• Cost SAT: $52.50 ACT: $54.50(writing)

• Fee waivers (for students who receive free or reduced lunch or have special circumstances) • The student can take the SAT or ACT twice for FREE• The fee waiver also covers the cost of four college application fees

Public and Private

Public colleges • Funded by local and

state governments • Usually offer lower

tuition rates than private colleges

• Offers in state tuition at a lower cost

PiPrivate colleges • Funded by tuition, fees

Four and Two Year Colleges

• Four-year colleges Students obtain a bachelor’s

degree Universities and liberal arts

For Profit Colleges

Businesses that offer a degree programs for a specific career.

Higher cost Credits earned may not

Applying to College

• First… Research programs of interest• Think about location, size, social life, setting, costs

• How? Paper applications or online

• Requires transcript and letters of recommendation• Request transcripts in the black binder in guidance • Let your counselor know when to complete secondary

reports • Remind teachers, coaches, pastors, etc. about letters of
