The Bill of Rights are the first ten amendments to the U.S Constitution. They insure people’s and states’ rights. These amendments changed the way people thought about the Constitution. Actually they got some states to ratify it! In this slideshow I am going to show you easy ways to remember them.

The first amendment gives you the rights of religion, to assemble, speech, petition, and press. Here are some easy ways to remember it. Sun rhymes with one so remember a sun. On five points of the sun remember R on one, A on another, S on the next one, P on another, and another P on the last one.

The second amendment gives you the right to bear arms. (Or carry firearms.) An easy way to remember is shoe rhymes with two. You wear a shoe and this amendment gives you the right to carry firearms.

The third amendment gives you the freedom to not quarter soldiers. To remember this tree rhymes with three and imagine quarters on that tree.

The fourth amendment gives you the freedom from unreasonable search and seizure. An easy way to remember is that door rhymes with four and think of a sign on that door that says “KEEP OUT ”!!

KEEP OUT!!

The fifth amendment gives you the right of not testifying against yourself in court. So remember that five rhymes with drive. You may get in a car accident and they don’t make you say it was your fault. You can say it was the other person if it was.

The sixth amendment gives you the right to a speedy trial. So fix rhymes with six. So picture yourself fixing a fan and when you are finished the air is moving quickly out of the fan.

The seventh amendment gives you the right to a trial by jury in civil cases. So seven rhymes with heaven so think about being in heaven and so happy because you get a trial by jury.

The eighth amendment gives you the right to no unusual punishment and excessive bail. So remember eight rhymes with gate, so you go through the gate to protect you from the unusual punishment.

The ninth amendment grants that all rights not stated in the constitution go to the people. The way I remember it is that nine rhymes with mine because I am one of the people.

The last but not least amendment is the tenth. It insures that congress, or any form of government can’t change what is already in the constitution. That means they can only add amendments.
