Sound and setting

• Diegetic and non-diegetic sound can help create information concerning the different settings that are evident within a film

• Contemporary or past time• The diegetic sound of wind in leaves, for example,

coupled with a soundtrack of haunting strings, could effectively generate a sense of potential danger of a place

Character theme

• Indicate the status of the character within the scene or the film as a whole

• Be used to indicate the impact of a character on other characters within the scene or the film
