Never drive without a license!! • International driving permits are only valid for up to 1 year after

the date of issue.

• Permits obtained via Internet are not valid. • 300,000yen penalty or 1 year imprisonment

(maximum) for an illegal driver.

Get a Japanese license if you’ll live in Japan more than a year and need to drive!

About Driver’s License

Cross the road with caution at any time. Never drink and drive. You cannot ride a motorcycle with an

International Driver's License. Get "Voluntary Insurance” when driving a

car or motorcycle.

Basic Rules for Your Safety

Including Gentsuki, bicycles with motors, or

any two-wheeled vehicles

Never use abandoned bicycle; or you could be charged with stealing.

Get your bike registered for crime prevention at the store when you buy it.

Update the registered information when you give your bike away or receive your friend’s bike.
