the peace of mind that
data cannot be gained from the standard 40GB
Hard Drive of the new CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050.
Selling this optional feature will give your cus-
tomer the following benefits:
• ISO 15408 Compliance
• Protect Confidential Documents
• Reduces security risks
• Designed for every environment
In many of the companies or entities you will
market these products, security will be a signifi-
cant factor. In fact, most of these clients will
have a designated Security Manager orAdministrator who may be instrumental in any
decision-making process when you propose
your products. This person should be contacted
early in the Sales Cycle to answer any and all
objections or questions, and ensure positive
buy-in before the final decision is made. Doing
this will also show that you are proactive, and
interested in the customer’s business and
processes.
Note - Due to ISO guidelines, Data Security Kit (C) has
a serial number identity and cannot be installed in
more than one device.

Data Security Kit (C) offers the following fea-
tures, designed to maintain device integrity:
• Password Protection
• Overwrite Technology
• Encryption Technology
• Automatic Deletion
• Manual Deletion
• Icon Alerts
Password Protection
Administrators will want to begin with the
knowledge that the option is password protect-
ed, and limits access.
Overwrite Technology
“Overwriting” is the method where a device,
whether it’s a computer, or other technology
system reads the data to be removed and
writes over the string using a binary value. In
environments that wish to adhere to the ISO
15408 Common Criteria standard, a 3X
Overwrite method is required. This compre-
hensive method will insert random sets of 0’s
and 1’s (Binary Data) to complete the electronic
deletion.
Encryption Technology
Data Security Kit (C) incorporates Encryption
Technology (AES Encryption) on documents
stored in the Document Box, as well as account
information in the Consolidated Address Book.
This data is encoded to protect it against intru-
sion, manipulation or theft.
Automatic Deletion
Kyocera Workgroup MFPs equipped with the
optional Data Security Kit (C) will automatical-
ly overwrite data when the unit is turned on and
when a Copy/Print/Scan job is finished.
Manual Deletion
Administrators can manually delete data when
required as routine. This is especially important
when a machine will be moved to another
department or area, or is taken out of service.
Icon Alerts
When the optional Data Security Kit (C) is
installed, icons will populate the Touch Screen
Interface and are capable of displaying when
an overwrite or deletion is taking place.
Data Security Kit (C) will overwrite all data on
the standard 40GB HDD. Integrity can be main-
tained over all Print, Send and Copy data, as
well as data stored within the device itself.

Long Life Technology
Kyocera’s tradition of incorporating long life
consumables and industry leading yields and
preventive maintenance is truly a great benefit
to the consumer. The simple premise to provide
the most reliable MFPs on the market is infor-
mation that can make the difference in a com-
petitive situation when marketing these new
Workgroup Multifunctionals.
Drum
The CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 all utilize
an Amorphous Silicon (ASi) Drum for imaging.
This ASI Drum is manufactured by Kyocera,
and is one of the most durable surfaces known
to the world. By including an ASI Drum,
Kyocera can manufacture a product with
astounding drum yields. The rated yields are in
the table below:
Based on current competitive models, the drum
yields of the CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050
offer a significant advantage to the customer.
Monocomponent Toner
All three of these products are
Monocomponent, so no developer needs to be
added between Preventive Maintenance sched-
ules, as is the case with competitive dual-com-
ponent MFPs. Monocomponent Technology is
beneficial to the customer, since the image
printed on the page does not degrade over
time with developer depletion during normal
imaging.
Customers with the new CS-5050, CS-4050
and CS-3050 need only replace toner when
required, simplifying their interaction with these
MFPs. Toner replacement is simple and
straightforward, with the sealed toner container
accessed from the front. The toner container
slides easily in the cavity above the engine,
quickly and without mess.
The Toner Container for the CS-5050,
CS-4050 and CS-3050 is exclusive to these
three models and cannot be interchanged with
a printer toner. The rated yield on this toner is
34,000 impressions based on a 6% fill ratio.
A new feature on the TK-719 Toner Container
is the inclusion of an RFID (Radio Frequency
Identification) chip to ensure that customer’s
use the proper toners for these devices.
Preventive Maintenance
Preventive Maintenance or PM, is the interval
determined for Maintenance Kit replacements,
and is set to identify when these replacements
are necessary to ensure the MFP is working up
to manufacturer specification. During the PM of
the CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050, the main-
tenance kit specific to that machine is replaced
by an Authorized and Certified Service
Technician according to service guidelines.
During a PM on these MFPs, the only item that
is replaced is the maintenance kit which con-
sists of the drum assembly, developer assem-
bly, fixing unit, transfer assembly and miscella-
neous feed rollers. By providing all of the
required parts in one kit, Service Technicians
can perform a PM very quickly, with the whole
PM taking 20-30 minutes. Customers requiring
a PM at the appropriate intervals will be up and
running quickly, maximizing uptime.

Integrity
When customers look at this industry and what it has to offer in the mid-volume range,
and ultimately decide what’s best for their businesses, the CS-5050, CS-4050 and
CS-3050 offer the best choice for the market. High Performance MFPs with unsur-
passed reliability and durability are critical in busy workgroup environments. The
CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 offers high performance and productivity, with innova-
tive new features, both standard and optional. On the Solutions side, Security and
Document Management are key components in the marketing of these devices to your
customers, and Kyocera’s iTag and KYOcapture Document Solutions allow you to pen-
etrate new markets that may have been difficult to succeed in before. Finally, Kyocera’s
legacy to providing the most reliable imaging devices in the industry, with our “Best In
Class” high yield ASi Drums and Preventive Maintenance schedules, and monocompo-
nent technology for long life and outstanding image quality are testament that this com-
pany and our Authorized Dealers are committed to our mutual customers, both present
and future, and wish to provide the most comprehensive products, solutions and serv-
ice that technology has to offer.
The CS-5050, CS-4050 and CS-3050 are products and solutions that demonstrate the
progression of the Copystar Brand and Kyocera Technology and I look forward to our
continued success.
