Trust me – this is important

Christof Braun Manage Agile! Network

Successful enterprises must transition to agile, networked,

living and learning organizations, ready to adapt and change

quickly.

Leaders in such an organization can no longer trust in power but must rely on the power of

trust.

Self-organized teams are a corner stone of modern

organizations.

Only in a trustful relationship will delegation of decision making

work.

What is trust?

Two definitions are relevant to this discussion.

Trust is the believe by the trustor that the trustee is capable of

delivering on a promise.

Trust is the believe by the trustor that the trustee is honest and fair and will not exploit the trustor's

vulnerability.

Trust is declining

“Most people can be trusted”

But trust still works!

A Panera Bread restaurant, where you decide how much you pay.

I trust orders on handshake – no contract required – never had

problems.

4. The leader trusts herself.

Giving trust is taking a risk.

Trying to reduce the risk means reducing the trust.

How can trust grow?

Transparency – Dare to bare.

How can trust grow?

Strong personal connection - know each other.

How can trust grow?

Practice what you preach and

Lead by example.

What if it fails?

Consider it an investment – learn from it.

Don't punish everyone with increased control.

But unfair behavior still needs consequences.

A trust culture can grow.

If you start with trust and stick with it, others will follow.

So – take the plunge, do not be afraid to risk it.

Trust yourself to trust!
