The Year In Review - NORML’s Top 10 Events That Shaped Marijuana Policy
#1 Adult Use Marijuana Laws Win Big on Election DayVoters in eight states on Election Day decided in favor of legalizing marijuana. Voters in four states: California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada backed statewide initiatives regulating the adult use, possession, and sale of cannabis. Voters in four additional states: Arkansas, Florida, Montana, and North Dakota endorsed initiatives either legalizing or expanding the use of marijuana for therapeutic purposes. Twenty-nine states now recognize the medical use of cannabis by statute, while eight states permit its adult use and retail sale.
#2 Record Percentage of Americans Say Marijuana Use Should Be LegalA greater percentage of American adults than ever before say that the use of cannabis should be legal. An October Gallup poll reported that 60 percent of respondents back legalization, the highest percentage ever reported by the poll. Sixty-three percent of respondents age 18 or older endorsed legalization in this year’s American Values Survey, a 30 percent increase in public support since 2014.
#3 Marijuana-Related Tax Revenue Exceeds ProjectionsTax revenue collection from retail marijuana sales is greatly exceeding initial projections. In Colorado, regulators took in $129 million over the 12-month period ending May 31, 2016 - well exceeding initial estimates of $70 million per year. In Washington, tax revenue totaled $220 million for the 12-month period ending June 30, 2016. Regulators had initially projected that retail sales would bring in only $162 million in new annual tax revenue. In Oregon, marijuana-related tax revenues are yielding about $4 million per month - about twice what regulators initially predicted.
#4 Medical Cannabis Access Associated With Less Prescription Drug UsePatients who have legal access to medical cannabis mitigate their use of prescription drugs, particularly opiates. Data published by University of Georgia researchers in July reported that patients in medical marijuana states spent $165 million less on conventional prescription drugs, particularly those used to combat anxiety, depression, and pain. Separate data published in September in the American Journal of Public Health reported lower rates of opioid prevalence in medical marijuana states, while an April study commissioned by Castlight Health also reported lower rates of opiate abuse.
#5 Teens’ Marijuana Use, Access Falls In Era of LegalizationFewer teens report being able to obtain marijuana, according to federal data released in 2016. Data reported by the US CDC in September found the percentage of teens that perceived cannabis to be “fairly easy or very easy to obtain” fell by 13 percent between the years 2002 and 2014, while separate data compiled by the University of Michigan determined that younger teens are finding it more difficult than ever before to procure the substance. The CDC report concluded, “[S]ince 2002, the prevalence of marijuana use and initiation among U.S. youth has declined” - a finding that is consistent with prior studies.
#6 Anti-Marijuana Zealot Tapped For US Attorney GeneralPresident-Elect Donald Trump has selected Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions to serve as US Attorney General. Senator Sessions has been one of the most outspoken opponents of marijuana law reform in Congress. He received a failing grade on NORML’s 2016 Congressional Scorecard for stating, “Good people don’t smoke marijuana.” His confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee are scheduled for January 10-11, 2017.
#7 Medical Cannabis Laws Associated With Fewer Traffic AccidentsThe passage of medical marijuana legalization is associated with reduced traffic fatalities among younger drivers, according to data published in December in the American Journal of Public Health. Investigators from Columbia University reported: “On average, MMLs (medical
marijuana laws) states had lower traffic fatality rates than non-MML states. .... MMLs are associated with reductions in traffic fatalities, particularly pronounced among those aged 25 to 44 years. ... It is possible that this is related to lower alcohol-impaired driving behavior in MML-states.”
#8 DEA Reaffirms ‘Flat Earth’ Position With Regard to Scheduling MarijuanaThe United States Drug Enforcement Administration in August rejected a pair of administrative rescheduling petitions challenging the federal classification of cannabis as a Schedule I controlled substance with no accepted medical utility. The decision continues to classify marijuana in the same category as heroin. In a separate announcement, the DEA acknowledged for the first time that it will consider issuing cannabis cultivation licenses for private entities engaged in “commercial product development.”
#9 Twin Study: Marijuana Use Does Not Adversely Impact IQThe cumulative use of cannabis by adolescents has no direct effect on intelligence decline, according to longitudinal data published in January in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Investigators evaluated intellectual performance in two longitudinal cohorts of adolescent twins. Participants were assessed for intelligence at ages 9 to 12, before marijuana involvement, and again at ages 17 to 20. They concluded: “In the largest longitudinal examination of marijuana use and IQ change, ... we find little evidence to suggest that adolescent marijuana use has a direct effect on intellectual decline.”
#10 Cannabis Use Not Associated With Increased Health Care UtilizationMarijuana consumers do not access health care services at rates that are higher than non-users, according to data published in August in the European Journal of Internal Medicine. Researchers assessed the relationship between marijuana use and health care utilization in a nationally representative sample of 174,159,864 US adults aged 18 to 59 years old. They concluded, “Contrary to popular belief, ... marijuana use is not associated with increased healthcare utilization, and there is also no association between health care utilization and frequency of marijuana use.”

STONER NEWS
CONGRESS VOTES TO PERMIT MILITARY VETERANS ACCESS TO MEDICAL CANNABIS
Washington, DC: Members of the US House and Senate have voted to expand military veterans' access to medicinal cannabis in states that allow it.
House members voted 233 to 189 last week in favor of the Veterans Equal Access Amendment. The amendment, offered by Rep. Blumenauer (D-OR) to the Fiscal Year 2017 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations bill, prohibits the federal government from sanctioning V.A. physicians who wish to recommend cannabis therapy to their patients.
Under the provision, military veterans who reside in states with active medical marijuana programs would be able to obtain a recommendation from their V.A. physician rather than having to seek out a private doctor. Presently, V.A. physicians are forbidden from providing the paperwork necessary for veterans to access medical cannabis in states that permit its therapeutic use.
House members defeated a similar amendment last year by a vote of 213 to 210.
Members of the US Senate had already approved similar language in their version of the reauthorization bill.
The House and Senate versions of FY 2017 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations now await a concurrence vote prior to being sent to the President.

FEDERAL MARIJUANA PROTECTIONS EXTENDED THROUGH APRILWashington, DC: Members of Congress have re-authorized a federal provision prohibiting the Justice Department from interfering in state-authorized medical cannabis programs. The provision, known as the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment, was included in short-term spending legislation, House Resolution 2028, and will expire on April 28, 2017.
Initially enacted by Congress in 2014, the amendment maintains that federal funds cannot be used to prevent states from "implementing their own state laws that authorize the use, distribution, possession or cultivation of medical marijuana."
In August, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that the language bars the federal government from taking legal action against any individual involved in medical marijuana-related activity absent evidence that the defendant is in clear violation of state law.
Because the provision is included as part of a Congressional spending package and does not explicitly amend the US Controlled Substances Act, members must re-authorize the amendment annually. However, House leadership may prohibit federal lawmakers from revisiting the issue when they craft a longer-term funding bill this spring. Such a change in House rules would require members of the Senate to pass an equivalent version of the legislation, which would then need to be approved by House leaders in conference committee.
For more information, please contact Erik Altieri, NORML Executive Director, or Justin Strekal, NORML Political Director, at (202) 483-5500.

