We celebrate this Sacrament each Spring and Fall for those who are chronically ill, advanced in age, or who are about to undergo surgery or hospitalization. We can arrange the Sacrament at other times by calling the Parish Office..
Emergencies: call the office to arrange a visit from a priest.
Nighttime emergencies (631) 538-7219
The Sacrament of Matrimony Bride or Groom: Please call the office at least six months before your desired wedding date to begin preparations for marriage. Please make contact with the parish before making other wedding day plans!
The Sacrament of Holy Orders Anyone who is feeling called to service in the church as a priest deacon or in consecrated religious life should contact the parish office to speak to one of the priests or deacons for guidance.
Interested in possibly becoming Catholic? Please contact the rectory to arrange a meeting to discuss your questions. We have regular classes to help people learn about the faith and decide if becoming Catholic is what you and God want for you right now. This whole process of inquiry and potential conversion is called RCIA—The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
We will respect your personal journey with God!
Prayer and Devotion Opportunities
Our Lady of Fatima Devotion Our Lady came to Fatima with a message from God to every man, woman and child. She promised that the whole world would be at peace, and that many souls would go to heaven if her requests were listened to and obeyed.
In response to her requests, the First Saturday of each month is devoted to Our Lady of Fatima. This devotion includes 8:00 AM mass, a novena to Our Lady of Fatima, the Rosary, and the opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
All are welcome at this devotion.
Spend Some Time in Prayer Before the
Blessed Sacrament Our church opens at 6:30 AM and remains open throughout the day for anyone who wants to make a prayerful visit. Please come and have some quiet time with God in the midst of our busy (and sometimes loud) world.
We have times set aside when Our Lord, present in the Blessed Sacrament is exposed
on the altar for your prayer.
Monday Exposition and Benediction Every Monday afternoon the Blessed Sacrament is exposed from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. This opportunity for prayer ends with Benediction beginning at about 6:45 PM and ending at 7:00 PM
You can come at any time for any length of time to join in this quiet, reflective prayer time.
Make an appointment to spend time with Jesus!
First Friday Holy Hour Every First Friday of the month we have a Holy Hour before the exposed Blessed Sacrament. This communal prayer begins at 7:30 PM and run until 8:30 PM, closing with Benediction.
St Joseph Men’s Prayer Group We meet every Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM in the Church where we pray the Rosary.
Afterward we move to the main vestibule for coffee, donuts and fellowship.
This is a great opportunity to be strengthened in your commitment as a Catholic man just by spending time with others like you!
See you Tuesday!

OUR LITURGY
The first reading from Acts recalls how after the Ascension, the disciples return to Jerusalem and gather together in continuous prayer as they await the coming of the Holy Spirit. The second reading reminds us that when we suffer, we share in the sufferings of Christ. In the Gospel, taken from the farewell discourse, Jesus prays for his disciples as the time for his glorification draws near.

VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
Someone has been going door to door around the Ronkonkoma area asking for funds for St Joseph CYO. They are saying that the parish is no longer supporting CYO so they need to get funds this way.
THIS IS A SCAM!!!!! St. Joseph CYO has never solicited funds this way and they will not do so! CYO is a part of our parish and we work hand in hand with CYO so the story being told is a lie. But more importantly, this person (or persons) are not in any way connected to St Joseph CYO, or parish or school. If they come to your home or solicit you at a store, call the police because they are stealing in the name of our parish. I am sorry that, in our world we have to deal with this type of thing. I am very sorry for anyone who, in the goodness of your heart, was taken in by this scam.
Fr. Mike
The Holy Spirit is Going to Be VERY Active at St Joseph Parish on Pentecost!
St Joseph Parish has been blessed in many ways and it is wonderful to see how we are cooperating with the work of God in our lives.
Pentecost weekend is going to be another example of the action of God’s Spirit in our lives and our cooperation:
On Saturday, June 3, we join the Grieb family and the whole church in calling the Spirit down upon Ed Grieb who will be ordained a permanent deacon for our parish. By the way, don’t wait until June 3 to pray for Ed, start today!
In the evening of June 3, our Spanish Community is hosting members of the Spanish Community from the entire diocese in a Pentecost Vigil of Prayer. This prayer runs from 7:30 PM until 1:00 AM so feel free to stop in and pray with them!
At 5:00 AM we will have a Sunrise mass at Ronkonkoma Beach. This is just like our Easter Sunrise Mass except sunrise is much earlier now!
At 9:00 AM in church we will join Deacon Ed Grieb and his family in a mass of thanksgiving for the gift of the diaconate. This will be followed by a breakfast in Carew Hall. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for hosting this breakfast!
Then at the 12;00 Noon mass we will confirm 29 adults who have heard God’s call to complete the Sacraments of Initiation.
All of these celebrations are signs that we, the Body of Christ, have taken very seriously our missionary call and that we are putting our parish mission statement into action:
By our loving service and works of mercy, we invite every person to know Jesus Christ, present in the Word and the breaking of the Bread, so that all may accept His gift of salvation
Join us on Share Mercy Sunday, June 11 by wearing leather shoes and allowing us to do a work of mercy for
you and for a family in El Salvador!
We are shining shoes to be in solidarity with street children who do this to support themselves and their families. The money we raise (free will offerings) will help us to build a simple house for a family when we travel to El Salvador in August. This trip is being done in conjunction with Unbound, the Catholic sponsorship organization.
If anyone wants to join in the work of shoe shining, we will gladly make room for you!

