Exhibitor’s Rules and Regulations
A subscription of $5.00 will constitute membership in the Society and must be paid to the
Arnprior Agricultural Society at the time of registration.
All entries should be made on printed forms. Forms may be obtained online or from the
Society. These forms are to be filled out and signed by the exhibitor. Any errors on Entry
Forms will cause delay in payment of winnings.
NOTE: A deduction of 15% will be retained from all prize money offered by the Society,
except where otherwise stated and applied as ENTRY FEE for next year.
An Entry Tag will be completed by the exhibitor specifying the class, section and exhibitor’s
number and must be securely attached to the article.
Upon discovery of any deception or dishonest practice in preparation or ownership, or in any
misrepresentation concerning any article exhibited which may affect, or have been intended
to affect the decision of the Judges, the Directors shall have the power to withhold payment
of any prize awarded and may prohibit any such party or parties from exhibiting in any class
for one or more years.
1. Building is closed to public while judging of hall exhibits is in progress.
2. Everything intended for exhibition must be taken to the exhibit hall between
6:00pm and 8:30pm on WEDNESDAY AUGUST 7 and remain until 3:00pm on
Sunday. Entries can be picked up between 3:00 and 4:00pm on Sunday August 11.
Any left past this time will be held by the Homecraft Director at the responsibility
of the exhibitor and may be picked up by contacting the Director.
Failure to comply with this rule will result in forfeit of all prize monies.
3. No exhibited article shall be removed from the exhibit hall before 3:00pm on Sunday,
whether awarded a prize or not. No person (other than Judges) will be allowed to touch,
taste or handle anything on exhibit.
4. The Directors will use every precaution to ensure the safety of articles on exhibition, but
will not be responsible for the value of any article that may be damaged, lost or stolen.
5. The exhibitor, gives full release of copyright of any images taken by the society of the
exhibitor’s entry for the Agricultural Society’s future use including but not limited to
promotional display on their website or other various media outlets.
6. While Directors will do all in their power for the safety of all attending the Fair, the
Society will not be responsible for any accidents on the Grounds.
JUNIOR FAIR
GENERAL RULES
1. Each exhibitor must be a member of the Junior Fair, and membership fee is
$1.00. This will entitle the member to enter any or all classes of the Junior
Fair in which he or she is eligible.
2. Entries must display a completed entry tag. These will be available when you
bring your items on Wednesday evening.
3. Special rules governing entries, exhibits, etc., are given in detail in Exhibitor’s
Rules section.
4. Only one entry per exhibitor allowed in each section.
5. All work must be that of the exhibitor (except in the 6 & under section) and
not have been previously exhibited at Arnprior Fair.
6. All entries to be at the Exhibit Hall between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesday,
August 7, 2019.
7. Open to members 18 years and under as of The Arnprior Fair dates, noting
ages were specified.
NOTE: Individuals must exhibit in their appropriate age group and are
entitled to exhibit in any higher age group in Junior Fair. 8. All entries must remain in the building until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11.
Prize Money: will be awarded in sections 10 to 35 as follows:
1st - $3.50: 2nd - $3.00: 3rd - $2.50: 4th - $2.00: 5th - $1.50
CLASS A
All Classes must have entry tags securely attached .
BAKING CLASSES –
MIXES NOT ALLOWED – show on paper plate, in a zip-lock bag, with tag securely
attached to plate. Please use a 5” or 6” plate for sections requesting three items.
The 6 and under section (Parents may help this group!)
SECTION 1. Create a paper bag puppet of a farm animal.
2 Make an edible necklace using cereal and/or pasta, no longer than 40 cm.
3 Make 3 chocolate chip cookies and display on a paper plate, in a plastic bag.
4 Make a finger painting on 30cm x 40cm paper (maximum)
5 A page from a colouring book done in wax crayon, mounted on construction paper.
6 Make a playdough dragon
7 3 carrots from your garden. Lightly brush to remove loose dirt, cut tops back to 5
cm., display on a paper plate.
7, 8 & 9 years
8 3 blueberry muffins displayed on a small plate, in a plastic bag.
9 Dryer lint monster, made from dryer lint and your choice of embellishments
10 Draw a picture, your choice of theme, no larger than 30x40 cm.

