Vice President for Administration
Happy May. I hope everyone is healthy and able to keep active within this quarantine. We still have all OC Activities on hold until the Governor starts opening NY up again. Fingers crossed that we start opening SLOWLY May 15th.
This is the last month of the 2019-2020 season. It was my first full year with the club and being your Vice President for Administration. I would like to thank Gail Marotti-Hossan for everything she does for the club. Many of you don’t see all the behind the scene tasks that Gail does without being asked and many times without receiving a THANK YOU. She has answered so many of my questions and assisted with me transitioning into the VP role. When COVID started to surface in the area and the quarantine began she worked hours everyday for the club to ensure Elections would be held professionally, confidentially and with integrity. She didn’t wait for someone to ask her, she immediately went into crisis mode and took charge. If you haven’t already please reach out to Gail and thank her dedication to the club.
Finally, This month will be the last month we will be mailing paper versions of the LiftLine. Starting in June we will only have it electronically. Please make sure
your email address is accurate and up to date. You can do that by going to the website and clicking on the link for email sign ups.
Stay safe and healthy.
I hope everyone is continuing to stay safe and healthy during these difficult times.
We have been following closely the CDC, Federal and State recommendations to ensure the safety of our OC members.
We plan on continuing all activities that were put on hold once it is deemed safe by the proper authorities...so stay tuned.
As we look towards the summer months, we are making plans to get the league up and running. Everyone is looking to get started and we can’t wait!
We thank you for your patience, continued support and hope that everyone stays safe.
VOLLEYBALLOC
Howdy Ocers! Usually I would be writing about all the summer activities the OC Ski Club has but this May, I will be reminding you to stay indoors, wash your hands a lot, and stay safe. We will be skiing next winter; I am not sure what the new normal will be on the slopes but I am sure we will be skiing/riding. The snow will come and we will get out there.
On a brighter note, as soon as the economy starts to open, the Club activities will start up again. Not sure if we will actually have a volleyball summer season but hopefully by August we may have pick up games going. Probably the teams of 4 will allow for the best social distancing. Golf, hiking, kayaking, biking and canoeing will probably start out slowly and expand as the virus threat lessens. Keep checking the web site for information about Club summer activities.
We held our elections via email and it worked great. We have a new President Meghan Ruby. She will be writing the next article for June and will introduce her Board to you. A reminder that the LiftLine is only available online. We are no longer printing copies and mailing them. I have decided to not fulfill the role of Past President on the Board as I have new responsibilities that require my attention elsewhere next year. So we have elected 10 Directors to fill our 15 member board. I have really enjoyed this position and learned so much about how the Club runs. One thing stands out, this is a Club of volunteers and we need everyone’s help to make this Club as successful as it is. So please, when you hear the call for volunteers, lend a hand. You will meet new friends, contribute to the Club and have a great time doing it.
Thanks so much to my officers: VP of Admin Darcey Gatto, VP for Organized
Skiing Matt Quackenbush, Treasurer Cathy Marvin, and Secretary Kathy Howard. You have been wonderful to work with. Thanks to all who served as Directors, committee chairs, trip leaders, event coordinators, and all the various volunteers who came forward this year to make this a fantastic year. Couldn’t have done this without all of you. Thanks and stay safe.

* Meghan Ruby will appoint an identified candidate to the position of Secretary when she begins her term as President on June 1st, 2020.
We wish to also thank the following members for also stepping up to run for a position on the Board:
Elections were held electronically on Thursday April 9 from noon until 11:59pm due to the social limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This electronic process was completely anonymous and controlled by the software. The list above is an extrapolation of the final report provided by simplyvoting.com. The actual report will be filed with the Club’s Secretary in lieu of
the minutes that would have been recorded from the regular Club meeting held to run the Elections.
The Board of Directors wishes to thank the membership for their support and participation in this very new approach to our Elections. As there should be with any new process, we will hold a “post mortem” to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of this 1st effort.

OC Board Meeting Highlights
The Board Meeting was held on Thursday, April 2, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting was held via conference call. Here is a summary of what took place. Complete minutes are found on the website.
• Events -all events are cancelled or postponed.
• Installation Banquet: Constitution does not require a banquet - just a celebration. Might have big party at the PCC when social distancing order is over and make announcements at that time.
• Elections: Voting will be electronic. Notification for voting will go out this weekend. Voting has been tested and most felt it was very easy. Software does have controls that limit each ID to one vote.
• Treasurer will process the member refunds for trips in which we have monies back. We do not have all monies returned yet.
• Ski.com is asking for a $50 pp courtesy fee for the cancelled trips. Board voted not to pay any additional costs to Ski.com. This fee was not in the contracts.
• Due to the lack of opportunity for Applicants to finish their membership requirements, the following was proposed: Amnesty will be given for ~263 applicants that signed up in the 2019-2020 year (excludes any volleyball only). This passed and will be implemented immediately.
• All unused 2020 OC Bucks will be accepted through 5/31/2021 without reissuing the certificates. Certificates will be re-issued for those used on cancelled trips.
• Those people who joined the Club (paid applicant fee) for the sole purpose of going on a trip will have that application fee rolled over to the 20/21 season.
The next meeting is May 7, 2020
