Scat went to the creek with her kittens. Near the stream were big geese. The geese said "Honk!"

Lad was hot. He went to the stream for a drink. "Honk, honk!" went the geese.

Scat hissed at the geese. That cat was mad! Lad had to help Scat and her kittens flee from the mean geese. They had to reach a safe place.

Lad ran at the geese to tease them. The geese ran at Lad and bit his feet. He let them see his mean teeth, but the geese did not fear Lad. Lad feared the geese!

Lad did not keep the geese back. Lad swam in the stream to leave the geese but they came fast at Lad.

At last, the geese left the creek and Lad stepped up into the mud. He ran back to be with Jess and Ben.

It was clean up day for Mom, Ben and Jess. They had to scrub half the day. At last Mom said, "It is so neat. That’s my team!"

Then Jess saw Lad jump on the screen. She screeched, "It's Lad! And he has mud on his feet!"

Ben said, "Lad, get back! Please!"

But Lad was glad to see Jess and Ben, he leaped in and left wet mud prints where it had been clean.

What a mess when Lad jumped up! Jess, Ben, and Mom got wet with mud spots.

Mom sent Ben to take Lad to the stream for a bath.

But the geese were at the creek. Lad and Ben had to flee from the mean geese.

Mom and Jess ran at the geese with mops and pans.

The geese left at last, and Mom and Jess had to grin.