OAAS Junior Competition

Rules: Contest is open to youth up to age 15 years (as of December 31 of current year).
Winner will be asked to make the same entry for the District competition in October.
District Competition
4. The winner from each Fair/Exhibition will be eligible to enter at the District Competition.
5. District entry must consist of 8 cookies displayed on a firm, disposable plate.
7. Plain chocolate chip cookies, with no nuts, must be no larger than 3" (6.75 cm) and no
smaller than 2" (5 cm).
HANDICRAFTS
CLASS B
General Rules
1. All articles must be new and not exhibited at The Arnprior Fair more than once before.
2. Only one entry per exhibitor in any one section.
3. Judges in these sections are authorized by the Society Directors to disqualify any
soiled, defaced or old work.
4. The criteria used by the judges: 15 General appearance, 15 Creative Design, 20 Colour
and Material, 50 Workmanship.
5. Exhibitors must pay a $5.00 membership fee at the time of registration.
Everything intended for exhibition must be taken to the exhibit hall between
6:00pm and 8:30pm on WEDNESDAY AUGUST 7 and remain until 3:00pm on
Sunday August 11. Entries can be picked up between 3:00 and 4:00pm on
Sunday August 11. Any left after this time will be held by the Homecraft
Director at the responsibility of the exhibitor and may be picked up by
contacting the Director.
THE ONTARIO ASSOCIATION OF AGRICULTURAL
SOCIETIES
Annual Hand Quilted Championship Quilt Competition
ELIGIBILITY, RULES AND REGULATIONS:
General Conditions
A. Entries must be solely made and hand quilted by the exhibitor and exhibited and judged at
a local Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) to be eligible for this
competition. B. Entry quilts must be a minimum of 324” measured on the perimeter
(smaller quilts will not be eligible to proceed to the next level of competition )
C. The winner’s name and pattern to be displayed at the Fair on sign provided by OAAS.
D. Judging will occur at local fairs and district levels. A Provincial Grand Champion Quilt
will be selected at the Annual OAAS Convention.
E. Upon making an entry into the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Quilt
Competition, the Exhibitor agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the
competition.
F. The winning Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Champion Quilt will not be
eligible to compete in any future District and/or Convention OAAS competition.
Local Fair Competition
1. Local fair is entitled to send only the Grand Champion Quilt, (min. 324” measured on the
perimeter) judged the best of show of all hand quilted quilts to the District Competition . OR
If any entry wins GRAND CHAMPION or BEST of ALL ELIGIBLE QUILTS at more than
one Fair, the other Fairs at which this quilt was entered and won, should enter their
RESERVE CHAMPION or SECOND BEST OF SHOW OF ALL CLASSES quilt in the
District Competition.
NOTE: If an Exhibitor wins GRAND CHAMPION or BEST of SHOW of ALL
ELIGIBLE quilts at other than his/her own fair, or at more than one Fair, the Exhibitor must
consider the Agricultural Society nearest his/her home address as the one from which the
quilt will be sent to the District meeting.
2. An Exhibitor who wins more than one Best of Show title with a different quilt at different
Fairs shall be entitled to enter each winning quilt to compete at the District Competition.
3. Local Homecraft Divisions are requested to judge a GRAND CHAMPION or BEST of
SHOW of all ELIGIBLE quilts. As well as RESERVE Grand Champion or SECOND Best
of Show of all ELIGLIBLE quilts.
The GRAND CHAMPION and the RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION are judged from all
first and second prize ELIGIBLE quilts.
District Competition
1. Judging quilts at the District Competitions will be the responsibility of each OAAS
District.
2. The first place winning hand quilted quilt from the District Competition is eligible to
enter the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Championship Quilt Competition
at their Annual Convention. . In cases where the winner of the District First Prize Quilt
decides not to enter the Final Championship Competition, the Second Prize quilt winner
at the District Competition will be eligible.
3. The Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies will award a ribbon and each district
will award prize money of $25 for first Place, $15 for second and $10 for third place to
exhibitors of winning hand quilted quilts at each District Competition.
4. District results must be registered on the OAAS Championship Quilt Entry Form,
returned to the OAAS c/o Vince Brennan, by December 1st.
Machine Quilted Competition
ELIGIBILITY, RULES AND REGULATIONS:
General Conditions A. Quilt must be solely made and machine quilted by the exhibitor and
exhibited and judged at a local Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) fair to
be eligible for this competition.
B. Quilt to be measured on the perimeter. Total perimeter measurement to be a minimum of
324 inches .Note the quilt can be square , rectangular etc.
C. Judging will occur at local fairs and district levels. A Provincial Grand Champion
Machine Quilted Quilt will be selected at the Annual OAAS Convention.
D. Upon making entry into the OAAS Machine Quilting Competition, the Exhibitor agrees to
participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.
E. The winning OAAS Machine Quilted Quilt will not be eligible to compete in any future
District and/or OAAS Provincial competition.
F. The winner’s name to be displayed at the Fair on sign provided by OAAS.
G. Quilt must have visible machine quilting.
Local Fair Competition
1 Each local fair is entitled to send only one Grand Champion Machine-Quilted Quilt,
judged best of show of all eligible machine quilted Quilt to the District Competition OR
If any entry wins Grand Champion or Best of Show of all eligible Machine-Quilted Quilts at
more than one Fair, the other Fairs at which this item was entered and won, should enter
their Reserve Champion or Second Best of Show of eligible Machine-Quilted Quilt in the
District Competition.
NOTE: If an Exhibitor wins Grand Champion or Best of Show of all eligible Machine-
Quilted classes at other than his/her own fair, or at more than one Fair, the Exhibitor must
consider the Agricultural Society nearest his/her home address as the one from which the
Quilt will be sent to the District competition.
2. An Exhibitor who wins more than one Best of Show title with a different machine quilted
Quilt at different Fairs shall be entitled to enter each winning Quilt to compete at the District
Competition
3. Local Homecraft Divisions are requested to judge a Grand Champion or Best of Show
of all eligible Machine Quilted Quilt as well as a Reserve Champion or Second Best of
Show of eligible Machine-Quilted Quilt.

