Pulse Synchronisation – Is it necessary?

Alotisbeingsaidaboutpulsesynchronizationandwehavebeenasked,“Isitnecessaryorisitjustamarketinggimmick?”Thesimpleansweris:Yes,itisnecessaryandno,itisnotjustamarketinggimmick.

Inthepast,electricfenceswereprimarilyanagriculturaltoolusedforanimalcontrolin rural environments andhenceonly limitedhumancontactwasmadewith them.The past two decades have however seen electric fencing being adopted by thesecurity industry and this has resulted in a proliferationof electric fences in urbanenvironments.

International electric fence regulations do not permitmore than one energiser at atimeonafenceline.Thereasonforthisissafety.Shouldapersontouchtwowiresonafenceline,ortwowiresfromadjacentfences,atthesametime,andeachwireispoweredfromadifferentenergiser,ifthepulseshappentobesynchronised,thereexiststhepossibilityoftheshockexceedingthelegalsafetylimits.Ontheotherhand,if the twopulsesarenot in sync, thepersonwill receive twoshocks inveryquicksuccessionwhichagainwillnotcomplywiththepulseintervalsasstipulatedinthesafetyregulations.Thesesituationscould,inthefirstinstance,causecardiacarrestor,inthesecondinstance,whichisthemorelikelyofthetwoscenarios,heartfibrillation.

Whatcanonedotoavoidthis?Westronglyrecommendthatyouinstallsomeformofsurgeprotectiononyourincomingpowerline.BesidesofferingthecomprehensiveClearlinerange,wealsohavearangeofsimpleSurge Protection plugs.Surgeprotectionplugswork in twoways.Thecheaperversions simplyblowwhen there is amassive surgewhilethemoreexpensiveplughasarelaythatswitchesitoffwhenthevoltageexceedsacertainlevel.Theplugthenswitchesbackonagainwhenthevoltagereturnstonormal.
