The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

The Apostles’ Creed

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell.

The Apostles’ Creed

The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in the Holy Spirit;the one holy church;the communion of saints;the forgiveness of sins;the resurrection of the body;and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Purpose of the book of Revelation

Revelation was written to give Christians, struggling in this world against those who

oppose the Faith, hope that the Christ who died for us will also one day return for us as a conquering King to establish

his eternal reign! Because Jesus overcomes, so can we!

The structure of the book of Revelation

Revelation 1:19 Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this.

A Guiding Principle

Don’t miss the forest for the trees! Let’s not get lost in the details and

therefore miss the message Jesus has for us!

Revelation 4:2

At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a

throne stood in heaven, with one seated

on the throne.

The Bible records

accounts of two people

who were actually

transported to heaven and

then returned to earth:

Apostle Paul (2 Cor. 12)

Apostle John (Revelation)

Revelation 4:3

And he who sat there had the appearance

of jasper and carnelian, and around the

throne was a rainbow that had the

appearance of an emerald.

1 John 1:5

This is the message we have heard from

him and proclaim to you, that God is

light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Ezekiel 1:28

Like the appearance of the bow that is in

the cloud on the day of rain, so was the

appearance of the brightness all around.

Such was the appearance of the likeness

of the glory of the Lord.

Revelation 4:5

From the throne came flashes of

lightning, and rumblings and peals of

thunder . . .

Revelation 4:6

And before the throne there was as it were

a sea of glass, like crystal.

1. The focal point of the room –

EVERYTHING in the room

points toward the throne and

the ONE who sits upon it!

2. The occupants of the room

Revelation 4:5b

And before the throne were burning seven

torches of fire, which are the seven

Revelation 4:4

Around the throne were twenty-four

-The Church?

- Both?

Is the church in heaven at

this point? Has the rapture of

the church occurred? Will

the church be spared from

going through the period of

judgment and tribulation

that God is about to unleash

upon the world beginning in

Revelation 6?

Revelation 4:10

The twenty-four elders fall down before

him who is seated on the throne and

worship him who lives forever and ever.

They cast their crowns before the

throne…

Revelation 4:11

to receive glory and honor and

The 4 Living Creatures

Revelation 4:6b

And around the throne, on each side of

the throne, are four living creatures, full

of eyes in front and behind:

The 4 Living Creatures

Revelation 4:7

The first living creature like a lion, the

second living creature like an ox, the

third living creature with the face of a

man, and the fourth living creature like

an eagle in flight.

The 4 Living Creatures

Revelation 4:8

And the four living creatures, each of

them with six wings, are full of eyes all

around and within, and day and night they

never cease to say,

The 4 Living Creatures

Revelation 4:8

“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God

Almighty, who was and is and is to

come!”

The 4 Living Creatures

“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God

Almighty, who was and is and is

to come!”

How does your view of God

measure up to the views of God

expressed by both the four living

creatures and the 24 elders?

#1

The focus on God’s role as Creator

(in the proclamation of 24 elders)

indicates that Paradise lost (in

Genesis 3) is about to be regained

and restored (in the remaining

chapters of Revelation). Praise

Him for this hope!
