• Europe`s leading supplier of vitreous enamel (VE)
• VE cladding panels are used for architectural claddings of facades, road tunnel,
metro stations.
omeras – worldwide activities
• omeras supplied panels for projects all over the world: Germany, Spain, Italy, UK,
Russia, Romania, Netherlands, US, South America, Singapore, Hong Kong,

What is Vitreous Enamel?
Vitreous enamel, also called porcelain enamel, is defined as a substantially vitreous or
glassy inorganic coating bonded to metal by fusion at a temperature above 800°C.

Why VE cladding in
road tunnel
VE - claddings advantages
Tunnel wall cladding out of VE helps saving lives..
Protection of the tunnel wall
Protection of tunnel infrastructure
Better orientation after failure of lighting
Bright surface – no tunnel phobias – less accidents
Keeps the roadway clean – no water or icing-up on the lanes
.. and helps saving costs
Extreme long lifespan with constant quality (e.g. color, glossy,
white content, reflectivity, etc.)
Potential for cost savings in terms of maintenance and care
Easy to clean
Easy installation and changeability
Low reconstruction costs after case of fire
Bright surface – less energy costs due to less lighting
VE - claddings advantages
• LIFETIME / MAINTENANCE
• Lifetime of 40 to 60 years is usual. Enameled surfaces are almost maintenance free.
Due to the glass hard and resistant surface the aggressive tunnel environment cannot
harm the surface. Even regular cleaning is does not shorten the lifetime.
• In comparison with other tunnel cladding (paint, concrete etc.) higher initial costs
redeem after 10 years.
• CORROSION RESISTANCE
• Panels are fully covered – and fully resistant. Panels are resistant to acids and to all • Panels are fully covered – and fully resistant. Panels are resistant to acids and to all
cleaning agents as well as exhaust emissions occurring concentrated in tunnels
(nitrogen oxides), rubber wear, brake dust,
road salt emulsions, chlorides.
• EASY TO CLEAN
• Even water is sufficient for cleaning on a
regular base. In tunnels time saving
cleaning vehicles with spinning brushes
are used – no road closure; no lane
restrictions.
VE - claddings advantages
• NOT BURNABLE / NOT FLAMMABLE / NO TOXIC FUMES
• VE panels are resistant against temperatures up to 1.000 °C and can protect the
tunnel wall against direct fire.
• SIGNS AND EMERGENCY EXIT SIGNS
• The process of silk-screen printing allows to realize warning and safety signs using
ceramic colors (e.g. running man). Same life time is guaranteed.
• HIT SAFE, DURABLE
• ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY AND RECYCABLE
• The production of VE panels is done with environmentally friendly materials and
processes. All There are no naturally contain substances of concern. Enameled steel
products are fully recyclable and are unproblematic melted.
• ULTRAVIOLET RESISTANT
• EASY AND QUICK INSTALLATION / INTERCHANGEABLE PANELS
• Installation of structure and panels is quick and easy using state of the art equipment
(transport, moving and lifting tools). Even for interchanging panels which have been
damaged after an accident.
• Additional advantages in tunnel
• No fire load protection of the tunnel surface and low reconstructions costs after
case of fire
• Brighter than concrete saving of light energy
• Interchangeable panels
• Acoustic protection (e.g. using perforated panels)

Static calculation
Static calculation
• Omeras can provide the design of the complete lining system –
from planning incl. static calculation, measurement, production and installation.
• The static calculation defines the thickness and stability of the structure and panels –
depending from the requirements as wind suction and pressure.
This is normally 1,5 kN /m2. Omeras has already supplied tunnel lining systems up to 4 kN /
m2 (tunnel Roppen, Austria).
installation
Installation
Substructure and panels create a stable and dynamically tested system
Installation with specially designed lifting technology for flat and curved panels in one lane
Efficient installation with minimal personnel
Installation
Special panels (e.g. cut outs) for signage and signalling installation are already produced and
manufactures in the factory (after measuremnent on site).

omeras – summary
• The VE cladding is not flammable and helps protecting the wall – even in case of fire. Thereconstruction costs after case of fire are lower.
• Using trucks with spinning brushs allows easy cleaning of VE panels with very little detergents andensures permanent bright walls with extreme long lifetime (more than 40 years). Side effect is reductionof energy expenditure.
• Surfaces are resistant against acids, salts, detergents, nitric oxide, brake wear and do not staticcharge themselves.charge themselves.
• All advantages can be assigned for warning and safety signs, which are fired with 840 °C, too.
• Wall cladding out of VE cover and protect wirings, conduit systems as well as the concrete wall itself.
• Panels can be produced perforated for sound absorbing areas.
• The bright VE surface can help reducing tunnel phobia. Due to colored panels the driver attention inthe tunnels can be improved.
