Permeable Pavers for Cross Walks

Overview – Pervious Concrete

• Pervious or no-fines Concrete – mixture of Coarse Aggregate, Portland Cement, Admixtures and Water

• Increased/Enhanced Porosity due to limited fines

• Can be placed directly on parent soils with no aggregate sub-base (rigid pavement type)

I-4 TRUCK STOP (Shoulder application)

FCPA – Florida Concrete Products Association BUILDING (Orlando)

Overview – Permeable Pavers

• Expanded openings at the sides/edges encouraging water to infiltrate

• Openings are filled with small size stone

• Many different styles/patterns

Permeable Pavers studied at UCF

ERIK TESTING

E.R.I.K. Embedded Ring Infiltrometer Kit

-In-situ, nondestructive, replicable

- Constant head test @ 1” above surface

- Measures rate of water “upstream” of sample

- Infiltrometers can be embedded from surface of pavement down into parent soil, in order to monitor where clogging is taking place (ie. near the surface or deeper in the pore structure)

Pervious Pavements are a “DOOR MAT” to sensitive ecosystems that allows for easy removal of sediments(maintenance) with vac truck before they get carried downstream to receiving waters.