Once again, while browsing Instagram, I came across @deschutes.growery out of Bend, Oregon. Their photos
present their winsome plants like a portrait of a celebrity. Each plant has so much character; every picture branded with their DG logo on the side. The caption of this particular post reads: “Drugs. Very few have such a tangled history as a medicine. Prejudice, superstition, emotionalism, have managed to lead cannabis to the ups and downs of concerning both it’s therapeutic properties and its toxicological and dependence - including effects. We’re at a special time in history where these medicinal and recreational lines are blurring. #universaltruth”
Each picture is as gorgeous as the caption. I reached out to them recently in hopes to visit their facility. The reason not only being the presentation of their flower online, but the fact that Deschutes Growery is the first indoor solar powered growery & Central Oregon’s 1st Clean Green Certified Produce. Let that resonate with you for a moment…
As a flower connoisseur, I shopped around Portland to find where I could get my mitts on some of their product. Oregon’s Finest Dispensary, in the Pearl
District, down the street from my house providentially happened to have DG’s Hell’s OG & Cookie Wreck.
I rolled myself a joint and continued to have myself a creative evening. The quality came across immediately. There’s a taste that is drastically different when a flower is grown this clean.
The keys to success come from their innovative consciousness. They are not only seeking out how to make the best flower possible, but they’re also going to great lengths to offset any environmental impact they may produce by micro managing all aspects of the growery. From equipment, to usage of their business partners. In a sea of dolphins, Deschutes Growery is the Narwhal.
If DG was a boxer, they’d have that fat, shiny, heavy weight champ belt in Oregon currently. That being said, they are Oregon’s 1st Indoor Solar Powered Growery. All the lights inside are 100% LED powered by 180qty x 300W panels; 56 kW/h solar system. They are also Central Oregon’s 1st Clean Green Certified growery.
None of their plants are started from clone. They are extraordinarily selective with the seeds they procure; every single
characteristic matters when it comes down to choosing their selected “Elite Phenotype.” Amazingly, they also make all of their soil from scratch to ensure they keep the entire growery a genuinely unique and sustainable environment for their precious girls.
After reading this to my mother in law, she said to me, “Why isn’t everyone using solar power to grow indoor?” It’s such a great question. Of course, I know, you’re saying, “Oh, the cost is ridiculous.” The price of solar has recently gone down, and the return on investment comes a lot faster than you would expect. Deschutes Growery is setting the bar for what it means to be sustainable with an indoor grow.

W ith its’ sweet, full-bodied flavor of smoke, this bud is a favorite in my book. Beautiful terpenes
surround the light green body of this bud with orange hairs poking through. This strain has a prominent lemonine element. When smoked the high is euphoric and calm, although its a hybrid, it’s Sativa dominant side makes this an easy flower to smoke and still be able to remain active throughout your day. Smoking Chernobyl at the brink of anxiety will stop it in its tracks, and relieve any pain you may be experiencing. A descendant from the wonderful Trainwreck, Jack the Ripper and Trinity. Right from the start,
its an easy grow, having little difficulty staying healthy for those with the green thumb. When harvest is over, this flowers terps develop its signature lime sherbet smell; which is true to taste. Burning a bowl of Chernobyl will be good all the way through, with the taste of citrus that creates a lasting bond between you and this flower. If you are new to this strain, know that Chernobyl is a great way to manage any pain you may have; whether you have back pain, stomach pains, or even a headache. Rolling up a doobie of this will ensure that you have a relaxing time when you get home. Chernobyl has a long past, with an overall large fanbase, as it is
seen as a classic of nugs. For you seasoned smokers, weed always tastes great when put it through a grinder and pack it in a bowl, right? Well when you start breaking into a bit of Chernobyl, the sweet smell of lime comes through, preparing you for a great smoke session. There are mixed opinions on whether or not you should make this a morning toke, or consume before bedtime, I say they both do the trick. As this is a hybrid, you can smoke a bowl in the morning and be jazzed to run those errands you were dreading before, or you can wind down with a bowl in bed before you start your favorite show on Netflix.

Frequent Vibrationz, is a one of a kind establishment, in its unique experience that it offers customers.
When I first walked in I was stuck by the friendly and laid back atmosphere of the place. There’s a comfortable lounge area where you can browse through Cannabis magazines and shoot the breeze with the employees and other customers. The layout of the place is very welcoming. Frequent Vibrationz is a dispensary with no lobby, there’s no waiting and no entering your ID into a database. We loved the convenience of that. This shop is also Eugene's first 100% recreational cannabis retail shop and focuses on community outreach, like their Holiday Food Drive!
All flower in this dispensary comes conveniently prepackaged in glass containers to stay fresh. The quality of meds when packaged this way is superior and you will notice the difference! They have over 15 different brands and many strains to offer. The owners can vouch for their flower as they have personally been to all farms to assure that they’re offering a good product to their customers.
Co-owners Jack and Branden have opened a dispensary that on all levels
succeeds in bringing their personalized and relationship-driven vision to you. You won’t find budtenders here, they have “Vibe Guides” that will help you find just the right flower, concentrate, edible or topical that fits your needs. Voters in four additional states: Arkansas, Florida, Montana, and North Dakota endorsed initiatives either legalizing or expanding the use of marijuana for therapeutic purposes for conditions that comprise PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), Parkinson’s disease, cancer, epilepsy, and glaucoma. Twenty-nine states now recognize the medical use of cannabis by statute, while eight states permit its adult use and retail sale. Even top political leaders continue to express resounding support for state-by-state cannabis legalization. During a political rally in 2016, President-elect Trump clearly defined his position about the legalization of cannabis in America, “In terms of marijuana and legalization, I think that should be a state issue, state-by-state,” adding, “I think medical should happen—right? Don’t we agree? I think so.”1
REVOLUTIONARY OPPORTUNITIES ABOUNDA greater percentage of American adults say that the use of

MARIJUANA ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND NEW CAREER PURSUIT
Whether your sights are set upon entering the cannabis industry as an entrepreneurial start-up or as an individual, who is attracted by a unique opportunity to participate within one of the many new marijuana product- or service-lines which are rapidly evolving across our country, now is the time to decide which angle may be the fit for you.
The briskly emerging cannabis market brings with it a myriad of opportunities to profitably and passionately pursue within in a growth industry that is in its infancy stage. In fact, as of late, tens of thousands of jobs have been created along with millions of dollars in profits being generated by small businesses.2
According to a report put out by Marijuana Business Daily, cannabis-related companies now employ an estimated 100,000 to 150,000 full and part-time workers.3 If these estimates are exact, legal cannabis businesses now employ almost as many workers in the U.S. as there are web developers (127,000), flight attendants (108,000 as of May 2015), and librarians (131,000). For your consideration, here are 35 jobs now being created by the legal marijuana industry, thus providing new opportunities:4

