Polymer Concrete Performance

QUAZITE traffic signal cabinet bases and pads are constructed of strong polymer concrete and reinforcedwith a heavy-weave fiberglass. Unlike concrete bases, polymer concrete bases are frangible and willbreak away when subjected to severe impact. This feature helps reduce the risk of serious injury orfatalities resulting from these incidents.

QUAZITE polymer concrete traffic signal cabinet bases and pads also resist UV rays, chemicals and waterabsorption. Concrete bases are susceptible to damage caused by freeze/thaw cycles. Thermoplasticfiberglass bases can become brittle and eventually crack when exposed to the weather. The durabilitythat QUAZITE provides means lower maintenance and life cycle cost.

Quick & Easy InstallationInstalling QUAZITE traffic signal cabinet bases and pads is easyand cost effective because they require no special equipment to setthe base. A backhoe is all that is necessary to lift the base intoplace. QUAZITE traffic single bases and pads also save time duringinstallation. Unlike poured-in- placed bases that take days to form, pour, set and remove the forms.

QUAZITE traffic signal cabinet bases and pads can be installedquickly, allowing the cabinet and equipment installation to beginimmediately after setting the base. Please see back of catalog forinstallation instructions.

Installation for Box Pads

1. The following installation procedure is the same for all sizes of foundationbases.

2. Determine cable/conduit entry position.

3. Excavate hole for the bases. Make hole 1’-2’ longer and wider andapproximately 6” deeper than the base.

4. Put eyebolts into lifting inserts on top of the base (4 bolts as shipped withthe foundation base).

5. Attach lifting chain or straps to bolts.

6. Lift and position base in to hole using a backhoe. Check plan for properorientation of box pad or foundation.

7. Place gravel in the base to a depth of approximately 6” to 8”.
