Traditional food in

Hrušov

● Bryndzové halušky

● Pufance

● Lepníky

● Pampúšiky

● Chlieb vo vajíčku

Pufance''Pufance'' are made for at least 5

generations. They're so delicious, easy

to make and you can make them in a

short time.

They look like pancakes, but they are

made just by flour and potatoes and

they are salted.

They are usually baked on older types of

stoves.

Preparation and ingredients

Grandmothers, Anna Bendíková and Cecília Valachová, have helped us with the preparation.

We needed:

● Potatoes

● Flour

● Salt

● Butter

● Garlic

At first we boil the

whole potatoes in

salted water for

their softness.

Then we peel

them.

We mash the potatoes

on a simple grinder.

Then we add flour into

the potatoes.

We don't have to put

any salt into it because

we had boiled the

potatoes in salted water.

We make the dough

with hands and form it

into the shape of a

loaf.

The dough shouldn't

be too hard. If it's too

soft just put some

more flour into the

dough.

We spread the

created dough

softly into the

shape of a roll

with our hands.

The average size

of the roll should

be about 5 cm.

We cut the roll of

dough into small

pieces with the

thickness about 2

cm.

We need a longer

knife, it can be

edgeless.

We roll the individual

pieces to thin slices into

the shape of a circle.

We must be careful that

the dough wouldn't stick

to the board. If it is

sticky, just put some

more flour on the board.

Put the spreaded dough

- the ''pufanec'' –

carefully onto the

cooker (or to a dry non-

greasy pan).

Bake the ''pufanec'' on

both sides and keep

turning it carefully with

a knife.

Melt the butter in a

saucepan and add

the crushed garlic.

Grease the

''pufanec'' with

that mixture.

Fold the ''pufanec''

to the shape of a

triangle or a roll.

The food is finished

and it's ready to

serve.

The ''pufanec'' can

be sweet, too.

The process is the

same, they're just

stuffed with plum

jam, curd or poppy.

Enjoy your meal !From the left: Erik, Jano, Adrika,

The most important thing was that we had to work together, as a team,

and had fun.And we were successful ! :-)
