DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 01 : Arrive Delhi• Arrive Delhi by international flight• Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to the hotel • Visit ancient structures of Mehrauli Archeological Park and Qutab Minar – the highest stone minaret in Asia
Delhi the capital of India, is a fascinating city with complexities and contradictions, beauty and dynamism, where the past coexists with the present. Many dynasties ruled from here and the city is rich in the architecture of its monuments. Delhi is not only the present metropolis of India but also a necropolis. Located on the banks of the river Yamuna, Delhi has witnessed the rise and fall of many cities over the last five millennia.
The area of Mehrauli is probably the oldest continuously inhabited area of the city. As such it contains the architectural legacy of many centuries. Lal Kot, the first fortification of the city of Delhi, was established by the Tomar Rajputs in the Mehrauli area in AD 1060. The Chauhans extended this by adding the fortifications of Qila Rai Pithora, and after them the IlBari Turks continued to rule from this location. Though later capital cities were built at other sites, this area was not abandoned and many important buildings continued to be located here during successive dynasties the Khaljis, Tughlaqs, Lodis, Mughals, and the British. With over 300 listed buildings of archaeological, architectural and historical significance, the Mehrauli Archaeological Park is situated south of the Qutub World Heritage Site. It has buildings from practically each period of Delhi’s history. Some of them are well known such as the historic mosque of Jamali Kamali and the stepwell known as Rajon Ki Baoli.
Qutab Minar, a Tower of Victory which was built in the 12th century by Qutabuddin Aibak. Within the spacious courtyard of the adjoining QuwwatulIslam mosque stands the famous Iron Pillar, which dates back to the 4th century AD and bears a Sanskrit inscription. The pillar has puzzled scientists, as its iron has not rusted through all these centuries.

Hazrat Nizamuddin’s Dargah is where we find life celebrated in all its colors, as faces happy and sad show themselves in the crowd, as thanks are given to the saint for successes and his intercession is sought against failure, as births are celebrated and death mourned, newborns brought for blessings and piers carried in with a prayer for peace.
