General Information• Breakfast in classroom 9:00-9:20• School day 9:15-3:27 (doors open at 9am)• General daily schedule• Inform office of any changes in students’

arrival or dismissal mode of transportation• Birthdays- Students may share a store

bought treat, such as fruit, during lunch time.

MATH• Math Instruction

– Rigor is embedded within curriculum– Students will receive accelerated

instruction in their guided math groups.– Daily Guided Math Groups– Drexel Math Program

• Words Their Way Spelling Program– Focus on spelling patterns– Approximately 20 words– Two week cycle– Test every 2 weeks– Home activities

WRITING• Daily guided writing groups• Writing: Narrative, Opinion,

Informative/Explanatory (different times through year)

• Apply spelling patterns used in writing

Report card

HOMEWORK• Assigned Monday – Thursday• Due at the beginning of the

following day • Homework includes:

– Math and/or Language Arts - Other subjects as necessary- Reading “Just Right” books every

night

REMINDER: Please encourage independence while children complete their homework.

Yet, provide support only when needed to avoid frustration.

PARENT NIGHT• One per quarter• Informal discussions regarding your needs,

questions, and concerns (mini workshops)• Light snacks and drinks• Help plan fun activities while socializing with other

parents
