The Duce Difference
2
Energy Effi ciency and Sustainability Timber is a renewable resource and we only use timber that has been sourced from managed and sustainable forests. This ensures that the material for any timber product we make, is thoughtfully selected to protect the wellbeing and future of our natural environment.
The manufacturing process for producing our timber windows and doors is gentle on the environment. It does not require the mining of our limited precious minerals or the huge energy that is needed, to produce some of the other man-made materials on the market today.
5358 Duce mini july10 pattern.indd 4 16/7/10 11:07:45 AM
Select Door Type
When choosing a door, think about what is important to you
and what you require. You may consider energy effi ciency,
sound reduction, ventilation, safety and security.
Where will this door be located in your home? For example, you
may want bi-folding doors ideal for the entertainment area, or
would a sliding stacking door be a better solution to save space
and cost? Or perhaps you want to go ‘all French’, with doors that
swing open to your beautifully landscaped gardens?
Select Window Type
There are several styles of windows and the one that is most
appropriate can depend on the factors most important to you.
Consider the amount of space available for the window and
it’s location in the home. What is the wind classifi cation of your
home? - Ask your builder or council. What level of security do
you require? All our windows are fi tted with key fasteners as
standard and we can screen any style of window or door.
How do you want your window to operate – manually sliding
up or down or mechanically wind out? For example, louvre
windows, or double hung windows may be ideal for your
bathroom or kitchen, or you may choose bi-fold windows
ideal for a kitchen servery, breakfast bar or entertainment
area.
Do you require maximum ventilation or do you want to open
your windows during inclement weather without bringing it
inside? You may be concerned about which window looks best
on the outside when opened.

Select Glass
Selecting the correct glass for your doors and windows is important. You
can improve the thermal performance, comfort and the overall energy
effi ciency of your home whilst increasing its resale value.
For most homes reducing heat gain is essential and you can achieve this
without compromising daylight, comfort or energy effi ciency by selecting
the correct glass.
Our consultants can help you to chose the best and most cost effective
glass for your particular application or your energy certifi er will nominate
the performance requirement for the whole of house by specifying the
SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coeffi cient) and UV (U Value) to meet the relevant
Australian council building requirement.
Our products are glazed to comply with Australian Standard 1288/2006
as required by the BCA (Building Code of Australia). Different glasses offer
a variety of benefi ts such as safety, reducing heat and or glare, blocking
UV radiation, transmitting visible light, and there is even a self-cleaning
glass available.
Talk to us about your particular needs and we will help you to make the
best selection.

> >Select Screens
If you require screens, we aim to fi nd
solutions to screen every window and
door. Ask about our range of systems
and options to suit your needs.
Select Finish
To protect your investment, we offer the fi rst coat of fi nish in
the factory to avoid any potential markings during transit or
construction. We use world famous brand Sikkens wood fi nish
systems and Orica Intergrain range of paints. These systems include
high performance alkyd resins combined with other chemicals to
form a durable, continuous fi lm with excellent adhesion.

Australian Made, to Australian Standards The size, orientation, glazing treatment and internal coverings of your windows all have a signifi cant impact on the energy effi ciency and comfort of your home. For a typically insulated house, the windows provide the greatest opportunity for heat gain or loss. Choosing energy effi cient windows is a simple way of improving the comfort of your home, while at the same time saving real money on your energy bill, reducing the green house gas emissions needed to provide that energy and improving the re-sale value of your home.
Our windows and doors are all certifi ed to the Australian Glazing Standard AS1288 for your safety. It is our policy to certify all windows and doors to suit water penetration resistance and structural requirement of
Australian Standard AS2047. Products that have passed strict NATA testing requirements prove our high quality construction methods and weather sealing systems effectively exclude wind and rain. We also fi t performance labels to your joinery to show that it has been designed to suit the conditions in your location.
Our product is proudly supported by the ‘Duce Timber Windows and Doors Seven-Year Guarantee’ to provide peace of mind for you, your architect and your builder.

