Positive results for SICUR Latin America 2013
115 companies from 16 countries participated in and nearly 5,200 professionals
attended SICUR LATIN AMERICA, IFEMA's first trade fair in Latin America.
FISA and IFEMA organised the fair jointly and will extend their partnership
to 2015.
Madrid, 18 April 2013. - SICUR Latin America 2013, held in Santiago de Chile
from 3-5 April, was a success. The Spanish companies that took part rated the
inaugural event highly. Organised jointly by the leading fair operators from
Spain and Chile, IFEMA and FISA, the fair brought together 115 companies
from Chile, Spain, the US, Italy, Portugal, Argentina, Germany, Dubai (United
Arab Emirates), Malaysia, Mexico, the UK, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Israel and
Venezuela, and was attended by some5,200 professionals.
For IFEMA, SICUR Latin America met its objective, offering Spanish security
companies a highly visible platform to promote their businesses and
positioning in the Chilean market. Key was the organizational work of FISA
and its ability to bring together professionals from a sector with strong
potential, attracting international investors and driving trade opportunities.
After this first experience, IFEMA and FISA have extended their partnership to
include GENERA Latin America, the new renewable energy fair project
scheduled for 16-18 October, and the second edition of SICUR Latin America
in 2015.
For its part, FISA was extremely satisfied with the inaugural edition, which it
considers a success. It highlighted the interest and importance of
comprehensive security in Chile at present as a key for growth at the next
edition of SICUR Latin America in 2015. In this respect, FISA underlined its
interest in continuing its productive partnership with IFEMA to promote the
trade fair, in line Chile's security objectives.
Also worth noting was the broad range of professional profiles at the fair, from
occupational health and safety, illness at the workplace and disaster response,
to security and protection of valuables, policemen, armed forces and firemen.
Also attending the fair were leading experts and government authorities,
academicians, representatives from private and public entities, along with
speakers from the US and companies and organisations from the US and Japan,
12
within the framework of the International Congress on Comprehensive
Security: Survive and Thrive, from the public to the private sector, attended
by more than 1,200 people.
Also attracting a large professional public was the on-site workshop and
demonstration program. Firemen from Chile, ONEMI, IST and investigative
police from Chile, among others, all took part.
Another of the activities organised in SICUR Latin America was a business
roundtable, during which over 200 commercial meetings were held between
technology suppliers and representatives from industry, mining companies,
banks, retailers and security firms. Also attending were members of the Chilean
armed forces and firemen, as experts, and users of cutting-edge technologies
being developed globally.
Enthusiastic and quality professional contacts
Some exhibitors at the trade fair have already given their impressions,
highlighting some of the results achieved in this first edition. Antonio Montolio,
Managing Director of A5 Security, rated the trade fair highly and has already
said he would be back at the next one. He also said that “SICUR Latin America
was held at just the right time (end of the summer in Chile) and the country's
booming economy was reflected in the professional quality of the visitors, who
expressed clear needs in terms of security”.
For the Director of PROTEC FIRE DETECTION, Fernando Rodriguez, the first
edition of SICUR Latin America was a “welcome experience, providing an
opportunity to showcase our portfolio of fire detection solutions in a market the
company knew very little about”. He went on to say “the fair allowed the
company to gauge the level of knowledge of the different technologies and
assess the maturity of the market and the various brands there”. PROTECFIRE
concluded by stating that the results of SICUR Latin America reinforced the
company's commitment to the Chilean market
For the Manager of PREVINSA, Pedro Arias, the trade fair was primarily a
means of evaluating the company’s possibilities of gaining a foothold in the
market, knowing the activity in Chile of the security training business sector and
the needs for end customers. It felt the visits received were interesting and said
that, overall, the results were satisfactory.
13
In the same vein, the General Manager of Stanley Security Solutions,
Fernando Pérez López said “the first edition of SICUR Latin America was
perfect opportunity for STANLEY SECURITY SOLUTIONS to reaffirm its
presence in electronic security and fire protection in Chile”. He noted that
“Chile's growth in general required professionals who can provide one-stop
security solutions, making this and forthcoming editions of the fair a must-
attend event”.
Andrés Martí, Manager of FREEMATICA, also considered return next time
depending on the outcome of the contacts made in Chile over the coming
months. With regard to the IT sector, he pinpointed the “warm reception of the
company's solutions and services" and “the added value of private security
software" for FREEMATICA's position in in the Chilean market, due to the
country's urgent need to develop this industry.
The representative of TRADESEGUR, S.A., Nuno Pereira, underlined the
“international projection of SICUR Latin America and quality as a venue for
sharing experiences and knowledge between the private and public sector.”
Among the company's various businesses he highlighted “the success of the
license plate reading team and the contact with officials, specifically the police”.
INFORMATICA DEL ESTE was also happy with the fair. Director José Palop
remarked on the good acceptance of the company's products in the Chilean
market and acknowledged that "we have already found some premises and are
setting up our own office in Santiago to better serve the new customers and
projects won at the fair".
The General Manager of CALZADOS ROBUSTA, Luis Miguel
Hernández Martínez-Portillo, was another participant who overall was
satisfied with the results of the first edition of this fair, saying it “was
positive for the company" and noting "around 80% of the visitors were
Chilean.”
“The glazed fire protection system presented by TECHFIRE DOTH S.L. was
especially well received”. That was the opinion of the company's Head of Sales,
Nieves Menéndez Olano, who added “Chilean engineering and construction
firms showed a keen interest in this product" and that “TECFIRE DOTH is in
the midst of expanding abroad, with Chile among the main targets”.
14
LEON OF ORO said it achieved its goal with SICUR Latin America. The
company's Head of Sales, Alfredo Sánchez, gave a positive opinion of the
contacts made and of the opportunity provided by the trade fair to present its
certified safety nets and ropes in “a market where construction is important at
present”.
The Head of Sales at NEDATEC CONSULTNG – PREVENGOS, Roberto
Collados, shares the good impression of the people who visited the company's
stand in Chile to learn about PREVENGOS software, as well as the possibility
of scheduling meetings promoted by the fair organisers with potential
customers, which proved to be extremely positive. "The trade fair" he added
“also gave the company some insight into the idiosyncrasies of the occupational
health and safety industry in Chile, as well as a range of cultural, social and
economic issues that must be known to forge future trade relationships with
Chilean companies”.
Other opinions received included one from theHead of Sales at PIMERS
PLASTIC, S.L., Juan Gabriel García, who applauded the “excellent
organisation of the fair” and, regarding the flagships of the fair, “the interest
and presence of mining companies and Chilean institutions (firemen, public
policy), not to mention Chilean security companies”.
Lastly, the Managing Director of IMPLASER, Clemente Huerta, said “the fair
gave us a chance to show our product to our target public" and added "I'm sure
we'll get a healthy return on all the work we put in".
