How Does IQF film begin?

IQF film begins as LDPE/LLDPE plastic resin pellets

Film Fabrication Extruder

Extruder

The function of an extruder is to melt the polymer, mix the polymer and other additives, and deliver a homogeneous melt at uniform pressure and output to the die by the application of heat and shear.

Polymer exits the die and is in a relaxed state

Before the polymer cools, the polymer chains are stretched 2.6 times in the cross direction and 8.5 times in the machine direction. The thickness is reduced 22 times. This orientation or stress is frozen into the film.
