1898 Park and Pleasure Drive built a segment along the beach

1930 – Ernest Warner passed away in an automobile accident, 2 weeks later the Ernest Warner Memorial committee was formed to buy the beach as a memorial

World War II – set aside portion of beach to be used for recreational use by servicemen stationed in Madison

1950’s – larger land purchases north of railroad tracks to create Warner Park