ST JOSEPH SCHOOL - OUT OF THIS WORLD!
On Monday, May 22 the students at St Joseph School spoke directly to Astronaut Jack Fisher on the International Space Station! What an amazing experience! It started with a spark of an idea by Mrs. Jennifer Medordi, our technology teacher. We went “low tech” learning about Ham Radio operation. Our teachers fanned this spark into a flame by bringing our students back to Christmas Eve 1968 when the astronauts on Apollo 8 showed us the earth from their view as they circled the moon - the astronauts read the story of creation as this was shown. Our teachers then invited the students to study our space program from Apollo to the Space Shuttles - giving our students plenty of opportunities to explore the wonder of creation! Our students chose to be on fire with love for the history of the space program, the science and math involved in getting people into space and home safely, and even the poetry, art and music that has been inspired by space travel. It all led to our interview with Jack Fisher. They asked great questions about faith, international relationships, science, art, beauty and awe! You can join this “religious experience” on our Facebook page!

We are actively working with the Diocese on plans for balancing our budget and addressing our other accumulated debt to the Diocese. Because of this, we are now only showing our actual loan balance we have with the Diocese. If you have questions on this or other financial matters, please feel free to call our business manager, Ed Grieb. We will have our Mission Assistance debt note repaid by the maturity date of June 30! At that time, we will change the monthly special collection from "Debt Repayment" to a "Repair & Maintenance" collection so we can begin some needed improvements to our buildings and grounds. Thank you for your generous support.
Thank you and God Bless You Always,
Fr. Mike

—REMEMBER THOSE WHO HAVE DIED— Angela D’Allura, Michael DeLucia, Rosalina Buffoleno, Angelo DeMarco
our deceased soldiers and all of our deceased relatives and friends. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace..
May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen
“MOVED BY MERCY”
Did the Lord not teach us that we are sisters and brothers?
Then why do we act as a stranger to others?
It was His intention for us to be a family united.
Neither strangers nor sworn enemies divided.
Why are we advertising the hatred and sin?
Where has all the love and forgiveness been?
Instead show pity to the hungry and the poor,
And compassion to those whose hearts were left sore.
Show humanity to those whose deaths will be decided on trial,
And inform them that their lives are indeed worthwhile.
Make it a duty to protect the unborn and smaller ones,
For they are all equally God’s daughters and sons.
Like the merciful father of the prodigal son,
Let us welcome the sinner and love them, not shun.
May we forever emulate our beloved Father up above,
Who is rich in mercy and rich in love.
LAUREN AVILLA is the author of this poem. Lauren is an eighth-grade student in St. Joseph’s School, and was a final-ist in the RESPECT LIFE CONTEST 2017. The theme of this contest was “MOVED BY MERCY.”
Congratulations, Lauren !

LECTORS WANTED!
To parishioners of Confirmation age or older:
Are you reasonably comfortable addressing large groups? Do you speak and read clearly – with confidence, strength, pas-
sion, and certain knowledge of what you speak or say? Do you feel a calling – yes, a vocation – to become God's instru-
ment to proclaim His Word to His people? Do you believe you can truly bring Scripture alive to the listen-
er; and are you willing to spend a half-hour or more of practice (before each assignment) to assure a smooth, effective, and vibrant proclamation?
If your answer to all of the above is "Yes," then your parish needs you!
On an evening in mid-June, a two-hour Lector Training session will be held in the rectory.
