● Melissa Farrell, Secretary of the Yarmouth
Rotary Board of Directors – “On behalf of the
Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Steven Albright will continue as President for the next year, 2014-2015. It was an unanimous deci-sion by the Board and in accordance with the Yar-mouth Rotary By-laws. The Board feels this will provide not only continuity and stability, but the opportunity to continue the mission Steve has started. The Board thanks Steve for stepping up and being a true Rotarian: Service Above Self.”

RISING STAR – KENDALL ARCHAMBEAU FROM CAPE COD TECH
Annie Dolan-Niles, from the Cape Cod Technical High
School faculty, introduced (with understandable pleasure) this
month’s Rising Star, Kendall Archambeau, who she has
known through the Early Childhood Education Shop. Kendall
wants to “take on the world” with her “passion for teaching.”
Not only has already started this career choice with her em-
ployment at the nearby Family School, her internships, her
Youth Soccer coaching within Yarmouth Recreation, her Sen-
ior Project, and more; Kendall plans on graduating in 2018
from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts with a major in
teaching and a minor in coaching. (We would not be sur-
prised!)
PROGRAM
Kevin Lennon, Chair of the May Program Committee intro-
duced as Beth Biro, Forensic Sexual Abuse Consultant and
Forensic Interviewer from Children’s Cove as Guest Speaker
in a return visit. Founded in 1997 as a grass roots Child Advo-
cacy Center, Children’s Cove is a Barnstable county agency
whose focus has evolved from mostly prosecution to an agen-
cy that is victim centered. Their mission: to provide coordinat-
ed and comprehensive multidisciplinary services to child vic-
tims of sexual abuse/serious physical abuse and their families.
As Beth noted, there is still a need for gathering evidence, but
with only six full time staff, increasing awareness and preven-
tion have taken on increased importance. April was Assault
Awareness Month and representative pinwheels were much in
view. To learn more about their multidisciplinary team ap-
proach, plus links for ● resources, ● child sexual abuse, ● in-
ternet safety, ● reporting abuse, ● statistics, ● mailing list, ●
mandated reporting, and ● support through volunteering and
donations, see their website: < www.childrenscove.org>.
