Warm-UpWrite the following vocabulary terms and definitions in your journal:Human Characteristics –study of the

interaction between human beings and their environment in particular places and across spatial areas.

Physical Characteristics – geography concerned with natural features and phenomena of the earth's surface, as landforms, drainage features, climates, soils, and vegetation.

Comparing the Regions of Texas

Pre-APTSW locate the regions of Texas and compare the human and physical characteristics by creating a regions puzzle map and writing a persuasive essay.

Regions Puzzle Map No more than four students in a group Each group will receive four puzzle pieces

representing the four regions of Texas You will label the regions with the required

human and physical characteristics. Your map will include:

Map key Compass rose Surrounding areas

Map Key Your map keys must include all of the

following: Natural Vegetation Natural Resources Ranching Agricultural Products

TOTAL OF 21 ITEMS ON THE MAP KEY!!

Map Key Cont. Every member should use the same

exact symbols for the natural resources, vegetation, ranching, and agricultural products.

Before you receive your puzzle pieces, you must create the map key and show it to Mrs. Smith

Grading Rubric Look at the category “cities”

It should state: 90-100% of cities are labeled 89-80% of cities are labeled 79-70% of cities are labeled Less than 70% of cities are labeled
