Rock Arts in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh, the recently formed state engraved out of Madhya Pradesh in 2009 has

a distinct geographical and enlightening distinctiveness.

The state of Chhattisgarh shares its boundaries with 6 states which are Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. It is rich in human & natural resources.

Its natural resources in minerals, energy, forests, water and land are some of the wealthiest resources in

the country.

The state proliferates in the affluence of cultural heritage, monuments, rock art sites and archaeological antiquities.

Department of Culture & Archaeology of Chhattisgarh Government is boarding on several projects which would bring the civilization and archaeological legacy of the state to the fore in

International and National pitch and also ultimately augment the tourism industry.

In Chamara region in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, the

Chhattisgarh state department of archaeology and culture plans to

seek help from NASA and ISRO for research on 10,000-year-old rock

paintings depicting aliens and UFOs.

The caves come under village Chandeli and Gotitola. The five unique rock arts in

Chhattisgarh apparently dating back to about 3,000 years was discovered from the dense forests of Suarlot hills in the

Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

The rock art show concepts in the form of geometrical drawings in red ochre are of

humans, mermaids, animals including goat, and a geometrical pattern which

resembles an aeroplane.

Chhattisgarh is the treasure house of Stone Age man’s rock paintings. These offer a fresh

perspective on the lives of ancient people lived, their cultures and social interests.

The environment and the shades of nature come alive through age old rock paintings. The rock

paintings of Chhattisgarh can be spotted in more than 31 sites across the state. These reveal the life and culture of a civilization that lived years ago.

The rock arts in Chhattisgarh have become the reason behind the tourist’s attraction of Chhattisgarh. The

exploration for stone paintings in Chhattisgarh started in 1910. The various rock painting sites are situated

at Singhanpur, Kabrapahar, Basnajhar, Ongna, Karmagarh, Khairpur, Botalda, Bhanwarkhol,

Amargufa, Sutighat.
