THERE WAS A LONG PROCESS WHEN DECIDING ON
THE NAME FOR THIS TEA COMPANY (THE WHISTLE TEA CO.
OR WHISTLE FOR SHORT) AND SYMBOLISM WAS A LARGE
FACTOR THAT WAS TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN
GOING THROUGH DIFFERENT NAMES. I WANTED THERE TO BE
A LOT OF HISTORY IN BOTH THE TEA AND THE BRAND ITSELF,
SO HENCE - “WHISTLE” WAS CREATED. THE ‘WHISTLE’ WORD
IN THE COMPANY STANDS FOR THE TRADITIONAL WAY OF
BOILING A KETTLE, AND HEARING THAT WHISTLING NOISE
WHEN THE WATER WAS BOILED. THE TRADITIONAL THEME IS
THEN CONTINUED WITH WALLPAPER BACKGROUND ON THE
FRONT OF THE PACKAGING.
LOGO TYPOGRAPHY / STYLE
THE STYLE CHOSEN FOR THE PACKAGING WAS MOST
‘SHABBY CHIC’, AS WE WANTED TO EMPHASISE AND CARRY
THROUGH WITH OUR “HISTORIC” SYMBOLISM. SHABBY CHIC
GIVES OFF QUITE A RUSTIC AND OLD-FASHIONED FEEL AND
THAT IS WHAT WE WANT THE CONSUMERS TO RECOGNISE.
IN SAYING THAT, THERE ARE PARTS OF OUR DESIGN (EG THAT
SHAPE OF THE PACKAGING) THAT WOULD BE SEEN AS SLEEK
AND MODERN, AND THE STYLE OF COLOURS CHOSEN WOULD
BE SEEN TO BE BRIGHT AND HAPPY - TO STILL ATTRACT THE
YOUNGER MARKET.
THE TYPOGRAPHY FOR THE BRAND WAS ORIGINALLY
ALL COMPUTER DESIGNED - HOWEVER IT WAS EVENTUALLY
ALTERED INTO A HAND-DRAWN DESIGN. YOU’LL FIND THAT
“THE” AND “TEA CO.” WILL BE A COMPUTER BASED TYPE,
HOWEVER THE “WHISTLE” LOGO ITSELF IS HAND-DRAWN.
WE CHOSE TO CHANGE THE WHISTLE TO BE A HAND-DRAWN
TYPEFACE SO CONSUMERS ARE ABLE TO FEEL THAT IT IS
MORE OF A ‘FAMILY COMPANY’ AND THAT IT ISN’T A
MASSIVE PRODUCTION AND DESIGN. WE WANT THE
CONSUMER TO FEEL AT HOME WITH THIS BRAND.

FLAVOURS / COLOUR SCHEME
THE COLOURS THAT HAVE BEEN USED ON THE
PACKAGING ARE BLUE, PINK, AND GREEN AND RED (FOR
CHRISTMAS PACKAGING). THESE COLOURS ARE ALL BRIGHT
AND HAPPY COLOURS AND WE HOPE THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO
PROMOTE WHAT WE STAND FOR, AND THE POSITIVITY THIS
BRAND HAS. THE COLOURS ARE ALL LIGHT TONES AND GIVE
THE OVERALL PACKAGING A VERY NEAT AND PUT TOGETHER
FINISHED LOOK. THE LOGO ON ALL OF THE PACKAGING IS
THE SAME COLOUR AS THE BACKGROUND (E.G. BLUE) WHICH
DOESN’T CAUSE TENSION WITH THE REST OF THE
BACKGROUND. WE DID THIS SO THE LOGO WAS VERY EASY
AND CLEAR TO READ.
OBVIOUSLY, THERE ARE MORE FLAVOURS THAN JUST
THE THREE SHOWN - HOWEVER THESE THREE WERE CHO-
SEN TO BE DESIGNED SO IT WAS CLEAR TO SEE THE RANGE
OF FLAVOURS THIS COMPANY PROVIDES - FROM ORIGINAL
TEAS, GREEN TEAS, TO SPECIAL EDITION (TIME OF YEAR)
TEAS. THE FLAVOURS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
BLUE: PEPPERMINT
PINK: ENGLISH BREKKIE
RED/GREEN: CHRISTMAS CHAI
PACKAGING FLAT NETS
FLAT NETPEPPERMINT TEA

SOCIAL MEDIA
SOCIAL MEDIA IS A HUGE PART OF TODAYS SOCIETY,
AND YOU WILL FIND THAT MORE AND MORE COMPANIES ARE
USING DIFFERENT PLATFORMS FOR GROWTH. THESE
INCLUDE THE LIKES ON INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, TUMBLR...
THE LIST GOES ON. THE WHISTLE TEA CO. DECIDED TO
INCORPORATE ALL OF THESE INTO THEIR COMPANY, WITH
THE BOTTOM OF THE PACKAGING READING “LOVE WHISTLE
TEA? ADD #THEWHISTLETEACO TO YOUR PHOTOS AND SHARE
THE LOVE!” . YOU’LL FIND THAT THE MORE PEOPLE SHARE
AND HASHTAG THEIR PHOTOS, THE MORE PEOPLE WILL BUY
YOUR PRODUCT.
AN EXAMPLE OF COMPANY GROWTH THROUGH
SOCIAL MEDIA CAN BE THROUGH BLOGGERS ON INSTAGRAM.
THE IMAGE TO YOUR RIGHT IS AN EXAMPLE OF A FLAT LAY