1-800-426-5708 | info@americanretailsupply.com“The industry is going through an extraordinary period
of advancement in sophistication. Cannabis has been widely consumed in the U.S. for decades, but the industry has not benefited from many of the technological and business-process advancements that have happened in virtually every other industry,” said John Kagia, executive vice president of industry analytics for New Frontier, which concentrates its efforts in data and analytics for the cannabis industry.
Accountants, geneticists, lawyers, software engineers, accountants, and a small army of people with other forms of advanced degrees (and transferable skills) now professionally working in the cannabis industry or for companies serving cannabis-related firms, sometimes exclusively.5
“We are now seeing a higher caliber of professionals coming into the space and bringing their skills and experience from other markets,” said Kagia.
CANNABIS INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIESWith legal marijuana sales projected to hit over $20 billion by
2020 from $7.4 billion now, and with a compound annual growth rate of nearly 30 percent, perhaps investing in cannabis stock offerings may be in order for your 2017 investment portfolio.6
Due to the passage of this past November’s marijuana ballot initiatives, new states across the U.S., according to Arcview, will likely account for $2.7 billion in additional sales in 2018, surpassing $8 billion by 2020.7
For investors, the surging prospects of legalized marijuana may be too good to pass up, yet the publicly traded cannabis companies may not be such a smart bet. Before opting to invest, it is always advised to seek the skilled insight of a licensed investment professional.
GETTING STARTED: STEP-BY-STEPShould you choose to take the plunge and pursue the cannabis

Plucking the ripe fruit from its limbs, grinding down the delicate flower, twisting the paper into an open coffin to lie the herbs crushed remains in, gingerly rocking it back and forth in the paper for shape, then swaddling and sealing the edges. Kindly add fire to the the tip, slowly turn the joint as it sizzles. The intense heat radiating, burning the resin, allowing a full bodied and dynamic profile of cannabinoids to meet your senses. Sip, or take a sizable inhale. Exhale, C+O2 —> C02, then, miraculously, the high shortly after activates.
Let me now begin with a new word for the new year, “Twax.”For those of you who know, you know. For those of you who
don’t know what “twaxing” is, open your eyeballs a little wider, and dive in.
Twax; to decadently dress your joint/flower with the form of concentrated cannabis of your choice. You can crumble shatter on a bowl or shake kief in or around your joint. Some will snake a long line of oil up and around the joint. Any way you want to modify the flower with a cannabis concentrate would be considered twaxing.
This takes smoking a joint to the next level. Not quite a dab, and not just the flower feels. The hybrid high that happens will vary of course. But over all for me, twaxing done right, results in pure organic ecstasy.
Now, let me introduce you all to some truly inspiring individuals in our local cannabis space who are making waves in this ever expanding community.
Meet Courtney & Tony. (AKA @SheSmokesJoints & @TonyGreenHand)
Two 27 year old cannabis entrepreneurs who have seriously revolutionized the way we smoke joints.
The idea to package pre-rolled, pre-twaxed joints was in their pocket a long time ago. Making it a reality felt like an unrealistic stretch at first, but they decided to take the leap, and thus began
their journey to twaxedom. In search of the perfect recipe of a premium oil concentrate to smother the product in, they befriended the CO2 Company, who had means to provide not only concentrate for twaxing, but also offered a killer distribution platform. They shook hands on a deal to create the collaboration that is now known as She Smokes Joints & CO2 Company Premium Twax Joints.
In a market flooded with pre-rolls, finding a pre-twaxed joint is like finding the golden ticket inside of a Wonka Bar. The first time I saw the purple and black packaging with the words “Twax” on the side, I did a double take, then took it home and shared it with a group of friends. Everybody got high, every hit was delicious, and it burnt evenly and smoothly all the way through. Pure satisfaction. On the box it truthfully reads #SkillfullyRolled, and that my friends is a victory in itself.
Amongst their many talents, Courtney is an incredible photographer. She began capturing and sharing her brilliant photos of joints, twaxed joints, buds, smoke, and all other cannabis related things via multiple social media platforms (Instagram, Tumblr, Massroots, etc). The style and grace that is her brand captivated hundreds of thousands of smokers, building her present army of just around 300,000 followers on Instagram. The work she has put into all of her various social media accounts has caught fire over the past few years. Her unique feeds, and tasteful choice in the cannabis she shares, garnered worldwide attention, causing industry leaders to reach out in hopes of sharing her success.
The prequel to all of this fantastical business goes back to an old
“Our strategy is to make a joint so good, it sells itself.”

friend, in a different time, and a different place. It was a dear friend of theirs (who will go by @WA5280) who originally coined the term “Twax” and branded “Twax Gang.” Early on they decided to do a documentary on him, to cover the history of why, where, and how this term came to be.
The documentary was underway, and the camera crew was set to film. The man himself mic’d up ready for action, and they asked the question. “What does Twax mean?” His response: “Nothing, I just like the way it sounds.” Thus, a legendary slang term was born. End of documentary. Months later, his partner tragically passed away in an accident, leaving him heart broken and wanting to commemorate her passing. It was she that inspired him to move forward with creating stickers that read RIP to his love with “Twax Gang” marked on the sticker. That love spread all across the states, and actually across the world. Twax became a household term for smokers everywhere.
“We wanted to help expand the brand, we wanted to use Twax and he wanted it out there, he said go for it, so here we are with Twax branded joints.”
The art itself, the rolling of a perfect joint isn't an easy thing. How many friends do you have that roll shitty joints? Probably
95%. It’s an art, a developed skill. Even if you are the best joint roller on this side of the Mississippi, can you roll a joint that literally looks like Mike Tyson holding a spoon, that you can ACTUALLY smoke? I’m sure your thinking, What the heck is this guy talking about? Go on Google and type in Tony Greenhand. He is an actual Joint Artist. “Smokable Art” is the name of his game.
Tony began sculpting at an early age, first starting with clay. “I can’t wait to tell my grandkids, back when I was your age I rolled joints for a living! They’ll be like.. Sure you did Grandpa…”
His biggest commission so far was $7K to roll several joints that looked like different types of weapons. He rolled a 4.20 lb joint for a world record. He’s blazing a trail that few have yet to go down. Yet, both Courtney & Tony with all of their success, stay humble and true to their art, fans, and friends.
For Tony Greenhand, 2017 marks the year he makes his first international tour. “I just got a gig in Austria at a cannabis convention, I’m honestly not even sure if its legal there” Tony said laughing. He’s also set to tour the Caribbean with the Marley Crew rolling at their shows.
People: you can do absolutely anything you want in life. What ever your idea is, bring it to the table. If you want to roll joints for a living, do it, if you want to grow cannabis to help cancer patients, do it, it's all up to you to make these things happen. The only person stopping you from exploding in this industry is yourself. So get out there and grab 2017 by the horns.

