W.E.B. DuBois, and others.

• Believed that blacks should focus their energy on education and learning a skill so they could become employed and self-supporting
• Created Tuskegee Institute that was supposed to be a model for black self-improvement through education
• Invited to speak at the International Exposition in Atlanta
• Speech made blacks cry and whites cheer.
How His Ideas Relate to ARITS :
• Bennie was involved in school
• Goes hand in hand with Booker T. Washington’s philosophy to become educated and self-supporting.
