Fareshare’s Easter food drive begins this SaturdayOakville’s Fareshare Food

Bank will kick off its annualEaster Food Drive Saturday.

The first of its two largeannual food drives will contin-ue until Sunday, April 15.

Fareshare depends on thisfood drive to stock its shelveswith non-perishable fooditems to last much of the year.

So far in 2007, Fareshare is

assisting an average 310 fami-lies, or 1,100 people, half ofwhom are children. The fami-lies visit the food bank onceper month and receive about aweek’s worth of groceries.

It is possible to donate tothe Easter Food Drive in anumber of ways.

Fareshare will be openfrom 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday

to Saturday during the drive.Usually Fareshare is open onlyon Monday (from 10 a.m. to 2p.m.) and Thursday (from 3p.m. to 7 p.m.)

All Oakville fire stations willalso accept donations toFareshare and the food bankhas bins at Oakville grocerystores into which residents can

contribute food. Student volun-teers will hand out paper bagsto be filled with donations atthe Real Canadian Superstore.And many local schools alsohold food drives for Fareshare.

“While donations of all non-perishable foods will be wel-come, the items we invariablyrun short of are canned fruit,

canned vegetables, except corn,canned tomatoes and instantcoffee,” said Fareshare volun-teer director Dudley Clarke.

Donations of money are alsowelcome and are used to buyperishable items and vouchers

given to clients to buy milk andfruit at local grocery stores. Todonate visit Fareshare at 1240Speers Rd., Unit 6, call 905-847-3988, or drop donations atany fire station or grocery storeFareshare bin.

Draft Vegetation Management PlanOntario Parks (Ministry of Natural Resources), invites your comments on the draft vegetation management plan for Bronte Creek Provincial Park.

This draft plan outlines the preferred management approach to promote the persistence and restoration of naturally occurring vegetation communities within the park and the natural processes that occur within them. You have an opportunity to comment on the draft vegetation management plan for a period of forty-five (45) days after its release. Comments will be accepted until May 14, 2007.