TWAX: ART OF THE JOINT
Healing and recreating with plants has meant many things in my life, and being raised by two counterculture
California transplants in Southern Oregon may have something to do with that. Moreover, having a naturopathic doctor as your primary care physician for as long as you can remember makes growing and using medicinal herbs a natural part of life.
It wasn’t until college that I began to use cannabis more recreationally, but it was at that time that I also began to understand the connection between an individual’s cultural construct and their preferred form of healing or relaxing. This was due to my study of anthropology and the expansion of my interest in understanding what motivates humankind in the past and present. The short answer is: lots of things. Still, I've learned that there are categories to everything in life, and differing individuals will often find themselves in the same one.
This concept became even clearer during my time working at Breeze Botanicals in Gold Hill, OR. At Breeze I had the privilege of not only working in a holistic
based cannabis dispensary, with the mission to assist in healing with the right combination of herbs and cannabis, but of experiencing the end of prohibition in the state of Oregon firsthand. While Breeze had been helping medical patients find the right consumption method and herbal combination for over a year at that point, legalization brought a completely new and diverse wave of individuals looking to learn about cannabis for the first time. From instructing the elderly on safely heating up the nail of their dab rig to the perfect temperature, to explaining the difference between “getting high” and reducing inflammation to a first timer, working in a dispensary absolutely requires knowledge, patience, and the ability to identify with a variety of customers.
This can be tough, and honestly is impossible when faced with a high volume of customers and an endless variety of product. That is why I was drawn to Baker Technologies and eventually sought my current position as their West Coast Territory Manager. Baker is helping dispensaries connect relevantly
with their customers to provide the best in-store experience possible. At Baker, we understand that "the best" experience can be different for everyone, so we give our dispensary partners the tools to offer these various features (category and strain alerts, online reservation, personalized loyalty) with the added power to help build a brand and technology platform that solves the unique issues we face in this industry. Working with dispensaries across North America has cemented my belief in a connection we all share, that can help match us with the cannabis products that benefit our health and lifestyle. Its all about providing the opportunity to connect through the right message, about the right product, at the right time.

STONER SANTA An unlikely ‘Santa’ was caught by state troopers with a trunk
full presents that any stoner would be happy to receive. After being pulled over for following too close, Daniels Yates, 31, was trafficking what police say was worth $330,000 worth of marijuana.
Christmas trees, snowflakes and beautiful bows adorned the presents; As police tore off the wrapping paper, they were surprised with 71 lbs of marijuana, a pound of hash wax oil and 360 THC pills. What a very un-Merry Christmas for some unfortunate souls, having lost one of the greatest gifts given to humanity. Poor Daniel Yates, if convicted, is facing a maximum of 16 years in prison and up to $30,000 in fines.
POOCHES & POTVeterinarians across the state and country have seen a sharp
increase in pets getting high. Although edibles are the number one culprit, bong water, leaf and vaping can also be blamed. Pet owners are advised: Marijuana is loved by everyone.
Two sisters, both Petite Shelties, found themselves racking up an astronomical vet bill for their owners when their curiosity got the best of them. The first pup stumbled upon hard candy edibles in the car, the other found cannabis flower on the dining room
table. After ingestion, each were given activated charcoal by their vet to absorb the marijuana and their owners were given nearly $3,000 in bills.
These pets are only a couple who’ve encountered this plight. Although the pot perpetrators are typically dogs who are finding cannabis infused treats, there are also reports of cats, rabbits, pigs, ferrets, and birds being exposed to all sorts of cannabis consumption.
Stoned pets often exhibit the same behavior as humans: lethargy, red, glassy eyes, and hunger. Most pets will only need to detox; make sure they are well hydrated. Few, however, will need medical assistance. Be aware of the size of your pet and the amount of cannabis consumed to inform your vet if assistance is needed. Please help keep your pets safe, and your weed.
BUD ROT RUINS CROPSBeing a true Oregonian, folks embrace the rain around the state,
failing to use umbrellas and sloshing around in shorts, beards and flip flops year-round. The Willamette Valley is known for its luscious landscapes, beautiful terrains and most embrace the rain because of this. Southern Oregon growers however are not as impressed this year; Growers were greeted with uninviting news as harvesting season was upon them.
Mold spread quickly throughout the crops in Southern Oregon this fall, consuming a large amount of plants after an onslaught of heavy rains. Many defeated growers stacked their moldy marijuana in large piles, their height towering well above the typical man. Although stoners had no intention of smoking this soiled greenery… at least it had an opportunity to go up in flames, in all its glory!

S taying fit and healthy has made the “Top 10 New Year's Resolutions for 2017” in the "Number 6" position.1
For the cannabis medicinal patient and recreational marijuana enthusiasts alike, coconut oil can now be considered as a "superfood."2 In fact, according to USDA,3 coconut oil is one of the richest sources of saturated fat on record, with almost 90% of the fatty acids in it being saturated. However, new data indicates that saturated fats are almost entirely harmless as various studies with samplings from hundreds of thousands of research participants have revealed that there no direct connection to heart disease.4
Cannabis and Coconut Oil: A New Combined Superfood
When coconut oil is infused with cannabis, sources claim the combination becomes a "superfood" product. The ketones found in coconut oil help to improve memory, while THC is considered to be beneficial at helping to prevent Alzheimer's Disease.5 Saturated fat, which comprises 90% of the fat in coconut oil, is rich in good cholesterol, and can even help lower bad cholesterol. In conjunction with heart disease, which is the prominent cause of death for both men and women with the most common brand of heart condition being that of coronary heart disease (CHD), killing nearly 400,000 Americans per annum. Even though the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved Cannabis as a treatment for cancer or any other medical condition, the cannabinoids THC and CBD have been found to kill cancer cells, according to the
National Cancer Institute.6
What makes coconut oil and cannabis such a potential health-centric pairing? Cannabinoids are fat soluble! The triglycerides in the oil help the the cannabinoids to attach, and the fat in the oil helps your body absorb the cannabinoids.
Cannabis Coconut Oil RecipeTo effectively produce our Cannabis
Coconut Oil, all you need are cooking gadgets that you likely already own:
• Slow cooker (for the oil)
• Oven (to decarboxylate the flower)
• Blender or Grinder (to break down buds)
• Cheesecloth (to hold your flower, which is much easier than straining)
Place your ground flower in the oven on a cookie sheet, heat for 10 to 20 minutes at 200° F. Next, add it to the slow cooker with the coconut oil. Finally, slow cook the ingredients on low for 4 to 8 hours. (Important: Be sure to maintain your oven heat no hotter than 220° F; for temperatures exceeding 220° F will cause the breakdown of essential cannabinoids.)
TAKEAWAYThis could quickly become one of the
most frequently used items in your home. In addition to ingesting Cannabis Coconut Oil, it can be used in a litany of other ways. For instance, we have found it to be a fabulous moisturizer for hair and skin, good for soothing burns and rashes, and the combination is antiviral, antibacterial
and a natural antifungal. Plus, in the bathroom, it can replace makeup remover and toothpaste, while in the kitchen, it can replace butter and cooking oils. Using it everyday could give your 2017 New Year and beyond the health boost you’ve been looking for.

