ALWAYS BUY WHAT YOU LIKE Add ice cubes to your white wine if you like,

and forget about the snooty bartender’s reaction!

Rule(s) #1

Crisp = acidity Less strong, more neutral in terms of flavour Temperature, cooler is better In fact, for “bargain” wines, cold is key

Refreshment Factor

Dry = little or no sugar “Off-dry” = some noticeable amount of

sugar Tannin / Tannic – tannins are the gritty,

grippy components that stick to your teeth and gums – think strong black tea with no milk

Acid – measured by how much your mouth waters, or doesn’t, when drinking a wine

Other Key Definitions

Party Format: Good to Knows

Large format bottles offer better value Large format bottles hold their chill longer Large format bottles take longer to chill

Don’t just add ice to your ice bucket, use a mixture of 50/50% ice and water – the additional surface area of cold will chill the bottle faster

Add a ¼ cup of salt to your water and give it a quick stir before adding the ice - salt water chills to a colder temperature

Any red will be more refreshing if you put it in the fridge for 15 minutes before serving it “cellar temperature”
