On the occasion, ViceChancellor (Retd), DefenceInstitute of AdvanceTechnology/ DistinguishScientist, ISRO, DrSurendra Pal was the ChiefGuest while Ananda Bantefrom Mahabodhi SocietyBangalore, Geshes LobzangSmonlam from GadanJangtse Monastery Mondgodand Director, Tibetan YouthHostel Dhondup were theGuests of Honour.

A number of Ladakhi stu-dents from various southernStates including Karnataka,Kerala, Tamilnadu,Pondicherry and AndraPradesh participated in the

celebrations. Tibetans andtheir family members inBangalore also joined the cel-ebrations.

SILCWA members present-ed a variety of culture pro-gramme to showcase the cul-ture of different regions ofLadakh. The cultural pro-gramme covered the dancesand songs of Ladakh,

Tibetan and Balti showcasingunity and integrity in theregion.

This Losar was celebratedwith a special theme of'Igniting the Young Minds ofLadakh', under which speciallectures and interactive ses-sions were conducted by emi-nent personalities regardingvarious fields including

Naropa fellowship, opportu-nities in field of science andtechnology, IT sector, emerg-ing technologies, manage-ment area, competitiveexams, entrepreneurship andstart-ups. Dr Surendra Paladvised students to remainconnected to one's cultureand religion. In the race oftouching the sky, one mustnot forget its roots andshould always try to givesomething back to the society,he added. Ananda Bante andGeshes Lobzang Smonlamalso spoke on the occasion.

A two-minute silence wasalso observed in the memoryof departed souls who werekilled in recent avalancheaccident at Khardong La.The meritorious students inacademics and social-workwere also felicitated on theoccasion.

According to ChiefElectoral Officer, J&K,Shailendra Kumar, hisoffice is in the process ofinforming all the politicalparties about the exten-sion of date for the finalpublication of the

Electoral Rolls, which is aconstitutional require-ment.

While addressing gather-ing, Vijay Choudhary said

that construction of lanesand drains were on the topof her agenda and today shefulfilled the long pendingdemand of people. She fur-ther said that the under-staffed sanitation team istrying its best to providebest sanitation to people ofthe area.

"This was a long pendingissue of people as the drainsare broken and during rainyseason, often cause floodingin entire area thus adding tothe woes of people," she toldreporters, adding that nostone would be leftunturned for the develop-ment of the ward.

STATE TIMES NEWSKARGIL: The three-dayTraining module onInvestigation of accidentcases for InvestigatingOfficers of District PoliceKargil, which started on 27January, concluded here onWednesday at DPL Kargil.

The inaugural sessionwas chaired by SP Kargil,Dr Vinod Kumar. Thecourse started with simula-tion exercise of an accidentcase followed by lecturesimparted by different

trainers covering allaspects of investigation,right from registration ofFIR to completion of inves-tigation and final disposalof the cases. The trainingmodule included a combi-nation of theory and prac-tice with classroom exercis-es and practical field exer-cises. At the conclusion,there was an assessment oftrainees and feedback wassought from them regard-ing the module.

SP Kargil, during his

valedictory speech, con-gratulated trainees for suc-cessfully completing themodule. He said that aimof such programmes iscapacity building in theorganization particularly ininvestigation process,which is critical for polic-ing. He also ensuredtrainees that many suchprogrammes shall be con-ducted by District PoliceKargil in future to enrichtheir skills for dealing withdifferent type of crimes.The trainees said that theywere hugely benefitted bythe training module.

At the end of function,Certificates were distrib-uted among trainees by theSP Kargil.

Natrang has been organ-ising four-day theatre fes-tivals, after regular inter-vals, since May, 2018 tocommemorate 35 years ofNatrang and during previ-ous nine months, thegroup has successfullypresented 36 differentplays, which is a record initself. Young actors who

performed in the playincluded Brijesh AvtarSharma, Manoj KumarLalotra, Ajay KumarLalotra, MeenakshiBhagat, Vrinda Sharma,Mannat Soni, AartiBhagat, Kananpreet Kour,Sushant Singh Charak,Priyanka Pandita andShivam Singh.