FUTURE TIMELINE
DIY Rosin
Words by Guy Greene Photo by Olivia Jayne
equipmentSolventless cannabis rosin creation techniques are all the rage
for at-home marijuana enthusiasts and for good reason: It's simple to make using equipment you have at home keeping
quality high (pun intended) and cost low. In this tutorial we'll teach you how to turn kief into premium, full-melt rosin using a flat iron(hair straightener), unbleached coffee filters and parchment paper.
1. Flat Iron. We recommend one with 2 inch plates over 1 inch models. Cheaper models may crack under the pressure of the clamp.
2. Coffee Filters/Micron Bags. You can buy specially made filter bags for rosin making, or you can use coffee filters. Seriously. I use Chemex coffee filters. They are huge flat squares that can be cut in 4 or more pieces. As a bonus, they're made without any chemicals like bleach.
3. Parchment Paper. Any will do, just make sure it's not wax paper.
4. Trigger Clamp. No burnt hands or brute force necessary! I use a 12 inch model. Cost me around $10.
5. Pollen Press/PVC. Kief is easier to work with when pressed into little pucks than in powder form. Get a piece of remnant PVC pipe and a wooden dowel as a cheap alternative.
6. Dowel. Buy these in any size at most hardware stores for a few dollars.
7. Kief. Buy some for much less than buds, or make your own. My blog has a tutorial on harvesting with dry ice.
HOW-TO CREATE ROSINFirst we press the kief into little pellets. Cut a piece of PVC pipe
about 2 inches long. Fill it with kief and hammer it down a few times with the dowel until its compacted to about a 1 inch pellet. Then lift up the pipe and use the dowel to pop the pellet out the back of the pipe onto a piece of parchment paper. Making these pellets allows us to process more material in a smaller space, and makes it less likely you'll spill loose kief on the outside of your bags, which will end up in your final product.
Fold a small piece of coffee filter over the pellet. You can roll more than one layer of filter over the pellet, but more paper will hold onto a little bit of rosin, so it's best to cut off excess.
Fold a large piece of parchment paper in half and stick the pellet pouch in the crease of the parchment paper.
Turn on the flat iron. Keep the temperature between 200° and 280°. Lower temp means less terpenes burn off, but you'll need more force. Our iron just has settings from 1-30. we use setting 17.
Slide the pellet/filter/parchment sandwich into the flat iron. Leave as much of the excess parchment paper hanging outside the flat iron as possible, so the hot rosin has somewhere to go. Getting rosin too hot or heating it for too long will change the consistency from flavorful golden amber, to sticky dark muck.
Attach the clamp to the area over the puck with very little force at first. As you start to hear it sizzle slowly increase the pressure and watch the magic happen! after about 30-45 seconds, remove the clamp and pull the rosin/paper out of the flat iron.
Set the paper aside for a few minutes until it's cooled. At this point you can dab it right this very minute! Store any extra in silicone jars or a clean piece of parchment paper.

HOW TO
Stoner Madness
Banana Kush, an Indica-dominant hybrid has the taste and smell of bananas along with a mellow buzz and relaxed overall feeling. This strain is known for bringing out the creativity of its smokers; break out the pottery wheel! Flavors are sugary sweet, tropical and reminiscent of tree fruit.
What exactly is the meaning of Stoner Madness? Stoner Madness could mean the dank flower, the funny things you do after you’re stoned, mistakes made while high, desperate
things people will do to get their weed, or recreational activities gone wrong because of weed and the ensuing hilarity!
January’s edition of Stoner Madness will feature sweet and sticky buds; the kind that bring out the Stoner Madness in everybody! These buds will make you mad with excitement and envy! We chose these eight strains to display sticky, fruity qualities that the Stoner Mag staff go mad over.
Animal Cookies, a hybrid, is the child of Girl Scout Cookies × Fire OG, this strain will leave you relaxed, happy, euphoric, uplifted, and slightly hungry. Great to smoke before a heavy meal or dealing with the relatives. Its purple tipped buds are dense and heavy with trichomes. Flavors are earthy, sweet and pungent.
Plushberry is a hybrid developed by TGA Genetics. A Black Cherry Soda × Space Queen cross, this hybrid is relaxing and good for calming stress (smoke right before the mother-in-law visits). The taste is blackberry and raspberry jam and lifesavers assorted pack with strong fruit flavors (TGA Genetics, 2017). Save some room for this delicious bud dessert!
Blackberry Kush with its purple bud is all Indica. It’s a mix of Afghani and Blackberry strains and is known for its frosty dense buds. Known for its ability to relax and make you sleepy it’s wise to smoke this before bed. Flavors are fruity, sweet, berry-like and earthy. This is a good medical strain.
Elmers Glue is a hybrid bud that was made from crossing Gorilla Glue #4 and White Widow strains. It has a lot of THC up to 26-28% and is an energy booster! While providing you with a super focused high (might be time to clean your house!) its effects are especially good at relieving depression, stimulating appetite and controlling pain. Flavor is earthy and pine. Don’t take camping or you might lose it amongst the pine trees.
Hollywood Pure Kush is a potent Indica. With its frosty buds the tricomes go all the way to the leaf tips! At only 18% THC this plant packs a powerful high! Don’t underestimate it’s power to calm and sooth your body. The flavor is classic OG with lime and hints of marshmallow. The taste of this bud has been compared to Lucky Charms. Sounds like a good wake and bake bud to me!
“Conspiracy Kush by Heroes of the Farm Genetics is a 70/30 Indica-dominant cross of Obama Kush and Space Queen.” (Leafly, 2017) One of my favorite smokes because it makes me giggle…. no seriously everythings funny after smoking this. The high is “A stoney, euphoric head high that you can feel creeping in your face within minutes.” (TGA Genetics) Great one to smoke before bed, especially if you want to sleep like a log because your partner snores. Taste is fruity dominant, and lemony.
Alien Cookies are proof that aliens must love us. A Sativa/Indica hybrid cross of Alien Dawg and Girl Scout Cookies, this strain has an average THC content of 21%, but don’t let that fool you! The high can be debilitating as couch lock sets in. Don’t worry because soon all you’ll be feeling is the positive effects of being happy, hungry, relaxed and sleepy. Flavors are sweet and vanilla, aromas are dank, pungent, skunky and sweet. (allbud.com, 2017)

W ith legalization sweeping the U.S., portable vaporizers have been evolving almost as quickly as smartphones. The market is largely split into specialized categories for flower and oil with a handful of products for both. Cloud Vapes
makes several flower vaporizers, but it's their CloudV Platinum for oil, that really has me hooked.
Most oil vaporizers work similarly; a replaceable heating chamber (atomizer) and rod (made of ceramic, quarts, or titanium) are wrapped in titanium wire, and heated to glowing red temperatures. This often results in my premium-priced oil (or homemade rosin) tasting burnt. Not to mention that the small titanium wires are extremely fragile, and replacement chambers run $20 each.
The CloudV Platinum improves on this design with the coil-less "Cera" atomizer featuring a ceramic cup with z-shaped heating element underneath. The oil never comes in direct contact with the coil, dramatically improving flavor. The patent-pending chamber shape allows for seriously easy loading and cleaning. Plus, it hits like a champ! A good dab from a pen the size of a stick of gum, who would have thought?
I've owned mine for a few months now, and even though it’s designed for on-the-go use, with its tiny size and somewhat short battery life, it has become my main smoking device. Since CloudV Enterprises warrants the CloudV Platinum battery for the lifetime of the product, I’m sure I’ll be using it for many years to come. If you’re looking to upgrade your cannabis experience on a budget, this is the way to go.