For safety, articles are not to be removed by other than convenors.
We will take the best possible care to safeguard articles, but cannot be responsible for

Rules: All photographs to be taken by exhibitor. By signing the entry form the exhibitor
certifies that he/she is the originator of the photo and gives permission for public display.

Photographs taken with digital cameras and printed on photographic paper are acceptable. No
digital alterations.

and from the Judges.

6. Judging of articles other than food shall be based on the following criteria: workmanship

7. Articles must be the work of a Women’s Institute member and exhibited for the Branch to
which they belong
8. At 10 out of the 15 stated articles to be exhibited.
9. .Entries must be placed in the exhibit hall on WEDNESDAY AUGUST 7 between 6:00
and 8:00 and will remain until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday August 11.
10. Five feet of table space will be provided for each branch.
11. The Arnprior Agricultural Society will award $20.00 to each Women’s Institute Branch
that sets up an attractive display for their entries. 12. Judging will be Thursday morning August 10 at 9:30 a.m.

Rules:
1 .Please bring your own plates or containers for vegetables and fruit classes. All
vegetables to be shown on 9” disposable plate or other suitable container.
2. Vegetables will keep longer if not washed. Use a soft brush to gently remove excess soil
and trim all root vegetables tops to 1 inch (except for new potatoes).
3. All entries must be home-grown by entrant.

disqualified.

Rules:
1. Baking to be the work of the Exhibitor
2. All bread and rolls in new plastic bags
3. All other baking covered with plastic/plastic bags on disposable plates.
4. No commercial mixes, or pie fillings, unless otherwise specified.
5. No paper liners on muffins or cupcake classes
6. Entry tags MUST be attached to the plate.
7. Prizes are awarded at the discretion of the Judge. If an entry is not worthy of a prize, it
will not be awarded, even if there are no other entries.

Jams/jellies must be in 250ml. jars, other classes in 500 ml jars.
Rules:
Exhibitor must use new snap lids for canning jars.
Entry tag to be attached around the jar neck with elastic band or sting.
Label with name of item and date of processing (has to be within current year) must be
attached to the jar.
Recipes required, with permission to release recipe to sponsors.
Please use specified jar sizes, sealed without wax; otherwise entry will be disqualified.
Items can only be entered once.