Pivot Doors – A lasting fi rst impression
Pivot doors are fast becoming a popular modern alternative
to the hinged door. Pivot bearings replace conventional
hinges to open up new and exciting design possibilities.
With self-closing and hold open functions these top quality
pivots can handle the weight of an impressive over-sized
door with ease and safety.
Hinged Entry Doors – Creating your statement
The hinged entry door is a traditional choice that
can be enhanced with the latest treatments and
techniques in order to create designs that suit any
building from the oldest heritage treasures, to the
latest in ultra modern style. We have an extensive
selection of design ideas or why not design your
own? We can create any design.
French Doors – Elegance that transcends time
The French door has been a part of Australia’s history
for more than 200 years. They are a traditional way
to open up areas of your home and their beauty is
undeniable. With an infi nite range of design options
available, these doors can be used to add elegance
to any home.
Sliding Doors – Space effi cient alternative
The sliding door is an excellent solution for many
applications. With our heavy duty track system, large
doors can be used so that uninterrupted views are a
feature even when the doors are closed and yet they
glide open with surprising ease. Sliding doors are
ideal for areas that have restricted space and as a
perfect alternative to a bi-fold, are also ideal for your
entertainment area. The sliding door can take many
forms from the most simple standard sliding door unit
to a multi-stacking set that opens up an entire wall or
corner and can even slide within a cavity to disappear
altogether. Matching timber fl yscreens are available
as required.
Folding Doors – Endless views
Folding doors have revolutionised the face of contem-
porary design by providing a new way that you, or your
architect can link your living space seamlessly to your
outdoor environment. Now walls have become optional
and natural light and air can fl ow in as effortlessly as the
clouds fl oat across the sky. Our craftsmen build high qual-
ity folding doors to suit almost any aperture. This, together
with hardware systems from Centor Architectural, can
create the smoothest motion and fi ngertip operation that
provide a formidable barrier when closed.

Bi-folding Windows – Entertaining With Ease
Perfect for a servery or bar area. Our bi-fold windows are at home in
any window application where unobstructed views and unhindered
breezes are important. The durability of Duce timbers are matched
by the laboratory-proven staying power of Centor’s state of the art
hardware, fl exible to a range of panel sizes and confi gurations. An
optional integrated retractable fl yscreen system makes large window
openings a practical choice as well as an aesthetic one, while care
has been taken to ensure that panel adjustment is possible from
within the building.
Sliding Windows – A Classic Choice
As with sliding doors these windows are an excellent space saver
and perfect alternative to bi-fold windows. Easy to use and maintain,
the sliding window is a classic design. Fly screens are available with
fi xed or sliding options.
Casement Windows – Catching the Softest Breeze
A casement window offers ample ventilation regardless of wind
direction. Windows can be opened to 105 degrees and the angle of
the sashes can be adjusted to create a generous opening. Windows
are hinged, opening out from the side opposite to the side that is
hinged, catching even the softest summer breeze. The outer side
of the windows can easily be cleaned from the inside. Colonial and
Federation bars can be added if desired.
Awning Windows – Enjoying the Peace & Quiet
Awning windows are becoming the popular window of choice. They
push out effortlessly from the bottom and when open, they give
ventilation with a measure of rain protection. Awning windows
are hinged along the top and open from the bottom and awning
sashes give the best results in sound reduction. As with casement
windows, awnings can be utilised in most positions, but may be
unsuitable for decks or walkways due to their projecting nature. Fly
screens can be fi tted internally.
Double Hung Windows – Ideal for Walkways
Double hung windows have a range of features. They are easy to
open and close, smooth to operate and ensure maximum protection.
Ask about our range of systems: spiral balance, jamb liner (tilted or
weighted). The double hung window allows for easy cleaning. The
two independently moving sashes bypass to permit cleaning from
the inside.
Picture Windows – Admiring the View
Picture windows provide maximum light and can make rooms
appear larger, and more spacious. The sleek design is aesthetically
pleasing allowing for improved peripheral vision from inside to
outside the window. Picture windows can be combined with any
other window style to create truly unique combinations that can
improve the entire aesthetic look and feel of your home.