ECHO ELECTUARY: STRAWBERRY FIELDSWords by Matt's Medical Minute
Strawberry Fields forever is how I felt after trying this nug run from Echo Electuary. Uplifting, euphoric,
and carefree, with a sweet fragrance and upfront berry flavor. Not often do you come across BHO rocking an insane terpene profile of 8.2%!
Echo has been setting the standard since 2014 specializing in high quality cannabis infused honey. Based in Eugene, Echo takes advantage of all the Willamette Valley has to offer starting with the bees. Although honey may be their claim to fame, I was fortunate to pick up some of their nug run shatter from Collective
Awakenings on a shatterday afternoon. Having always been a believer in the
saying “you get what you pay for,” I have never been one to spend more than $40 on a gram to ease my pain. But, in comparison to the “poop soup,” some processors have been getting away with at $30+ per gram, this was a no brainer. Props to Collective Awakenings for offering premiere nug runs discounted down to trim run prices, especially from legendary processors like Regis Philburn. I had to go for it after hearing great things about their Lodi Dodi drop that sold out quickly the week before.
I got home and snapped off a nice
chunk of this strawberry gold, dropping a generous serving into my Halen Trough…the effects were sublime. Suffering from severe arthritis due to chemo, my joints get sore, but the Indica dominance of this strain had my body tingling instantaneously. As my body buzzed, my head tingled with an uplifting, energetic high. Just enough sativa to feel creative, with plenty of body high to ease my pain. Excited to see what the Electuary harvests for us next.

GLASS ART
Turning to the internet has become a jungle of information, most of which is trash, as everyone and their dog has begun blogging, writing and
filming their cannabis endeavors, clamoring over each other for a piece of this fresh green pie. That’s why when a truly awesome resource grows above the weeds (and isn’t just your baked friend filming with a 90’s camcorder in his closet) it’s worth noting.
Growing Exposed is the new series being described as the “MTV Cribs” for cannabis grow operations.
This high production value show gives you the viewer behind the scenes access to the growing list of cannabis gardens and experts across North America, and most importantly, it sets to educate and open the eyes of viewers.
Expect some grow-op envy watching the episodes if you are a grower yourself. As a patient or recreational smoker, seeing the inner workings of the production facility of something that you’re taking into your body is also pretty kick-ass.
As new laws in the marijuana industry are cloned from state to state faster than your dealer can roll a joint, it’s no surprise that information on how to grow your own cannabis is in higher demand than ever before.

From Seedto Weed
A NEW SERIES IS EXPLORING THE BIG BUSINESS OF CANNABIS CULTIVATION.
The first episode surrounds the facility of Clandestine Gardens and the third shows the inside of Fine Detail Greenway’s set-up; both producing commercial product available in dispensaries across Washington State.
And, while the production facility in episode 2 goes unnamed, veteran grower, activist, celebrity host, and Cannabis in Canada Society founder Jason Wilcox takes us on a tour to reveal some amazing football-sized buds.
With such big players involved and the social stigma surrounding the industry as it comes out of prohibition, I would not at all be surprised if the show makes its way into mainstream television.
Show creator Jeremy Deichen spoke into this in a recent press release saying:
“You don’t need to be a grower to be fascinated by all the money and facilities that are being created all over Canada and the United States right now to keep up with the demand of recreational and medical users. That’s what makes this show great; it’s open to anyone with a curiosity, which I think is something that’s becoming more socially acceptable and widespread as political progression leads towards a future of legal cannabis.”
And of course for any good show it always helps to have an attractive host. Growing Exposed feels very lucky to have Amanda MacKay, who comes with a long list of previous television experience.
Early in her career she got her start as an MTV Canada host, later becoming known for appearances in E3: All Access Live, GT TV, Gametrailers, and various
live launch events across the Spike TV and MTV networks. Filmed just outside where she now calls home in Los Angeles, Amanda sets up the visits to the garden tours from a Woodland Hills studio, throwing between the garden tour with ask the expert segments that bring more insight into the hydroponics world.
Not only does the film crew give you unprecedented access into a new large-scale licensed commercial grow-op each episode, but they also discuss the differences, pros, cons, strains, methods and equipment they use in their highly specific (and highly expensive) set-ups.
Author of The Grower’s Handbook, David Robinson, has a segment in each episode where he helps simplify the growing process helping beginner to expert growers. In addtion to David’s advice, there is another segment that interviews the companies that are creating products for the hydroponic industry.
Growing Exposed takes you inside the manufacturing process, making sure you are hearing information on leading-edge products direct from the horse’s mouth.
This show is going places, it’s only the first of many new radical cannabis resources set to emerge over the next few years, but don’t take our word for it, go check out the first four episodes online at GrowingExposed.com.
YOUR HOSTESS: Amanda MacKay
Justin shows off a large-scale 100% organic facility. Jason Wilcox explains what to look for prior to harvesting the bud.
“I have no doubt that social curiosity of how cannabis is grown and the people behind it is enough to make this show popular.”
In an industry as dynamic as recreational cannabis, TJ’s Gardens strives to be a unique, community-minded company that provides high quality products to its patients and
customers. Founded by three Oregonians in 2009, TJ’s owners (Travis
MacKenzie, Jim Murphy, and James Orpeza) believe cannabis is not only safe, but also healthy. They chose not to follow the traditional “stoner” path and instead created a healthier, more welcoming brand that spoke more to people who feared marijuana, as well as the daily user. Their mentality was that the daily user is educated enough to go where the best product is (which you will find plenty of at the two TJs dispensaries in Eugene and any of their partner dispensaries throughout Oregon), but new users need to feel comfortable in a culture that might be unfamiliar to them.
TJ’s Organic Provisions, a dispensary located in West Eugene, attempts to make the buying experience as pleasant and stress free as possible. They offer produce-infused water (cucumber or lemon/lime), coffee and tea in the foyer. You are then escorted into the dispensing area, where the shelves seem to float from the reclaimed barnwood used to design the infrastructure. The bamboo floors contrast nicely with the quartz countertops and the large smiles from the budtenders.
TJ’s Organic Provisions is mostly known for their award-winning flower. They are the main outlet for TJ’s Gardens, who have been producing award-winning marijuana products for as long as there were places to win awards. After your purchase, there is an easy exit to the parking lot, creating a very feng shui flow. If you purchased some of TJ’s award-winning flower, you are in for a very pleasant experience, make sure to pay attention to the smells and flavors! Lastly TJ’s Gardens offers a guarantee with all of their products that you’ll receive an extra feeling of comfort when you purchase from any of their brands.
There are lots of new things coming from TJ’s in 2017. On top
of continuing to provide the community with high quality cannabis products through TJ’s Organic Provisions, they also recently opened TJ’s on Willamette. Located at the famous Harlequin Building in downtown Eugene, this modern dispensary is across the street from the legendary McDonald Theater at 1027 Willamette. With a speakeasy theme and a great location, this is one of the coolest dispensaries that Oregonians have access to today.
The TJ’s Kids Program, also known as the Forest Initiative, is one of the organization’s proudest endeavors. This program provides free CBD oil to children who are in need of medical support for seizures and other conditions that are detrimental to their well-being. There are opportunities for you to donate to this great cause. Contact TJ’s today to learn more about how cannabis saves lives.
TJ’s is also starting a wholesale company. TJ’s Reefer Distribution aims to be the industry’s leader in providing storage and transportation for producers, processors and retailers. By using temperature-controlled vans, known as reefer vans, TJ’s Reefer Distribution will connect the industry’s top dispensaries with the producers and processors manufacturing Oregon’s best cannabis products. Keep an eye out for their cool (pun intended) reefer vans.
If you love edibles, you definitely have to check out TJ’s edible brand, Cannavore. Focusing mostly on gummies, hard candy and chocolate caramels, Cannavore’s award-winning products are a favorite among Oregon’s edible lovers. Also, keep an eye out for their cannabis-infused smoked salmon!
2017 is going to be a big year for TJ’s. With the addition of a TJ’s dispensary on Powell in Portland, you should be able to find TJ’s products almost anywhere cannabis is sold in Oregon. So, keep an eye out for the TJ’s Reefer Distribution vans carrying TJ’s Gardens’ flower and Cannavore edibles. Be sure to check out a TJ’s dispensary, as well as looking for TJ’s products in other retail outlets statewide. Go find happiness naturally with TJ’s Gardens!

