Design concept

Design concept

• |Sorting • Since the project will be composing of three functions for one aim,

sorting or setting apart is important. First is the setting of the three functions apart: office, training and lodging. These three major spaces also follows the “sorting” concept in its each zone.

• The office is sort out from service-public-private spaces. This is to solve the way wired circulation that is observed from the existing MARINA office.

• The training is to be sort out according to its users: trainees-examinees. Since it is loaded with equipment a zone functioning for its maintenance will be added.

• And lastly, the lodging will be sort from its male and female users as well as the service spaces needed by the lodging house.

FUNCTION

DESIGN concept

• Since one of the major behaviour of people who went in the building is to “wait”, a sort of innovation is made in the waiting area wherein it is placed in a common area and is adjacent to the office and to the view of the garden which can also ease tension, making the project working for the people it serves.

FUNCTION

STRUCTURAL concept• The structural system where

horizontal beams are supported by columns will be applied all throughout the project. The post and lintel concept will be applied in the whole project.

POST AND LINTEL

UTILITY concept

• The project will also require a swimming pool for the training center which will also be used to responsibly distribute water and to recycle it again for other purposes. Through this utility concept, the project is already attaining its goal for sustainability. The used water from the swimming pool will be recycled and be distributed to the water closets as well in the sprinkler system installed along the greeneries.

lighting concept• The picture beside shows the principle followed for the capsule hotel. The shifting of orientations will allow more natural light to pass through the building.

• As for the training center, lecture rooms were placed on the upper floors to get more natural light for day use.

• Thin plans were also used to lessen the use of artificial lighting making the project more energy-efficient

FIRE PROTECTION concept

• Fire Sprinkler system will be provided in each building. In addition to that, fire resistive exterior and interior wall materials will also be provided. There will be specialized non-combustible material that will be used as covering for areas that are highly combustible.

“With the cumulative amount spent for rent, MARINA could have had its own building”

“It is recommended that the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) make representation with the

Department of Budget and Management to finance the construction of its own building where its officials and

employees totalling 237 could hold office to do away with huge expenditures for office rental,”
