We considered how we thought, our process of thinking

How so many negative thoughts enter our mind

How negative thoughts influence our actions

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto hearers

Session ExercisePart 1

1.Write down 3 negative self-talk statements(statements no longer than ten words each)

2.Turn your card over blank side up

3.Pass them all the way to your left to the FTBM staff

Session ExercisePart 2

1.Read the negative self-talk statements on the card

2.Respond on the blank side, as if you are in the position of God

3.Responding to the little girl on screen who had these negative self-talk statements about herself

Steps to Stopping Negative Self-Talk

1. Identify the damaging things you say about yourself

2. Challenge negative statements when they come up

3. Understand and challenge the confirmation bias

4. Practice self-affirmation

HomeworkWrite Romans 8:37 on a sticky note and post it where you can see it first thing in the morning for 3 weeks

Say Romans 8:37 out loud every morning to you about you

Take one of your favorite pictures of yourself and put that near the scripture

Write down one of the positive responses that you heard tonight or that God has placed in your heart

Say the positive response to your picture daily and throughout the day
