using the same number of rows and columns.

Square Numbers

The product of a number times itself. Example: 4 X 4 = 16. 16 is a square

number.

Not a square number…

6 X 4 = 24 This is not a square number because we

are multiplying two different numbers.

Exponents: a small raised number that tells how many times the base is used as a factor.

Example: 53 = 5 * 5 * 5 = 125