TJ’S GARDENTJ’S GARDEN
All the young dudes
Cannabis is a dioecious plant, which means that the male and female flowers develop on separate plants,
although monoecious examples with both sexes on one plant are found. Sibling crosses draw genetic traits from both the mother and father plant. The male plays just as important a role as the female does, but it’s rare to see male cannabis plants in full bloom and pollen collection and use is almost a mythical craft. I will do my best in this article to shed some light on the ways pollen is collected and dispersed.
Before we talk about collecting pollen let’s talk about staggering. This is a trick I learned by trial and error that allows us to get the maximum number of seeds per plant. (This doesn’t apply to those just working with a branch or two.)
When pollinating a mother plant for seed, I will start her into 12/12 a full 7 days before I move the male into budding the room. Keeping in mind that each strain is going to be a bit different on time frame, but this 7-day rule has worked very well
for us. Once the male is flowering well, the females will be entering a window around days 21-24. Most Hybrids I work with are done in less than 9 weeks, so 3 weeks in is good place to start. You can pollinate up to day 30, but you stand a good chance of the seeds never getting mature so I find each strain perfect window. Apollo-13 is closer to 21 days and Jacks Cleaner is better at say 26 or so.
One thing I must insert, and I am not trying to be rude for you young inspiring breeders out there, concentrate on producing the best herb you can and mastering the craft of room set-up. Again, no offence but you can’t breed properly in a cab. I do it in a limited space, granted, but I have been growing successfully some 32 years and didn’t start breeding until I had around 20 years under my belt. It doesn’t hurt to experiment; that is how we learn but I think at least a few years as a grower are in order before anyone attempts breeding, even though I lay out every single step. If you think it’s easy ask a
grower how many complete garbage strains he’s grown out from so called “Established Breeders.” It takes an eye and that is gained from experience.
So now we have our male in full bloom and we have our females in the breeding room. This area should be completely separated from the main bud area, preferably in a completely separate building. If the two rooms share a common HVAC duct system you will get pollution into your main area. Pollen is serious stuff, it flies everywhere and you cannot see it. It will stick to your clothes, pets, etc. You must change cloths and bath after entering your breeding area.
Over the years, I have budded out quite a few males and each one acts a bit differently. Some bud extremely fast, while others tend to release pollen over a longer period of time. The best males to work with, are ones that are maturing and releasing pollen in a short time span.
I prefer to simply allow my males to hang out with my mothers for a few days

GROWING 101
with a small fan positioned on the male with females in the air stream. As the stamen open the pollen naturally flies into the air providing max coverage. We also like to pluck off ripe pods and gently roll them between our fingers over each cola head. This is how we captured the amazing suspended pollen shots I set as a standard and later Jill perfected.
THE POLLEN TRAPOne trick I have used in the past is the pollen trap. This trick
takes a good eye for when the male is about to open. If you can figure that out then it’s simple: take two large Tupperware containers and form a box that will hold a cup with water. Wax paper in bottom and along sides and tops you have cut off the mature male. Place the tops to hang over the wax paper and tape the entire box shut, this allows you to have it in a non-secure place like a vegetative room. Warning: Don’t spill the water, it ruins the pollen. Don’t put more into the glass than you need to. I used a heavy bar glass that wouldn’t tip over.
One thing we should cover is male cluster formation. When selecting a male for breeding, we run him as a mature full-size plant and we want to see if he has met all our other breeding criteria that he makes big gnarly male clusters. This indicates the bud formation he might pass on. If your male produces small clusters he most likely will not pass on larger yields to the offspring. This is not set in stone but it is a very good indication. Once the plants are fully pollinated, I wash the females off with a spray bottle of water and if it’s raining, I place outdoors for a night up high on a barrel where no bugs could possibly get to her. I prefer a gentle long rain to a spray bottle as it removed any excess pollen. Once I have redundantly rinsed, I place the mothers back into my main bud but not in the main air stream of my blowers.
MORE TRICKSBack to the male we have used for the breeding party. I will
bend his branches over and cover them with a V-spaded hanging trap I make from wax paper. This is the process I will get Jill to shoot here in about 3 weeks and add to the thread. One thing to watch out for is the male flowers, they contain water and must be removed from pollen. I find the hanging traps I make can be shaken and the flowers being heavy fall to the corners and can be
removed from the pile.Collecting pollen is a bit like milking a gnat. When you
manually roll a pod and it falls, it may be a million grains but it’s barely visible to the eye, for it tends to stick to the wax paper, but the solution is to mix in some dry flour. I used a ratio of about 5-to-1 and ended up with a yellow looking mix that resembled cake batter. I allowed the flour to dry well. Microwaving wouldn’t be bad idea to remove any moisture that might remain in the flour.
The male cannabis plant is amazing in its own right and in the game of creating hybrids, a male known for his attributes can be worth a lot more than the most elite female cutting.

