Responsive Design & Prototyping – Part 2 "!

A short history lesson!

Many years ago (2007)…!

Accessibility Challenges: 2007!!•! Can users see the content?!•! Can search engines?!•! Is the content working across browsers?!

Optimization Challenges: 2007!!(Ok, people can see it, but..)!•! Is the content “right-sized” for the screen?!•! Above the fold?!•! Are users hunting for CTAs?!

A few years ago, we were finally getting control over this situation.!

!•!Browsers had similar functionality!•!Universal Flash adoption (almost)!•! 1024x768 screen resolution rules!

On the Desktop, our work was accessible and optimized. !!

We controlled the screen.!

Then, something happened…!

2007!

You can browse the Web on your phone!!!!But…It’s very tiny.!

Oh! And this guy !doesn’t like Flash.!

And then, something else happened…!

2010!

The entire web at your fingertips, literally!!!!!Oh, by the way he STILL doesn’t like Flash.!

And then, things started to get weird…!

2011!

Highly portable " tablet?!! At least it likes Flash.!

What was the !Impact of the last 5 years?!

We Choose The Moon!Accessibility!

Users can no longer see our content.!

The New York Times!Optimization!

It’s not optimized for smaller screens, so it’s virtually unusable. !

25% of Web users!Their phone is the primary method of using the internet !

By 2014, internet usage on !mobile will overtake desktop.!

The Rise of HTML5?!

The Future of Flash?!

What going to happen next?!