Bay Windows – Creating More Space
Bay windows create additional space and dimension to a room and
can give your home a distinctive look. They are used to increase the
fl ow of natural light into a building as well as provide views of the
outside that would be unavailable with an ordinary window.
Curved & Arched Windows – A Classic Touch
Arched windows come in various forms and add a classic touch to
any home especially above an entrance door. Arched windows can
also be used to recreate an architectural period. Curved windows are
an excellent architectural feature, a fi ne example of this are curved
bi-folding doors which are used in many architect designed homes
adding a sleek contemporary look.
Sashless Windows - Simple & Sleek
Sashless windows are a popular choice with architects and interior
designers. They consist of panes of glass, which overlap when opening
or closing, to deliver the look of fi xed glass with the practicality of a
window that is easy to operate. Screens can be fi tted externally.
Louvre Windows – Class of Their Own
Every room in the home needs a breath of fresh air and louvre
windows are a great way to achieve this, when open to horizontal
the blades offer very little resistance to a cooling summer breeze.
With a choice of glass, timber and aluminium blades a louvre
window is a versatile addition to the home, blades are also available
in high performance glass which improves the energy rating of the
louvre window, homes are cooler in summer and warmer in winter
with the added advantage of saving energy costs.
Traditional Styles – Colonial & Federation
If you want the colonial or federation look for your home we
can supply windows & doors specially designed to suit your
requirements. We are not limited in designs, and can match any
existing style.

Hardware, Screens & ShuttersHardware is manufactured from high-grade
stainless steel, solid brass, anodised aluminium
and engineering grade plastics. All components
such as roller locks, tracking systems, handles
and levers we use are only from the highest
quality brands. Just ask about our range of
options that will complement your design and
budget.
All our windows and doors can be screened. We
have some unique door screening systems to suit
any design. Screening bi-fold doors and windows
for large openings can be solved stylishly and
unobtrusively by Centor’s unique window screen
system. The perfect complement to our bi-fold
windows, the window screen is ready for action.
With the windows closed, the window screen
can be simply rolled back out of view.
We recommend ‘Verosol Shutters’, which can be
installed into all our products.
20
Your timber windows and doors require
regular care and maintenance to ensure
that they do last a lifetime. Under the
‘Duce Seven-Year Guarantee’ it is
required that you maintain your windows
and doors in the best possible way.
A six-monthly check and thorough clean
is recommended in clean air environments,
and a three-monthly check and thorough
clean is recommended in coastal or
damp environments. Please refer to our PDS
for full care and maintenance information.
Apply Extra Coats of Finish Following installation, you need to apply
extra coats of fi nish. This will offer longer
time frames between touch-ups. Check the
fi nish every six months and re-coat and
touch-up as necessary.
Vacuum Your TracksWe recommend all dirt, sand, dust and any
other debris be removed as regularly as
possible. Particularly for sliding windows
and doors. This will protect your rollers and
limit potential functionality issues. Why not
include this in your regular weekly clean?
Lubricate Moving PartsSuch as rollers, locks, hinges with a silicone
based-spray.
Cleaning Your GlassClean and inspect your windows at least
once every 6 months or more often if
desired. If your windows are subjected to
spillage of cement, render or other waste,
you must wash them clean immediately or
you may risk a permanent stain or damage
to your window frames.
Avoid Harsh UtensilsDo not use metal scrapers to remove
paint etc from glass surfaces as many of
the new high performance glass options
have surfaces that are easily scratched or
damaged if not properly cared for.
Avoid High Pressure CleanersDo not hose down your windows with a high
pressure cleaner, they are not designed for
this and water may leak inside, or worse –
break the glass.