GROWING 101
SO-BAKED NO BAKE COOKIE RECIPE Created by Guy Greene Photo by Olivia JayneThe New Year is here and these chocolate peanut butter no-bake cookies will be sure to make your next gathering a little more magical.
These cookies are ridiculously easy to make. By using a cannabis concentrate you can greatly reduce the "plant" flavor making them a hit for those who crave a tasty edible.
KITCHEN NECESSITIESCoffee maker or double boilerMedium sauce pan or a potMeasuring cups and spoonsWooden spatulaRubber spatulaSmall metal or glass bowl bowlA stove-top or hot-plate
INGREDIENTS1 gram of cannabis extract (Rosin, BHO, ETC.)2 Cups sugar½ Cup milk1 stick (8 Tablespoons) salted butter¼ Cup unsweetened cocoa powder3 Cups rolled oats1¼ Cup peanut butter1 Tablespoon vanilla extractPinch kosher saltWax paper or parchment paper
In a large bowl, whisk melted cannabis butter and both kinds of sugar for a minute, then add pumpkin puree, vanilla, and egg until well mixed. Mix the remainder of ingredients until your cookie dough forms. Preheat your oven to 375° F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Form golf ball sized scoops onto the parchment paper and bake for 10 minutes. Let cool before serving and enjoy! Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
DECARBINGDon't be intimidated - The decarbing process may seem
daunting at first, but we're keeping it simple in this tutorial.
You won't even need to get the oven involved! Before we delve in, let's briefly explain what "decarbing" means. In a nutshell: to decarboxylate, or 'decarb' means you're using heat to quickly convert tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) into tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
If you're using a small quantity of liquid concentrate such as rosin, butane hash oil, etc., you can activate that amazing THC for use in your edibles by using your coffee maker... Seriously. Most drip coffee machines get up to about 205° F which is on the low side for most decarbing techniques. So, it will take a pinch longer to convert all of the THC.
Simply remove the coffee pot, and instead place a small metal (or glass) bowl on heat. Add your concentrate - For this particular recipe, we used 1 gram of cannabis rosin made from dry-ice harvested kief (Keep your eyes peeled for that tutorial in the weeks ahead).
You will notice rather quickly that CO2 bubbles start to form. In about 30 minutes, the bubbling will gradually taper off and eventually stop. Success! You've decarbed your concentrate. Turn off your coffee maker, but leave the bowl over heat.
We'll combine our decarbed rosin with a fat, in this case butter, so that we can use in our edible of choice. Add one stick of butter to the bowl, gently mixing until completely melted. Remove bowl from heat and set aside. Now for the cookies!
COOKING DIRECTIONSCombine sugar, milk, cannabis-butter and cocoa in a medium
saucepan over medium heat and bring to a slow boil, stirring occasionally. Let boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Transfer you mixture to a large bowl. Add smooth peanut butter stirring until well mixed. Then add vanilla extract, oats and salt. Stir until completely mixed. Spoon mix onto wax/parchment paper and let harden for 30 minutes.
DOSAGEOn average, one gram of concentrate contains 600-800 mg
of THC. Depending on your needs, you will want to make different sized cookies. For this example, we've made low dosage edibles. This recipe yields about 50 golf ball size cookies that are approximately 15 mg each. If you have a kitchen scale handy, each cookie should weigh 20 grams. (For something stronger, make 25 cookies weighing 40 grams each will contain about 30 mg of THC each.)

Name: Jack the RipperNationally: TGA Height Short and StockyWeight: Heavy Spear Shaped BudsAge: 8-10 WeeksRace 70% Sativa 20% Indica
Jack the Ripper is well named because it is absolutely killer weed. It won the Oregon Harvest Medical Cup in 2007. A true 8-week Sativa Haze, the
first thing growers notice is the incredible lemon smell and heavy resin production. It has been described by UK growers as the best 8-week haze ever produced.
This plant produced triangle shaped spear buds that pretty much stopped active calyx growth early and rendered copious amounts of resin instead. Resin production was evident from day 12 with 12/12 light, but really started to fatten up the heads around day 50.
I find it performs best unstopped with a long vegetative period. The high is very creeper at first, you may think that it’s not so strong, but then whammo...it hits you hard and there's no turning back. You will be deep in thought and meditative for quite some time. The
duration and intensity of Jack the Ripper is strong and thought provoking.
The smoke is very dry and expansive, making it very hard to hold a good toke down. When it goes in, it wants out instantly. The taste is very woody, almost like cedar and pine, but a dry type of taste. The old school taste reminds me of the Haze and Thai I used to get in high school. The high is almost instantaneous and it seemed to slam me behind my eyes and almost warped my peripheral vision. The duration and intensity is strong and thought-provoking. Everyone that has grown and smoked this amazing hybrid is pretty much blown away. She has a unique trait of the leaves curling in on themselves due to the copious amounts of resin. Absolutely a MILF!

MALAYSIAA combination of lashings, fines and jail sentences greet those
willing to dabble with this plant while on vacation in Malaysia. Worst case scenario for being caught with large amounts of marijuana in this country is the death penalty. Life in prison is offered to those caught planting a single seed of cannabis coupled with a least six lashings. If caught with over 50 grams of marijuana, you can plan on spending the next five years in a Malaysian jail coupled with at least 10 whippings.
A Nigerian college student, Uchechukwu Nelson Ohaechesi, received death for trafficking 26.5kg of cannabis in 2010. The High Court judge sentenced to be hanged for trafficking the drugs at the side of an overhead bridge stairwell.
JAPANAlthough, as a foreigner, you are more likely to be deported in
this country if found with marijuana then you are to find yourself in prison, you won’t have an opportunity to return and visit this beautiful culture ever again! The public disapproves of all drug use and offers no sympathy to those caught with marijuana. Being caught in Japan with even a single joint can get you a five-year prison sentence with a bit of hard labor under the Cannabis Control Law. If this is your first offense, they tend to be more lenient and will only slam you with a six-month sentence; You’re only losing half a year, so no worries!
Extended sentences in overcrowded, underfunded, extremely squalid conditions are often the exact opposite of what one might envision when traveling overseas. Being offered a hit of hashish or a gram of flower can cost you several years of your life and you’ll find yourself wishing you had taken our advice and traveled to a more cannabis friendly location!
You may want to visit the following locations but be prepared to just say NO! Undercover police officers often disguise themselves as local dealers and that blunt that was passed to you at the local night club may be the last blunt you see for a very long time.

Common termsBlunts: Blunts are rolled with tobacco paper and only contain cannabis. The paper is distinguished by its dark brown color and thicker weight. This paper is composed from the tobacco plant and contains nicotine.
Joint: Joints are rolled with light, translucent paper made from an assortment of plants. They contain only cannabis and often use a crutch.
Spliff: A cross between a joint and a cigarette, this is rolled using a light, translucent paper and includes a filter much like a joint. This contains both cannabis and tobacco.
Crutch: Used to add stability to joints and spliffs, this is a paper filter that helps prevent burning your fingers.
Screen: Screens keep your flower from falling through the hole in your bowl piece.
Bowl: A bowl is the part of your pipe or bong that you place the weed to be smoked into. It is the place that the marijuana will be sparked.
Chamber: The area on a pipe or bong that fills with smoke as the bud is lit.
Carb: This is a hole found on bongs and pipes. You keep the hole covered while smoking the device, once smoke fills the chamber on your piece, uncover the hole and clear the chamber.
Ice notches: These are notches in the top portion of a bong’s chamber intended to hold ice cubes. These cool the air as it moves through the chamber, creating a cooler, gentler hit.
Bong percs or percolators: Air inlets in a piece that route the smoke through a sub-chamber of water. This is done to cool the smoke before inhalation.
