The service projects have begun for the children in our program. We are hoping to
have sock donations for the needy. We are very grateful to all of our families that support our service projects. We will begin our Christmas Break for our program beginning December 18th and 19th. Classes will resume on January 8th and 9th.
Weekend Liturgy Questions/Comments 12/04/16 1. Advent preparations include taking inventory of the areas in our lives in need of change and
forgiveness. What relationships need healing? What priorities need to shift? What habits need to change?
2. Now is the time to make room for Christ by making adjustments and cleaning our “spiritual house.” Consider participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent.
3. By your example, you are showing those you love that a change of heart is necessary to welcome Christ into the world.
Toy Drive Underway St. Mary School students are collecting toys for St. Joseph Family Center (SJFC) as part of the annual Advent Project. Our St. Mary School community has always been generous, and we look forward to another successful year! Toys will be collected at school from December 1st through December 16th. Cash or other financial donations are also accepted and all funds will be used to purchase toys for the drive under the guidance of SJFC. Please designate checks to St. Joseph’s Family Center (memo: Toy Drive). A GoFundMe site is also available at the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/st-josephs-family-toy-drive. Thank you for supporting the St. Mary School Toy Drive benefitting St. Joseph Center.
Second Sunday of Advent - December 4, 2016
The children's Christmas Program on Christmas Eve will be at 4:30pm in the
Church. Preparation time is here!!!! There will be practice for the play on Sunday, December 11th at 2:30pm in the Gym of St. Mary School. All Children between the ages of 5 and up are invited and encouraged to participate. Please call the Religious Education office for more information at 408.847.2652.
Annual Appeal Our Annual Appeal is in full swing, and letters have been mailed to our alumni donors, sponsors and school community. This is an important event we do each year, and we ask you to prayerfully consider contributing to St. Mary School. The gifts we receive each year help to close the gap between tuition dollars and the cost of providing a Catholic education. To date, we have received $8,300, a little more than a third of the way toward our $21,000 goal!! If you did not receive a letter but would like to make a contribution, please contact the school at 408.842.2827 or visit www.stmarygilroy.org and click on the donate button. Thank you to those who have already generously given!
Thanksgiving Food Drive St. Mary School held a Thanksgiving food drive from November 1st through November 18th for St. Joseph Family Center’s holiday collection. Students collected 716 pounds of goods, including packaged dessert mixes, non-perishable single-serve food items, stuffing mix, canned yams, canned cranberry sauce, microwaveable food, 5-pound bags of potatoes, canned fruit, salt, fresh fruit and new adult socks. Additionally, students, faculty and staff collected over $1,300 to go toward the purchase of a ham or turkey. Our student body did an amazing job and continues to outdo themselves each year! Because of the student leaders, the entire student body and all the families’ contributions, St. Joseph Family Center was able to feed almost 900 families this Thanksgiving. Thank you to everyone for your support of this great cause.
