Nouns

• A noun is a word that names a person, a place, a thing, or an idea.– Persons: brother, judge, athlete, teacher,– Places: neighborhood, country, county, city– Things: book, shoe, flower, pencil– Ideas: pride, skill, truth, democracy, success

Common and Proper Nouns

• A common noun names any person, place, thing, or idea.– actor, city, book, pride

• A proper noun names a specific person, place, thing, or idea.– Zac Efron, Paris, The Hunger Games,

Possessive Nouns

• A possessive noun names who or what has something.

**HINT**: To make a noun possessive, you always add an (‘s), UNLESS the noun is plural and ends in s, in which case you will add an (‘)
